You fuckers hyped the graphics way TOOO much. Its one of the best looking games I have ever seen yet I still came away dissapointed in terms of graphics. :lol

The sound is the highlight here. Best sound EVER! I really like the slow pace as well.

Try shooting the guy on the roof in his legs to get him to fall forward. Has worked for me so far.

On a side note, does anyone know where the heads go!? Do they despawn? I took off 3+ a second ago and couldn't find anything but decapitated bodies. =(

The heads explode

They also seem to really like motion blur. You hardly have to move at all and everything on the screen blurs. I'm also not sure if it even is a proper motion blur effect they're using. On the guns it seems like it might be, but it looks like it could just be using a general blur on the screen when you're panning around, similar to what Uncharted did.

I understand that using effects like depth of field, blooming, motion blur etc. make the game look good in videos, but it's just annoying when you're trying to actually play a game.

Thank you.
I thought my eyes were going, or perhaps some connection was loose on the back of my PS3.
I literally got a headache by the end of the demo I found it so bad.
Maybe it was my CoD4/Halo way of fast-twitch acquiring targets, but everything was a blur in the demo unless I was standing still and looking slowly.

I'd like an option to turn that off in the retail game.

Looooved the demo, can't wait for this gem! And I'm obliged to support Dutch gaming ofcourse as a 'cheesehead' myself.

I actually liked the control scheme. And once I enhanced the sensitivity I was popping headshots one after another. I'm stoked!

The sound is really good. Funny how something I didn't really know about could be the most impressive part of the demo. Mostly interested in this game for the multiplayer... single-player like this is just gravy.

Ya, playing all those fps's on the ps2 was awesome.

this is also sarcasm

It's not just FPSes... Killzone 2 MP beta pretty much ruined all other games for me. When the beta ended, I had a constant longing to play KZ2 Multiplayer all the time... even while playing other games.

It is the destroyer of other games.

Man, I hate it when people say this shit.

I was one of the first people from here to get into the public mp beta and it was not hard to switch between it and other shooters at all. It's such hyperbole when people say this.

Wow! I think I'm really going to like this game. The demo is a great tease. Graphics are amazing! Sound, guns, AI and controls are all great. I'm sticking with the default controls works great for me.

After all the hype I was expecting to be let down but this definitely lives up to the hype. I LOVE IT! Now all I need to do is hurry up and wait until the end of the month.

Where is the TARDIS when you need it, just a quick jump to the end of the month is all I need Doctor.

I've played through the demo at least 10 times (really wish they'd have unlocked the other difficulties). Had quite a bit of fun though. The aiming feels off still. I've been able to compensate for the most part but this game needs reticule accelerate. The sensitivity right now is such that it's too slow to turn around quickly enough but too fast to make slight aim corrections. If there was some acceleration to the aiming it'd feel a lot better.

Can't wait till I get my hands on the final version :D

Shame turning off the HUD turns off the weapon prompts and environmental prompts (which I thought would fall under hints). It looks so nice too.

Just thought I'd chime in with my short impressions. Played though the demo probably about ten times or so. Very use to that controls now. At first I will admit it took some getting use to but I do like the sense of weight. When I first heard the title screen music I had a huge smile on my face. Reminded me of playing Killzone 1 for the first time. Overall very pumped to continue playing and jump into MP.

Played through the demo for the first time...can I just say I FUCKING LOVE THE CONTROLS...seriously. The shooting just feels right to me. Personally I love the weight and kick back of the guns. Graphically this game is just solid all around. Short but sweet demo.

I like the A.I. Even on the demo's difficulty level (there are two above it), they seem to care about self-preservation quite a bit, usually. I see them often repositioning themselves to get behind a better piece of cover if I have them in my view, and they're smart when it comes to suppressing fire with blind fire and grenades.

it's unfortunate their AI completely shuts off in close range combat.

I think he was safe in his assertion that Killzone 2 destoying the ability to enjoy all games, regardless of genre, may have been hyperbolic.

