Duck.

Yes that was something that I noticed in Multiplayer and realized again in this demo. When you're getting low on bullets in your clip the sound of your firing changes and makes it sound like your clip is getting hollow.sankt-Antonio said:ok played it a couple of times more, and to really fell like in war turn off all the hud / crosshair etc.
its very cool if you run out of ammo all of a sudden...
and the sound helps a lot - you hear when you have to reload...
and hitting a target with the magnum from the hip with no crosshair gives the kill something special![]()

I replied because I don't want it to seem as though I've "lost" this debate. I stand by my opinion.Woo-Fu said:You did reply though, didn't you?
Who said I loved it? Obviously you're unwilling to try any control scheme even a bit different than what you're used to. That is the issue, not whether or not I love this game. Keep replying this way, see how long it lasts.
You mean, the longer you hold down the stick, the faster you turn? I just checked, and no there isn't any of that kind of acceleration. Maybe a little if you are pressing the stick all the way, but I can't see any acceleration in the less pressure ranges. What the game does have is a little bit of a reaction speed deadzone, in that if you flick and release fast enough, it ignores the input. It could be this "lag" that gives the sense of acceleration. But after a few playthroughs, I got used to it. It's gonna be like Halo was for many of us- frustrating at first because it's not something you can immediately master. Calling it lag as some have (not you- I'm just saying this in general) would be a sin. It's a timing deadzone to forgive/assist in the event you're the kind of FPS'er who twitches left and right too much over a target.PjotrStroganov said:Or they play quite the same. I actually played COD4 in veteran mode quite the same as I play the Killzone 2 demo. Always shooting from cover to prevent my head blown of. No run and gun and almost no shooting from the hip. The difference lies in the controls. Shooting a moving enemy is made so much harder in Killzone 2 because of the progressive sensitivity of the stick. It's almost impossible to track an enemy at a constant speed because there's always some acceleration going on between the maximum and minimum turning rate.
cakefoo said:Actually, I take cover, and I stop-n-pop. I'm not a spray-n-pray shooter, nor do I run into the middle of firefights. I also don't usually play without a scope. In Resistance 2, I'd say my favorite gun is the Marksman, and I use that rifle for mid to long range and never fire a bullet from that distance with that gun without the scope. But for Killzone 2, the added weightiness over other FPS's serves as a precision enhancement, allowing me to be less reliant on the scope. I don't find myself twitching past the target like I do in other console FPS's.
I also have an aesthetic reason for disliking the scopes- the less there is obstructing my view onscreen, the better I can take all the visuals in. It's the same reason I play with no crosshair hud- I like to see what I'm shooting. Also, shooting from the hip means shooting without assists, and you're a badass if you can do it![]()
Makes no sense to use Alt 2.mr_nothin said:HOW U GONNA TELL ME?!?!
I've gotten accustomed to both setups and I just prefer Al2 + hold to zoom.
Dont tell me what two dew!

Zeliard said:Man, the hit-detection and death animations in this game are really well-done. At one point a Helghast had his body down low to the ground and was leaning up against a piece of cover, and I moved over to the side a bit and shot him a few times. His body ended up just going limp, but he was still leaning against the cover in basically the same position as before - just no longer moving. It was eerily realistic. It actually gave me pause for a moment, and I've been playing shooters since I was 8.

The default control scheme allows you to get in cover and use the zoom button at the same time. A bit hard to do that while using Alt 2.

My opinion is that I dislike the controls in this game because they've changed the way that aiming has worked in every game to date...and why? The explanation I've seen in this thread is "it feels heavier" and "the weight of the gun adds realism".
If this is what realism is for a shooting game, then I don't like it. I prefer my aiming to be quick and accurate. I want my character to instantly respond to my joystick presses, not accelerate into them.
It's just my personal preference, and again, I'm sorry that it offends you.

mr_nothin said:There's not lag. There actually IS acceleration of that kind. It just caps off after about 1 sec.
There's just more of the acceleration if you flick the analog stick. If you do smaller movement, there's not as much acceleration. I dont think they just used 1 acceleration "sensitivity/setting". It seems dynamic.
I use the same control scheme here! I love it.mr_nothin said:HOW U GONNA TELL ME?!?!

It's so damn amazing how many little subtle details there are in this game.
BeeDog said:Yeah, the death animations and the awesome ragdolls make it a bit unsettling, looks nasty in some way. :lol But I'm a little bit bummed about the hit reaction animations, sometimes the enemy seems to warp when being shot in several places.
Woo-Fu said:You can get the same level of positional audio from headphones and Watts have little to nothing to do with quality. If you need 450watts to drive your sub bass I'd say it is an issue of efficiency, not quality---but then again, e-peen can be measured in many different ways. :lol
It's not hard. It was just a little ackward at 1st. But in the end it worked out alot better.-viper- said:Makes no sense to use Alt 2.

Kittonwy said:Is the unit still working though? It could be the demo that's having the problem with your unit. Did you delete any game save file and game data file after you deleted the demo and tried to redownload it? That could be the problem, something must have gotten corrupted along the way. Good luck, hopefully things will work out.
