Killzone Shadow Fall - Ultra High Bitrate MP Footage

bryWwH0.jpg

you must be joking..

I'm at half of that speed :P

Just noticed, in the new build there's a lot more debris and particles etc flying around behind the Helghan.

Nah, pretty sure you're just seeing things since they had to downgrade everything for their target framerate.

:D

The fact that this is a launch game still floors me but coming from GG, it's not surprising. One of the most underrated studios out there on all levels.

Wow, the detailing on the clothes was massively improved. GG really wasn't kidding when they said all of the assets in February were placeholder. I like the look of the new lighting there as well.

That's what caught my eye first. The way the light shines through the transparent parts during the transition looked really cool.

This is looking really good. I went to put down a preorder today and walked away with the game in hand. Now I have KZ:SF and a DS4 and just have to keep reminding myself to be patient for another week and a half.

Those god rays were actually there before as well, just lower quality. I was referring more to the more greenish hue compared to the orange.

When is the review embargo?.

I Am impressed how little of this game have been shown. Basically 4 sp level and couple of mp.

Can't wait.

Oh! Never noticed it back then!

Nice, hadn't seen this till now. I've been really busy with personal stuff (health reasons, let's just say it hasn't been fun lately).

This is nice distraction.

Just caught this post. Hope you're ok dude and whatever the problems you're facing are, you manage to get through with minimal trouble.

What he said. :)

Holy shit, that character model looks way better compared to the ps3 meeting one. Not just technically but artistically too. I was actually a little let down by the initial helghast designs but that looks fantastic

I just listened to the beyond podcast where they said PS4 reviews would be out within a week, but they still can't reveal when exactly they would be out.

Hope things get better for you soon.

Thanks guys, appreciate the concern. :) GAF is the best.
I'll be fine though, just had a CT Scan yesterday and the results were good. So my doctor thinks it was a reaction to one the medications I take. (I won't bore you with the details, but I have Crohn's disease and the drug Humira is no joke.)
Video games definitely help me in rough spots, but thankfully I've been in remission for the past two years or so.

Best of luck man. I hope you the best. Stay strong.

It does look quite fantastic. Amazing work by GG. More devs need to do this, even if it's just a 1 minute or so worth of footage.

Wow, wish you the best, man. Stay strong and, most important, stay positive.

Glad to hear
you are in remission. My wife was diagnosed with Crohn's about 11 months ago, and is on Humira as well. Crohn's is a real fucker.

Just got a chance to watch the new high quality multiplayer video and holy crap, does that look good. I think it's the fidelty plus the smooth framerate that really makes it stand out over current gen. With most games we get now you come to expect anything with high detail to run like shit. I'm so glad we can finally say goodbye to that.

I'm curious to see the difference between single player and multiplayer now. Are there any particular effects that are only in single player? Or is it just that single player uses bigger maps and lots of AI that contributes to the lower framerate? Either way, this game will be an orgasmic first game of the launch experience.

I dunno if there's extra particle effects, but there is definitely more fog and more complicated geometry in the single player portion of the forest level.

Looks pretty amazing.

Damn that looks fantastic. Can't wait to see that in full glory on my tv. That video is actually giving me Metroid Prime vibes, which is awesome.

I am probably going to get this if I can pull of the Target B2G1 deal, but this footage didn't do anything for me. It seemed to flat, everything had sharp edges and looked lifeless. I think it might be a case of having such high resolution and detail I just think it's fake. It's more detailed than TV.

Uhh they're both MP.
You are wrong, funny enough.
I've realized that now :P

There's no way that this is a serious post.

So who's doing the OT?

Killzone: Shadow Fall | OT | It's more detailed than TV.

That's false, in my experience. Wider FOV+60FPS = dizzy city for anyone I know who has this problem in the first place. Basically the more saturated the brain is processing the 'fake' visual information, the more prone people tend to be to this problem. Same reason why so many complained about feeling dizzy from watching HFR version of Hobbit on a huge theater screens. This is especially the issue when someone is not in control of the movement, but just watching others play.

Generally, FoV needs to match the sitting distance from the screen. The closer you sit, the wider the FOV can be while retaining the normal look. This game, and by extension, this video, should be watched on a TV sitting at a normal TV distance from it. The FOV won't look odd then.

I had to look it up, it's been like seven years since I did the experiments, I guess we didn't find significant effects for the geometric FOV per se:
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0003687009001586
(I'm not on the author list of this particular paper, but did help set up the experiment)
though it's kind of confounded by whether people move their heads or not. If they do, it's hypothesized that smaller FOV is a problem, if they don't, larger FOV is.

Anecdotally, lots of people reported cybersickness problems when Half-Life 2 came out. This game had a FOV of 75, where 90 was the norm back then, so it was actually closer to what would be the realistic FOV (30-40 degrees dependent on distance to screen), but caused a lot more nausea. I would venture that this is because people had to get used to the new FOV setting; after a couple of exposures we noticed a strong attenuation effect.

Yep, seriously angular graphics.

(I sort of agree with you; e.g. the guy running looks completely off, it's seeping into uncanny valley territory, but we'll probably laugh about it in a year time, when we're used to it)

Wanted to make a proper comparison so I tried to align the two trailers as well as I could.

I apologize for anyone on smaller screens as this is quite wide. (1536x432)

1080p - more detailed than life itself.