They meleed me pretty good in close range. It's not as good as when they're shooting but it still works fine. I doubt you're going to be up in their face enough to make a difference.

The game looks and plays great. After all the control complains I was expecting some time to get used to it but the controls are fine (imo of course).

Great demo... now I'm really hyped :D

I played demo earlier and wow these graphics are the real deal.. however the controls are waaay to heavy even putting sensitivity to the max it still feels slow to me.

Just got done with my first play through! All I have to say is WOW! Also, nice touch putting the "Ballet of Death" vid at the end! This makes the wait until Feb 27th that much worse!

if running after me to kick me down means that it shuts off, then yes... and keep in mind this is 2nd easiest level... now imagine it at hard, the way it should be played.

Yeah, the AI at close range is anything but broken but at the demo's difficulty they sure did a lot less aggressive at close range; which is pretty strange.

I do love the feeling of suppressing a guy with gunfire, sprinting at him and shoving the butt of my rifle into his mouth.

The way motion is handled in KZ2 is insane, however. I mean, it's actually MORE impressive than the motion blur in Crysis in that it is literally applied to EVERYTHING. It is more selective in Crysis. When you take down a shed, you'll see it, but when a vehicle drives by at a high speed, you won't. KZ2 literally handles all motion with high quality motion blur. If a vehicle simply moves quickly through the sky it blurs. Any fast motion demonstrates this effect (animation or otherwise). I don't know how the hell they pulled it off so nicely, but it gives the game an almost CG-like feel.
There's literally only one other game I know of that applies velocity based motion blur onto everything like that - and that's LittleBigPlanet. But even in LBP you sometimes have that white blurry outline around some of the motion blurred objects - not to mention that LBP could be helped by the fact that it's a 2.5D game. Bottomline - it's really impressive what they've done with post processing and particles in this game.

After a couple of playthroughs, the game reminded me of how much I suck at console shooters. Got to get decent before the retail game comes out...

Even on normal mode, it seems pretty tough to me. If you don't headshoot the Helghast troops, they seem to be able to take a lot of hits, and really love to take cover. I think I died twice on grenades when they through them back at me, and once when a Helghast bashed me with his rifle behind my back

I'm surprised at the number of audio languages available (Maybe that's why the demo was 1.2gb?), going to try a few foreign languages for kicks.

It's so good. The AI really shines. I feel like I could use an adjustment slider for the acceleration as well as look speed but that might turn out to be a non issue after more play time.

...65%....

been reading the last few pages...and all I have to say is that I do not like the 360's controller at all, so HA, shove that mis-shaped no dpad having thing in your ears!!!! :D

So, what do I have to say about it? (Like anyone cares, they should just play it)
Seriously, this is looking up to be an amazing FPS. You can get a good grip on the mechanics with this demo, and they are great. The weapons really do have weight and the aiming is near perfect. I do find the default sensitivy to be a bit to slow, but that is easily adjusted.
The demo level is kinda short, but I can play it over and over and over again.

But how and where do you get the STA-14?

did anyone mention how awesome granades are? they feel so natural... little things like that just show how polished the game is.

Game feels great, especially with the Real Triggers and the x-axis sensitivity turned up a few notches. The cover mechanics flow beautifully and so does the pace of the combat. I have played thru that warehouse 3 times now and each time I approached it with a different strategy. I am really looking forward to playing this game on the harder difficulties.

And the graphics are just :lol

3rd parties, WTF?

One gripe? I was expecting the hit reactions to have more impact, feel heavier/weighter *shrug*

This is the first title on the PS3 that has the power to really turn heads and instill severe envy into non-owners.

My kingdom for crouch toggling! :lol

Enjoyed the demo, but without crouch toggling, any other configuration aside from "standard 1" is awkward. Nice to know the function is in MP though. Did someone confirm/deny the option in the final game's SP?

I can't imagine having to play KZ2 with the 360's d-pad, fo realz! I mean it'd be so hard to switch to my knife and CQC plays such a big role in this game.

