Selling FromSoftware would not mean selling their gaming business. Kadokawa's main gaming business is and always has been Kadokawa Games, which is an entirely separate business from FromSoftware and has been around much longer than the acquisition of FromSofware, and I wouldn't be surprised if you did not even know of its existence.

But again, that's what you get from reading articles that have to identify Kadokawa as "FromSoftware's parent company" instead of simply as Kadokawa, one of the biggest publishers and IP owners in the world. Pretty much like they would refer to Take-Two as "Rockstar's parent" because clickbait.

DS sold ok. guess an example being its either $2m profits + 100 goodwill or $4m profits + 20 goodwill.

As someone who owns both and really has no investment in one of these consoles "winning", and doesn't give a fuck about Kojima (MGS or otherwise) - feels like this would be a blow to my friends who only own PlayStation since they seem to be more into his games. I don't think it would necessarily bring anything to Xbox I do think it kinda fucks over PlayStation fans a bit tho

I knew what the partnership involved before, and the one thing it doesn't involve is any kind of say in the ownership of anyone's studios. Sony can sell studios. Cyberagent can sell studios. Kadokawa can sell studios. They can do whatever they want with their own property. I can't really explain it easier than this. It's absolutely hilarious that you'd even unironically believe a massive corporation like Kadokawa would let other companies limit their ability to handle their *property* freely for a paltry 1.93% stake.

Incidentally, I've had extensive work contacts with Kadokawa Games and still do, so I'm pretty familiar with how their business works.

It sounds like he has a few games he's working on. Maybe this game is a smaller project while the bigger one, (death stranding 2?) takes awhile to get up and running. Remember e3 2013 where ms showed of mgs5 for the first time and lied that it was exclusive?

I wanted to like Death Stranding. The online element was one of the more novel concepts we've seen since Demon Souls messaging/invasion/co-op mechanics, but boy did just about everything else bore me to tears. It would have been a much better 8-12 hour experience than 40 hours it asked of players.

If Kojima does a horror game, I hope it ends up on the PS5 at some point. I really want to see a developer go to town with the haptics.

The world was just dead and empty, with nothinng to see, nothing to find, nothing to explore, just annoying bumbling about walking, with the odd enemy to get past. And the less said about all the confusing menu's, the better.

Only Kojima would think of making a game like that, and only he would get away with it lol.

One of my favorite open world games is barren and it's a joy to be in. I probably beat SOTC at least once a year. It's probably the game play loop that does it for me though. Eventually you fight a bad ass colossus in SOTC. In Death Stranding, I feel like I should be signing up for Uber or Door Dash and making some money with the time I'm spending.

the only issue i have with DS is having to click through toooo many menus. most of the time i gave up half way reading the mission briefs.

otherwise it is a game full of creativity bravery.

The game was bad. Period.

Spoiler: Reasons

The game had obsolete mechanics, it was a walking simulator, had a story full of clichés and plot-holes (for a supposedly story-driven game), no original or memorable soundtrack, and zero replayability.

The development of Death Stranding was all over the place and even Kojima's parter in founding the studio was sick of it. If anything, it gave birth to some hilariously bad parody games.
