Kim Wu revealed for Killer Instinct Season 3

I feel like I can't make a full judgement on the aesthetics until they fix the model. Kim Wu's model looks really rough technically. At the start of this trailer I thought maybe the model looked rough as a trade off for special effects with her move set. However, there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary technically. (I do like her move set though.)

I don't mean to sound like those people moreover her model borders X360 rough up close. (Disclaimer: I'm saying the way X360 graphics can suffer from artifacts not that this could run on X360.) Next to shadow Jago's model it looks even worse.

Maybe it's just an early look. Then again, the KI character reveal trailers (at least to me) have always had the reveal character model look good up until now. (Not counting Maya's rough animations that got better later on.)

EDIT:
To be fair, the models don't need to look up close during the fights as you're not zoomed in and probably won't notice in action. Moreover, I'm kind of surprise the model is this rough.

Wasn't she Korean? Her name's Kim Wu. Just cause she had the face of a black woman - Janet Jackson - didn't make her one.

If her name was just "Kim Wu" perhaps that hints at her being Korean, but if Kim was just short for "Kimberly", she could be Chinese, considering Wu is also a Chinese surname. Everything in that trailer(from how she's dressed to the Chinatown location), might hint at the latter being so. She does, at least, look Asian this time around. Damn, KI2 had godawful character/model designs.

She'll probably have more work done on her. Same thing happened with TJ. Most of their character reveals are for not yet finished characters.

This trailer, the chinese characters in the background, and the emphasis on dragons makes me think chinese (also the Big Trouble in Little China refernce). The lyrics in the song were indecipherable in the trailer though.

Despite Mick Gordon not being involved in Season 3 the music actually sounds pretty good. Maybe I will be looking forward to the soundtrack after all. :)

Buffy The Vampire slayer vibe.

I'm into it.
She has that Cordelia vibe (from Buffy The Vampire Slayer), it doesn't suit her "I'm the hero/protector of my people" shtick she is suppose to portray.

Oh hey it's Janet Jackson!

Oh here is Janet Jackson again!

It's Janet Jackson again, but this time she is wearing leopard skin!

I think someone really liked Janet Jackson.
She was the bomb in the 90's!!

Should could have Asian ancestry and be from america.

Boom.
Not that hard
Why.....she wasn't originally.

That dialogue, yeesh. It's an avalanche of try hard.
Agreed, it's Frat Boy Cinder type of bad.

Why doesn't she look like Janet Jackson anymore?

#bringbackjanet
Cause Janet Jackson doesn't look like Janet Jackson anymore. So why should she.

WTF !, is this a Big Trouble In Little China?.

The stage look the like street with the fight scene, the character Kim Wu is fighting looks like Dave LoPan and Jack Buttons lorry makes an appearance at the end.....genius!!

I kind of agree, but to me, everything about KI is over-the-top/full of 'tude. It's managed to do a good job of being a throwback 90s game (look at that new menu screen explosion!) while introducing really great modern mechanics/systems and such.

In any other game, this stuff would bother me (Rash, Cinder, Kim Wu in particular), but in KI, I feel it works okay. I know everyone loves Mick Gordon, but to me, the score is really over-the-top in a way that would normally make me roll my eyes. In the context of the game, those cheesy as fuck guitar tones and edgy metal guitars in the background work. I think the same about Kim Wu/Buffy. She reminds me of early episodes/first film Buffy. Not really grasping the enormity of her responsibilities/still being kind of immature.

Beyond the dialogue, I think she looks great and seems like a great addition to the cast.

Haven't been following this game a ton lately but I'm getting kind of hyped for season 3 after seeing what is coming in it. Does anyone know if they had said anything about adding Dojo mode for all the characters?

Why.....she wasn't originally.

And Orchid was originally an over-sexualized woman.
And Riptor wasn't cybernetic.
And Maya was an ancient Amazonian queen.
And Ultratech didn't have an artificial intelligence as its CEO.

Shit changes. That's how reboots work.

It's better than her terrible original design but still kind of bad. Her personality is also super annoying though even though I like the idea behind it.

how many caucasian characters are in KI? isn't every human pretty much a minority? they all looked mixed to me or pure ethnic.

cause, no offense, this is sounding like another "not black enough" issue in yet another fighting game.

Lol, I never really thought about it, but you're totally right.

Jago = Tibetan
Sabrewulf = Werewolf who could be a white guy but who knows
Glacius = alien
Thunder = Native American
Sadira = Thai
Spinal = Skeleton man who was a white guy
TJ Combo = black
Maya = South American
Kan-Ra = Babylonian
Riptor = dinosaur
Omen = demon
Aganos = golem
Hisako = Japanese
Cinder = Fire man who maybe was a white guy but who knows
ARIA - robot
Kim Wu = Korean
Arbiter - alien
Tusk = white guy
Gargos = gargoyle
Rash = Frog man
Orchid = At least half-Tibetan

So minus any of the monster people who may or may not have been white guys, there's literally only one white guy in the game (Tusk). Never noticed it before.

You forgot Orchid.
Spinal and Cinder WERE white guys (centuries-old Swedish pirate and American solder-turned-thief, if you read their extended bios), but the point that they are inhuman now is still valid.

Jago = Tibetan
Sabrewulf = as an old time count Konrad, probably white
Glacius = alien
Thunder = Native American
Sadira = Thai
Spinal = white guy, Viking?
TJ Combo = black
Maya = South American
Kan-Ra = Babylonian
Riptor = dinosaur
Omen = demon
Aganos = golem
Hisako = Japanese
Cinder = white (American?) guy
ARIA - robot
Kim Wu = Korean
Arbiter - alien
Tusk = white guy
Gargos = gargoyle
Rash = Frog man
orchid - tibetan (you missed)

Like the design but the modeling on her face is real bad...it's not a question of subjectivity it just looks ineptly made and mannish. Hopefully it will improve before release.

Her face will probably be tweaked still (as well as the rest of her) but her profile in the OP seems caught mid expression with her eyes wide open. She looks way better just a few frames later

Do we know if new Cinder is actually a white guy though? I mean he probably is but after the reboot he might not be. Or did they show him pre-transformation somewhere?

You didn't fix it. Jago is canonically her half-brother, they don't share the same racial background.
Fixed again though I think the point is made as is.

I guess you're right. I kinda hope he's not, because then the only black characters would fill just racial tropes, what with Cinder being a criminal and all.

I thought Sadira was meant to be Persian?

And I wonder if Tusk will stay white or if they'll switch his Conansque inspiration.

I think people are disappointed not only because of the model but the design itself esp when compared to season one. Those characters made from double helix had so much going for them, they looked very well re-imagined. Since iron galaxy took over, it's been a hit or miss with how they design the characters, it's as if they focus too much on how the character works in the game than how to make them appealing to new and old eyes and ears. Dropping Mick Gordon was another major blow in my opinion, he made sounds that actually made the character much more appealing but I suppose it's hard to see especially since opinions differ

If you listen to the video when the truck busts in the dev says "yeah the pork..." And stops. lol It's absolutely the Porkchop Express but I'm sure legally they can't say that. lol

While I think her design is great, if you're correct that they worry about gameplay first then that's obviously the right mentality when making a game. Especially a fighter.
