I want to be mad but this

Set directly after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Survive sees the members of Militaires Sans Frontières not killed in that game’s finale transported through wormholes into an alternate universe, where they’re forced to battle a force of crystalline zombies and, it seems, at least one Metal Gear itself.

is one of the greatest plots i've ever heard in my life.

When I heard they would continue the franchise, I kinda expected like a new story with different characters. Not "fuck it we resident evil now". MGSV had good enough mechanics that I'm sure it will be fine, but at the same time why.

This game sounds better than Metal Gear Solid V.

- interesting enemies
- multiplayer that isn't completely based around pvp combat
- "crazy" premise that we haven't seen in the series for a long time

It's a co-op shooter in the MGSV engine. This is literally great for me.

This sounds rather uninteresting.
I really don't want to play a co-op zombie survival game.
I hope they are working on more than just this

This is what happens when you let your kids give you ideas for a new game

Is it just IGN calling them MSF? Cause they weren't referred to that once post Peace Walker AFAIK. Not sure if there was intervention from Doctors Without Borders or what.

Not my cup of tea but the canon arguments are silly after having to sit through a year of people arguing that a guy crawling through a hospital must be a hallucination because he's not using a wheelchair.

"Hmm... So, with Kojima gone, what should we do for our next Metal Gear?"

"Um.... co-op survival shooter?"

"Eh... Sounds alright, but it needs a little more"

"Crystal... zombies?"

"EU-FUCKING-REKA"

But it's not made by Kojima so it's dumb.

I mean, it's all dumb, but this is dumb and lazy, lol

Oh man...

I feared the worst for Metal Gear after all that happened. But this is even worse than that. All the classic signs of grasping at straws - Zombies, Alternative Universe and Multiplayer. This is the kind of game that shows a franchise is on the downward trend. It's like anime filler.

I'm genuinely just gutted to see this. I thought I prepared myself after V that that was it and Metal Gear was done but man... Gutted.

I actually had to read this part several times and honestly was not sure if it was a joke post or not.

not any better than nanomachine-infused superhumans or giant nuclear mechas

The MGS games always start relatively grounded and ramp up the craziness as the game goes on. They don't start with crystal zombies in an alternate dimension

I'm baffled that people don't see the difference between this and previous MGS games' premises

If MGS2 was introduced as "the game is a combat simulation from a giant mind-control robot" people would have the same reaction. But it wasn't.

It was ascertained by the way he was structuring his sentences that he was foreign, so maybe tomorrow something might happen? I'll post everything he said in order...he's also posting pictures with titles referring to things, so I'm excising that

This all just sounds like crap to me.

The chance of them gathering up all the voice actors to make more story content is super unlikely.

I watched the trailer. Lol. Wow. Erm. I dunno. If this is 19.99 or there's a cheap 4-pack on Steam.... I might get in on this.

....lol.

Haven't read the whole thread but the first few pages are people going crazy about there being wormholes and zombies. Both of which are in MGSV...

considering how cheesy metal gear spinoff writing has been before;

i really, really don't think zombies is that bad of a "twist" or situation. it could be interesting!

It's really only dumb because of the context of the game itself. These guys randomly get sucked into zombieland during the events of MGSV? Through a wormhole? (Yes I know wormholes exist in MGSV, but only due to the Diamond Dogs R&D department, and only for transport back to base).

...like, why?

As how bad the story was in MGS V I am fine with this. That game just had the worst MGS storyline ever. At least this one has a story.

He's done parallel worlds spin-off stuff before. MGS2: Substance and GZ: Extra Ops spring to mind.
As extras within for the sake of gameplay. But I guess without Kojima they're not interested in the story so maybe this is the logical step.

---

I'm not interested if it's unplayable without co-op, as I like to play at my own pace. But if it's like Peace Walker, I'll give it a whirl.
