Oh shush. I have a PS3, you know. Check the KZ2 online thread for my PSN id. You can check up on my trophies etc. to allay the apparent insecurity over this console that you have aqcuired.

I see you have the special GAF trophy for being a douche ;)

Forget it.. this isn't even worth it, actually. (edited thread).

Oh well guys, I'll have to go to work now, I'll be back in a few hours, ready to play the beta for the 6th time, lol..

That WOULD be cool, but only if there were no performance hit. I still believe that this recording feature is precisely why Halo 3 suffered from CONSTANT framerate stuttering. It was very subtle (most people wouldn't notice it), but it annoyed the hell out of me. It wasn't really slowdown, just...minor stuttering.

The way motion is handled in KZ2 is insane, however. I mean, it's actually MORE impressive than the motion blur in Crysis in that it is literally applied to EVERYTHING. It is more selective in Crysis. When you take down a shed, you'll see it, but when a vehicle drives by at a high speed, you won't. KZ2 literally handles all motion with high quality motion blur. If a vehicle simply moves quickly through the sky it blurs. Any fast motion demonstrates this effect (animation or otherwise). I don't know how the hell they pulled it off so nicely, but it gives the game an almost CG-like feel.

The post processing is simply out of this world overall. Really elevates the visuals to a new level. Hopefully other developers take a close look at some of the techniques used in KZ2 and attempt to duplicate them.
Eh, settle down now, motion blur is applied down to even the wheels on the hummers in Crysis.

And you should know better than even opening up this kinda discussion.

Demo is pretty great, I urge everyone to play with the hud and reticule off, the field of view on the weapons is very well designed drawing your eye right where the x-hairs would be, very natural and something that I always look for in quality shooters.

Sense of weight and speed is excellent, you can get a really good feel for it at the beach darting from cover to cover to escape grenades.

I've selted with Alt 1 so I have grenades on L1 and guns on R1. Works well and it means cover/crouch/zoom is easily done.

Such an awesome, awesome demo of what looks like an incredible full game. Everything is super high quality, it looks fucking SICK and I am genuinely impressed by the enemy AI. I've played the demo multiple times and they seem to have quite a wide range of moves etc. It's all good.

I thought the aiming/acceleration was a little slow to begin with but I've totally gotten used to it now.

It's fucking Tech! :D I just got Lumines Supernova today too, what a great day for PSN :)

Don't understand everyone's beef with the controls, standard 2 took me about one play through to get completely acclimated.

Although I do agree that the ability to remap every button is always going to be better than just shifting through presets, it's not like the controls are broken in any conceivable way.

I hate to conform, but I really like the weight and feel to the game. I have no problems with the aiming (better than RE5!) or the rather...liberal application of the motion blur.

The lack of fucking crouch toggle on the other hand is jarring, considering the polish and care that went into the rest of the product.

edit: I'm just repeating that complaint so someone at GG takes notice. :D Tempy, where art thou?

Some of you have no idea how lucky you are, been DL'in since 11 am EST, and it still isn't done.
I don't know if that helps, but
it took me like 10 minutes to download, it was so damn fast. Did I mention how great that demo is? mmmmh, so good.

My only reservation with the demo so far (I've gotten used to the controls already) is that it seems a bit too scripted, like CoD4. I did like CoD4 overall, but I wish you could have the option NOT to shoot the bridge. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for a bit more choice in other levels.

lies, good sir.

I've spent a bit more time with the demo now. Overall, i really like it. Really tense atmosphere, sound and graphics are really good, not much that hasn't been said before.

I like the weight of the controls. I changed the sensitivity up 3 notches and i think that's my sweetspot. My only real issues with the control is the R3 for sprint. It always felt unnatural to me and it still does here, but it's minor. The AI is solid, the warehouse section played out differently each time.

I'm really looking forward to this. Unlike the RE5 demo, this hasn't affected my purchasing decision.

I played the demo, but damn, I've watched this demo be played by so many people... too bad they couldn't do another area. ;(

Anyways, the only problem I have with it is the default controls. I had to adjust the sensitivity a bit and I preferred to use the Alternative 2 controls, but the problem with that is it feels awkward using the cover system with L2 crouch and then L1 aim.

Ah well, I'm going to go play it a few more times to get a good feel of it.

