Kojima on O.D "Something Totally Different" - People Will Either Love it or Hate it. Real Evaluations Will Come After 10, 20 Years.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Following Death Stranding, Kojima Productions announced two new titles with scarce details. Physint will return to the action/espionage formula of Metal Gear Solid; meanwhile, a short trailer for something called OD features the eerie digitally rendered faces of actors Sophia Lillis and Udo Kier, disembodied and mostly screaming. (Hunter Schafer is also supposed to star in the game.)

Kojima describes the game as "something totally different…people will love it or hate it."

Whenever OD comes out, he'll read all the tweets, watch the YouTube videos, scan all the reviews. But the reception won't matter to him then. Kojima is confident enough to know the legacy of his body of work will be defined much later. "The real evaluations come after—10 or 20 years from now," he says.

He should motion capture himself as solid snake fucking his bestie doritos pope dressed like kojima

Man, what happened to Kojimbo? He was legendary back when he was at Konami, now sounds like he smells his own farts from a champagne glass...

the guy is the thom yorke of the videogame industry. Just insufferable really.

DS2 is a 6/10 at best and here we have god himself telling the pesants his work is ahead of it's time and were all too stupid to see it yet.

Sounds like one of those 'underrated misunderstood classic' games that will be spotlighted by a youtuber years from now.

And I like those game spotlights

OD? This is a cloud game from. It looks like a virtual character growth, or taking care of an AI. I'm more excited with Physint.

Damnit, why does Xbox always get the experimental stuff?🤷🏽‍♂️

He needs to just come out and say it's a live playable movie at this point

That is why they are very based. That woke toxic masculinity agenda does not affect them.
I agree with the first sentence, but this has nothing to do with culture wars, wokeness, or toxic masculinity.

Most artists are simply cocky in general and partly because they have to be to sell their ideas to publishers and the public. Because people can usually tell when they don't believe in what they've created.

If you don't believe me listen to some Amy Hennig developer-walkthroughs or interviews. She was also cocky/confident about Uncharted because she knew she had a hit project on her hands.

"But doctor, there's a lump on my breast!"

"Could be something. Could be nothing. See Gladys at the front desk and set an appointment for 20 years from now to find out. Have a nice day."

He was already self-aggrandizing by the time he made Ground Zeroes, but people here jerked off that $40 demo like no tomorrow.

Has nothing to do with that, look at the shit he's saying "I'm too cool to do samey games you mere mortals, I'm gonna create something only I can do and no one would be able to appreciate the sheer geniusness of my work not until decades from now, I'm so ahead of time"

He said something like that about Death Borefest 2, about creating something different, unique or something, like if walking simulators weren't dime a dozen already...

He said the same thing about DS, and i thought both games are a waste of talent and time. Hopefully this isn't yet another game with no meat on the bone.

Was he not always like this since his Metal Gear Solid days ? I vaguely remember every mission in MGS5 having a credits roll with his name on it. If you happen to like his games, none of that should affect you. So why the sudden hate ? i dont get it.

it is going to be a piece of trash that only reviewers and people that like to feel more "enlightened" than those pesky gamers that actually like games to be fun will celebrate as the perfect game.

And when called out, they will say: "Kojima was once again proven right some lower IQ individuals didnt understand his MAGIC! his VISION!"

If this is the cat that hates oil while flying around everywhere, wearing glasses, drinking out of cups, etc., he is probably the first human that can fuck themselves and give that reach around to make it all better. Amazing.

He's 100% right though; audience and critical reception at time of release can reverse over time.

Its funny, I saw so many "classic" movies in empty theatres back in the 80's, Blade Runner, The Thing, etc. After they took a proper kicking by the critics too. So I really cannot disagree with the notion that greatness is an accolade best bestowed over time.

No, he wasn't, he got high on himself by that time tho, when Konami made him Vice President of some fancy occupation tailored for him there
