Majority of this thread is flat out celebration. I joined GAF to leave Gamefaqs and the such behind. I guess they followed.
He literally doesn't know what he's talking about.
Sure they could have. It's just Kojima stepped in, and showed the world what the ps2 could do shortly after the japanese launch.
Knowing it could pull off MGS 2 made people take strong notice. The trailer, it's music, and it's effect on the industry made it pretty much the iconic moment of E3's for that generation.
Why do we want multiplat ports on the Wii U? Buy a PS4 for that. You own a Wii U for Nintendo games and exclusive third-party titles that Nintendo courted. People gotta stop acting like Nintendo "failed" by not being included in multiplatform plans. Nintendo boxes are companion consoles. You get them because they do things your PS4/720 doesn't.
Let's be honest. If they port bioschok infinite, given current sales for third parties, nintendo fans won't care about the game itself let alone the engine
Noone can really predict what will happen when ps720 launch. The 360 is selling decently now, but it's cheap as hell. The 720 wont be in the first few years. I don't really buy that the Wii crowd moved on either. Sure a big part of it has probably moved to tablets and phones for their quick game fix. But it has been 6 years since the Wii came out, almost 7, there should be a lot of fresh blood for some tv gaming. If not, then ps720 will struggle too.

I'd wager it will be completely dependent on uptake for each console.Agreed. It will be just like last time. Some games this fall will be cross gen, then sports titles for a year or two after that.
So maybe Wii U will get a few more sports games from EA...oh, right.
But WiiU owners don't care about these 'shitty' Western games, they only want the 'Cool' games like Kirbys Fun World etc...

So Nintendo can´t win?
Wii U is the Nintendo 64 2.0
$350 is a lot for many people to spend on a "companion" box
He sounds right to me, why would developers spend big money to pretty much make 2 seperate games just to support the WiiU (which they would need to when we are talking about PS4/720 games). It will be a lot easier and cheaper to port PS3/360 games to the WiiU than it would be to port a Next Gen game to it.

I think the fact that the thing could play DVDs was a pretty significant factor, too. Especially in the Japanese market.
Wooooosh, the Gies joke went over your head too.
The hell GAF? I thought the SimCity stuff was the talk of the forum![]()
Can Wii U run blast processing?
Dude, game cube had 3rd party support through out its entire life. This is FAR worse than game cube. Even the Wii had some decent 3rd party support for the first two years. This thing is being taken out back and shot before it even makes it to its first E3 by western 3rd parties. This is potentially heading into virtual boy territory if things do not change for the better.
Wait what?
literally could not be more wrong
I figured I'd ask straight-out, so during the Q&A with Rein, I did. "Will UE4 run on the Wii U?"
"Hahaha no." Rein said, with expert comedic timing. The room erupted with laughter.
VC isn't on the system yet, so who knows!
More proof that Nintendo messed up massively when they decided to release a Xbox 360 power level console in 2012. Made no sense 6 months ago, makes even less sense now that PS4 has been revealed.
It was a nifty feature, but I wouldn't discount the effect games like mgs 2 had on changing gamers opinions of the platform. The original impressions form the japanese launch were not exactly overly positive.
After that trailer, none of that mattered.
Whooosh or not. The joke has probably some truth in it.
Its going to be interesting to see What Nintendo does when their next consoles comes out eventually. I could see them willing to bend over for 3rd parties by that point and it could be interesting.

Wasn't the killer app for PS2 The Matrix DVD for like months after launch?
Think of the relevancy of those companies on Sony and Microsoft consoles.
It can stay the fuck away if every EA game is like Sim CityWe have experts weighing in:

Yeah, Nintendo didn't put out a $350 "companion box", because at best it means playing second fiddle to Sony's and MS's consoles. Nintendo does fail in making their console competitive with its counterparts, it's completely disingenuous to move goalposts and pretend it's not failing by changing the definition.

If there is a next console. They could conceivably go handheld only.
Why the hell would they do that? I hope Nintendo is clever enough to finally realise they are on their own supporting their console/handheld hybrid. And I think it could be the best time for Nintendo fans ever.
I'm not convinced. All these engines coming out are cross-generational (which explains why Ubisoft's games run like crap). Given costs, I think we'll see cross gen for a while.
We still won't see Wii U. Nobody cares.
Ocarina
Twilight Princess
Wind Waker
Majora's Mask
Skyward Sword
definite list of all times unquestionable truth bomb dropped.