So the DualShock® 3 is a figment of my imagination :lol

He's probably wishing he could transplant Haze's controls to KZ2. This game has some of the worst stick sensitivity, dead zone, and dynamic acceleration of any dual stick FPS I've ever played. Haze probably has the best.

Wow.

Sprint is toggle, if you didn't know that. You just click once and start running. I generally dislike click to run but because it's toggle it feels good.

Finished playing it. Graphics are great. I like the lighting, the water, the physics; textures aren't that great, though. I don't like the menu system because of the way it moves every time you press a button: it gets annoying. Not sure how I feel about the cover system, nor the button configuration. Why can't we switch zoom and the crotch button? It would be a lot easier on my hands, especially with the playstation controller.

The question now is which clan will reign supreme.

Of course U.S.GAF East :D

Actually I'm used to sprinting with L3 (you actually said R3 but I guess you meant L3?) but on the other side, I'm not used to having to keep pressing the crouch button all the time, but pretty much like you said, it's minor and I bet I'll get used to it really soon.

So yeah.. I can't wait to play the full game now. This has made me want the game even more, after really getting used to the way the game plays.

Never played KZ1, so I guess I should read up on the plot of KZ1 and the universe a bit.

Yep. Toggle wins again!

So, I've gone through the demo 3/4 times now…
blah blah blah ....
Due to the stupid acceleration setting in Killzone, the aiming feels very sluggish and it makes it difficult to make small corrections to your aiming.

Visually I'm a bit unsure about the game really, it's very bland. Ok, I realise it's a war, but it's just so dark and grey and boring.

The lighting is nice in places, but they seem to have gone out of their way to make it as annoying as possible, by having it bloom out whenever it's close to where you're aiming, and putting lens flares all over the screen. Maybe it's just me, but if I were fighting in a war and for whatever reason I'm getting lots of glare/lens flare like that, I'd be swapping out my helmet for one without a visor asap.
blah balh blah blah ......... .

Hi Andre, I think you forgot one of your quotes: "This game has the worst character models since oblivion" in this post :P :lol :lol

I can't get the guy to fall off the roof. :(

Game has physics, have you tried tossing a grenade behind him so that maybe it blows him off the roof? Style points +5 for that, I'd think. :)

I don't get all the hate on the aiming sensitivity. This is suppose to be a realistic shooter, which means its got to have some weight! This isn't Halo where there practically isn't any weight put into aiming at all. I like it, and it doesn't feel like I have a 1 lb. gun like it does in Resistance 2 or Call Of Duty games. I don't need to "correct" my aiming, because both my shooting from the hip with the crosshairs off, and ironsight are dead on both behind cover and in movement.

The time will come where we will eat your happles in the company of your women :D

Also, i know sprint is toggle :p I just hate the L3/R3 buttons with the passion only a rutting unicorn could know.

[edit]Yes, i meant L3. I keep mixing them up

HUD Less is the only way to play through the SP for me. Feels so much more cinematic, I can't go back. I'll probably die more though:lol

Left and right are easy to mix up :p

I just finished the demo twice, once with standard controls and once with Alternate 2. Much much better on Alternate 2 with Hold Zoom enabled. I'm really confused about all the hate with the aim though, it doesn't even feel all that different from other games to me.

Graphics are really amazing, and the AI was fantastic. The enemies actually moved to cover, tried to flank you, and just in general responded realistically. I just wish the demo had MP and not just campaign, but I think I can wait until I buy it :lol

Started d/l when I got home an hour and a half ago, at 30% so far. Only thing that could make stealing this demo sweeter would be if ppl downloading who were actually from Europe could see an icon stating that caldermuyo from Canada was taking x% of the available bandwidth from them. ;)

Try shooting the guy on the roof in his legs to get him to fall forward. Has worked for me so far.

On a side note, does anyone know where the heads go!? Do they despawn? I took off 3+ a second ago and couldn't find anything but decapitated bodies. =(

Oh my god, I just loaded up the demo in french and he says "Time to die" (Allez, crèves!) in french instead of let's go (Allons-y)... made me sad :(

goddamnit, i want my time to die back :lol

another round of people crying about the dualshock? ugh

Amazing the ps2 sold > 140million worldwide when saddled with such a terrible controller, isn't it? You'd think there would be more people wandering around crippled from using the dualshock. I mean there must be hospitals filled with them, lined up for physical therapy.

this is sarcasm
