"All told, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror is a great entry in the Kirby library of games. The platform mechanics are solid, as always, and the adventure is certainly fun. The single-player game is engaging; it features a wealth of items to collect and it rewards you with an extra minigame mode as well as a new accessory once you've finished it. The four-Kirby mechanic is interesting and it works well in multiplayer. If you're looking for pure platforming action with plenty of variety, Kirby's latest adventure most certainly fits the bill."

All told, I've been much awaiting a new Kirby game. One that's good in its own right. I might pick this and the Kirby's Adventure remake up soon (thanks, Best Buy!)

Ya for more Baby Games*

*According to EGM.

I know, I saw that, and I thought, either they're trying to be funny (and that's not a very original or remotely funny joke), or maybe they're trying to appear cool to all their 12 year old homeboys who are too cool for the Kirb. Either way, booo EGM for not even reviewing it and sticking it in the baby section.

Can anyone confirm EGM's description of the world being Metroid-style in this one? Or are the levels broken up like Nightmare in Dream Land?

I found this Kirby release to be quite annoying actually. It's quite disorientating and you end up replaying the same areas many, many times to get to where you need to go. It's cool that there is often more than one way to pass most barriers, and the boss fights are cool, as is the ability to call up your Kirby friends for help, but the massive feeling of repetition turned me off this about 25% of the way into the game.

Starfi, on the other hand, is a future classic. They should really release it in the States to let more people see it. It's a proper modern day Kirby, really. I've got to start playing through 3 to see the cameos :)

It is similar to Metroid in some ways. Basically in that the whole world is connected like Metroid, but that structure is a bit clunky and not as fun as Metroid. All in all, it would've been a much better experience had they stuck with the Kirby structure and not this new fangled idea.

I can confirm that Kirby kicks ass and is very non-linear, similar to Metroid but not as tightly structured, since you can go pretty much anywhere at any time by sucking up the right enemy nearby. This is the longest Kirby game since at least Super Star, maybe longer, and the co-op mode (requires multiple cartridges) is great.

I felt the same way until I figured out how to use the map to get around more efficiently. Then the repetition is minimal, no worse than backtracking in Metroid.
