Kojima says Bowie song holds the key to understanding Metal Gear Solid V

The fallout is pretty well documented at this point and the connection to both the lyrics and the cover version spoil the ending of the game upon a second playthrough.

MGSV is the goat.

Amazing stealth mechanics but the story and atmosphere were garbage. Ground Zero was so much better in regards to level/map design. I got duped by Kojima and Konami because nothing in the actual game comes close to that map. Just open empty turdness.

Its fun game. But had 2 things that i hated. The spoilers in the credits of the intro in every mission. And the chapter 2. It could be called end game +? Bonus missions? But calling chapter 2 was like a mislead. It gives you hype and seconds after bring all that down. Was depressing.

...he is almost a decade too late and Hideo? Common my dude, even before the game released people had already unfolded the mystery. The instant the game started with that song players had all the confirmation they needed that their theory was right.

For the lazy:

[Verse 1]
We passed upon the stair
We spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there
He said I was his friend
Which came as some surprise
I spoke into his eyes, "I thought you died alone
A long long time ago"

[Chorus]
Oh no, not me
I never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

[Verse 2]
I laughed and shook his hand
And made my way back home
I searched for form and land
For years and years, I roamed
I gazed a gazely stare
At all the millions here
We must have died alone
A long long time ago

[Chorus]
Who knows? Not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
Who knows? Not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

I think his tweet has a double meaning and he's actually talking about how the song explains his development woes with Konami.

If anyone wants to follow the Bowie lore even deeper (and Bowie lore runs quite deep), this is the write-up of the song on BowieSongs, a blog famous for working its way through his entire catalogue and history in tremendous detail:

My man

I instantly thought of Cygnet Committee when I read this headline. I obsessed over that track back in college.

This song does something to me. It made my cry couple times it's so fucking intense

Can't explain it and sure as hell don't understand it. Appreciate your follow up post friend.

Uh, thanks for the Im14andthisisdeep, Kojima, but you still had a character pretend to be a another character because of "hypnosis".

Ahh the classic Destiny trick. "Look there's not time to explain the story go read about it on the website" but in this case it's a song
