Killzone Mercenary Beta Discussion

No, people complain about those who kill the enemy that they're interrogating. Since you can't tell who's stabbing who (at least I can't) I think it's better to be safe than sorry.

You can easily see who's interrogating who by just seeing who is the one standing and who is on the ground.

The spawning definitely needs work. Grenade blast radius seems huge - I usually die 80% of the time when one is remotely close to me. The Mantys seems OP too, I usually get at least 3 kills everytime I use it.

Played my second round and was best in my team!! Yay

Think I've gotten used to the controls a lot more, the analog acceleration seems fine after you get used to it enough.

Does anyone know how to do the firewall hacking thing. I have no idea what to do

Having played the game at Gamescom, I have to ask: How do you get used to the controls? I played it probably a total of 20 minutes snuggled into those comfy bean bags at the sony booth, but man I couldn't get over how wrong the controls felt.

The graphics are mind blowing though, and it was a shame I couldn't get sound but those controls man... those controls. Gyro made it a bit better, but it's still far from what I'd call good. Something about the acceleration and input lag just felt massively off, regardless of settings.

Felt great to me. Been playing Vita since launch. Just give it more time if you get retail.

I really don't play a whole lot of FPS. I finally booted this baby up over the weekend and I was really blown away at how console like this looked and felt. Not sure if I will be picking this up or not, but dam it looked and played really great.

Gezz just played my first match. Our team couldn't move. Died, every time we spawned. Had zero fun, I was super excited for this game but now I'll think about it. I'm normally great at shooters, even handheld ones. Maybe I should wait for the PS4 version.

There's nothing stopping you from trying more than one match lol

Play some more, the first few matches are always hard

You can't expect to be good immediately, and you can't judge the game off of one match, lol.

FWIW, most of the games I've played have been one sided affairs. Either I'm on the team that's doing well, so in turn I do well, and other times I'm on a team that can't shoot the broad side of a barn, so I do very poorly as a result.

Just came out of a very even match, that we only lost at the end where the Helgan used one of the Vanguard weapons to great effect (I've only just discovered they even exist, let alone how they work :D)

I still havent played much...maybe a dozen matches. I still think its pretty awesome. I actually do pretty good in this game.

Sometimes the scoring is super weird. Its obvious some people are just interested in their own KDR and don't give a monkeys about the points. I did a match where we won 36 to 32 and I scored about 25 of the points lol. The only time the other team caught up was in the "kill them all" section at the end. They weren't poor players, we died lots, it just doesn't mean that much points wise when you're hacking or interrogating.

It sucks when you want your cash bonus for a win at the end and you get put on a team that doesn't give two shits about the win, but if we fall too far behind I just follow suit and make my money doing hacks/interrogations/explosive kills and what not so it's not too much of a wash.

Think the game plays great, looks beautiful. Will be a day one purchase for me. They've done an absolutely fantastic job. KZ's always been an interesting universe to play in because the "good" guys are every bit as big a group of assholes as the "Bad" guys are. Can't wait for the single player, but I'm amazed how good the multi actually is.

How is the Inferno shotgun?
I hate it, though I'm not sure if it's because it sucks or because I suck. I've put 3 to 4 shots into guys at a semi-close distance, and they don't die from it. I wish the Vita had the PS4 recording feature so I could go back and see if I remember things correctly. Either way, I haven't gotten a single kill with it.

At least the M82 is as awesome as ever.

you're not the only one who hates it.

it takes me a good 3-4 shots to bring someone down. idk why it takes so long for someone to go up in flames

I guess it's mainly down to that. I am just not used to the Vita Analog sticks. I seemingly can't cope with how small of an actual physical way they move to each side.

I must say however that gyro aiming usually helps with that stuff. It was just hard to really test that out at Gamescom, with everyone bumping into me while playing.

If my financial situation gets better, I'll be probably getting a Vita for Mercenaries next Year. It really seems like a perfect portable game even if I'm not really hot for the controls atm.

No matter how I adjust the controls they always feel....hmmmm? Kinda tight when I first start to move/aim, then it kinda gets loose and floaty.

I blame getting use to, and prefering, mouse and keyboard for fps.

I feel the same way. I've been trying to get used to it, but I just can't. Minimal movement of the stick doesn't do much, but the moment I try to move them more, I always overshoot my target. Hell, I've lost firefights at point blank range where I had a 1 second advantage because of this.

I'm not normally this incompetent on a fps with a controller, but the vita sticks are just.... different.

Is there any party mode in the beta? Tried making a match ( couldn't add anyone) and joining a friend who was also playing,(no names of players showed up) none of which seemed to work.

Also did some skimming through and still had a question about the hack mini game. Am I trying to match the center hexagon with the outside hexagons? Or am I trying to fill in the missing pieces?

You have to match the center hexagon with the outside hexagon. It´s quite easy and quick when you get used to it and it can provide you with many points.

Got a chance to play a match last night; game looks fantastic. I'm looking forward to getting to play the campaign in a couple weeks (days?).

I was having trouble getting into to a match though, game kept saying I lost the connection and made me start the search again. It only happened while searching, the game ran fine once I managed to joined a match. Anyone else have this issue?

Just a few fps more and I'd be totally happy with the frame rate, but as it is now it's messing with my aiming a little bit. Really impressed anyway.

I find it so annoying how many people ignore the objectives and just focus on killing the other team. My overall KD ratio is probably about 0.7 but I always finish at or near the top of the scoreboard because I actually complete the damn objectives! It's especially annoying during Interrogation when teammates are just mowing the others down without pause.

Yeah, I can't wait for the full game, mostly because people like that will have different modes to play.

Man, I had some terrible matches last night. First match was mosty 1v4. Near the end someone joined me. Next match had a full team...of people that thought it was tdm. I tried to do the objectives but I would just get hammered. I got frustrated and decided to play dragons crown.

I just spawned right into my own valore card :D

I hope they'll add another map or another mode to the Beta. I'm now at 20hours in the same mode on the same map :D

wow i can't get into a match to save me life. was in the middle of one and the timer and everything just quit. everyone could still move and shoot but there was no score. i hope they get their server issues worked out because i love this game