While the grenades are super satisfying, their travel feels a little inconsistent. They bounce pretty inconsistently as well. Not a huge deal, feel about as good as CoD4's, but they could feel tighter.

It sucks to see all the COD players playing this game wrong. holding to crouch and cover is the absolute best way to do it!

awesome demo by the way too short ot really get super excited but the AI is no joke. which is always good to see.

Well, overall I'm utterly disappointed and underwhelmed :/

I guess I'll just spoiler my impressions so people who don't want to read negative comments, feel free to not highlight.

It was a trap.

I mean. WHAT FUCKING PLANET ARE GG FROM.

Ok, the graphics. Looks incredibly polished and out of this world. I am STILL looking for a bad texture, it goes from very good to outstanding. The water is insane.
Particle effects, smoke, OMFG. The lighting is simply INSANE.
I can see how some people can feel jaded and not OMGZORZ after having seen the fuckload of footage thrown around, but I'm still completely blown away. The attention to details is ridiculous.
And there is not a single screen tear or frame drop. WTF.

Physics are insane, the hit response system is SO well done, and interactions with the environment are great too. I spent 5 minutes shooting at helghast helmets to watch 'em roll and bounce :lol
Bullet impacts are very well done as well.

The sense of weight is excellent, and Sev doesn't feel like a bullet sponge. Taking hits messes your aiming quite a lot, but I find it really good and challenging. Run and gun ? lulz, forget it.
It didn't have any problem with the controls, started with default 1 right away, experimented a bit with sensitivity, and it was all good.
Minor gripe: unless I've missed something, not being able to just tap L2 to stick to a cover can been slightly annoying. But yeah, that's mostly nitpicking, and I ended up being quite used to it after 2 playthrough.

The atmosphere is excellent, really excellent. It does feel like a freakin war zone, with bullets flying all around. And you're not some kind of huge magnet making all ennemies shoot at you constantly. Friendly AI is really good too.

Last but not least, the AI. I guess people that have doubted and ditched KZ2's AI are eating some major crow right now. The Helghast make an excellent use of cover, flank you, are incredibly efficient with nades.
They move constantly but NOT in a stupid way, and sometimes you're like "where the fuck did this guy come from", especially the last part in the warehouse.
And they keep using blindfire very efficiently too, so you have to be extra careful. The game is already quite challenging on normal difficulty. I think I'm going to love playing on hard and then veteran or whatever.

I can't fucking wait, day zero. Except a very few minor gripes (actually, I can only think of one, the sticking to cover part), this is the best FPS I've ever played.
It's also very different from other games, quite in its own league. I still like R2 :P IMO both those games are completing each other very well.
It's a 10 in my book. And I've not even tried the multiplayer part. Fun times incoming.

Erm... there's no trickery. It's just true motion blur. Videos don't hide the trickery or flaws. You can look at screenshots and everything looks 100% natural.

If you want exaggerated motion blur, see Crysis:
incrysis_motionblur_dx10.jpg

Looks more like the tree and gun were being shot out of a cannon, rather than slowly tipping down or waving, doesn't it? It's also a buzzkill to notice static background objects being smeared. Also, look at the edge of the gun- a common flaw in most games' motion blur, which Killzone 2 doesn't suffer from because it doesn't rely on cheats. Most games' blur looks like a 2D picture smeared and badly photoshopped into the frame. Killzone 2's blur, on the other hand, takes no such shortcuts.

Cell processor, perhaps? I don't know how KZ2 does it. I can assure you that you are entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't make it true.

you can't set up an Euro account? it's pretty simple, probably a google search would help you out. No GS code needed for that.

After you go up the elevator, on the third wave of enemies (second after you come down the stairs) there's a guy on the roof with it. If you manage to make him fall off of the roof (try shooting his legs while he's close to the ledge), you can grab it on your way to the door and use it as you cover whoeverheis while he's hacking. 'Sploding heads may ensue.
