Kim Wu revealed for Killer Instinct Season 3

Did Kim Wu in KI2 even have a Personality

Like all I remember is that her and Spinal were rivals

Did...anyone in KI before the reboot have personality outside of Orchid being sexbait and Combo being a caricature

I don't recall her being a spoiled bubblegum brat back then, so no reason to make her like that this time. She should be a strong, serious character imo. Kind of like a Chun-Li with nunchuks. This fanart could have provided some inspiration:

But whatever, I hope they put way more effort into Tusk. They cannot fuck up the designs of both S3 returning characters.

All of the women in the KI reboot are strong and serious, to the point where their personalities kind of blend together to be nonexistent

Kim Wu, a short peppery fighter full of energy and wit is kind of necessary at this point, just for variety.

Let Orchid and Maya be the serious types

As said before she does need some model work. I'm sure they can iron that out. As long as fans are vocal about it, it can get done.

Tusk is going to be different as well. There's no time travel in the new KI.

So is this the thread of "I demand all fictional characters be beautiful?"

If so, then every female in Street Fighter looks butt ugly. The curves to muscle ratio is horrifying. Not to mention the costume designs. Ugh.

Look how snooty I am.

Pay attention to my petty criticism.

Wow, so many people are complaining about her face.

I don't know, I think it looks very good; like, I can compare her face to people I've seen in real life, and that is in no way an insult. It's much better than the female faces from Netherrealm studios.

Oh hey it's Janet Jackson!

Oh here is Janet Jackson again!

It's Janet Jackson again, but this time she is wearing leopard skin!

I think someone really liked Janet Jackson.

This is why KI designs mostly suck in KI1/2. Pointless sex bait for uninspired characters

Orchid is serious? She seems fairly cheerful to me. I mean just listen to her theme.

I'm not against "different", that's not what I don't like about Kim Wu. I've liked every old character redesign until now, especially the Double Helix ones. Iron Galaxy did a better job with new characters in S2 imo, but Maya and Combo are still ok, and Riptor is awesome. Kim Wu just looks terrible in comparison.

Orchid's overly serious to the point of paranoia. Her stage music doesn't do much to illustrate her personality, it's pretty much just intended to be a "hi energy" track.

And Orchid has far more reason to be serious than Kim Wu's story has ever given reason to. Kim Wu is simply a young girl that reluctantly inherited her responsibility... rather suddenly too (as soon as Gargos shows up again).

Spoiled american bubblegum teen attitude.

Asian martial artist.

You really don't get what I'm saying with "it doesn't fit"?

No, I don't get what you're saying. I think it can fit imo

This is basically Kim Wu's character in KI2. If you take this and put it on a girl in modern times then yeah, I can genuinley see Kim Wu being like she is in the trailer. She says she's a student and the stereotype for students are to be arrogant and to have attitude. It can fit.

Not really?

Coming of age style story about a young person that has probably turned away from tradition until they realize all the weird shit the older generations believe is real. It's a pretty common archetype.

I've liked and enjoyed all the re-designs of classic characters in KI but this design for Kim Wu and the generic environment (while nicely made) is pretty uninspiring compared to what came before.

Hope it has to do with the art not being finished and not a taste of what's to come for season 3.

To be honest... if we were talking "modern Korean" (assuming they still intend her to be), it'd make perfect sense right now.

Yeah, you're right. If a young, modern-day college girl was told she is the saviour of the world mere months ago before an acient threat appeared, then absolutely the two can work together. People don't change attitudes over months. If Kim is the type of person that takes things jokingly with a teenage attitude, then why would she stop now.

What the heck at the negative posts, I read them before watching the trailer and was expecting something terrible, she looks cool.
And she looks fantastic compared to her OG design, now that was awful.

The dialogue can be argued for though, but eh, I'm fine with it.
