La-Mulana 2 Kickstarter: We'll Show That You Don't Need Big Names To Make Money

After having bought and played the last La Mulana, I will not be funding this one. The platforming portion of the game seemed unintuitive, and that's a large portion of it. It was frustrating, and not "fun-frustrating."

Ehh, I had fun.

And I finished the game on the hard difficult. I didn't even knew there was one hard mode. Just after I've finished the game I discovered this. :(

Would love to kickstart it but kickstarter only favors people that have a credit card so its a pretty aweful platform if they want international backers.

International Credit Cards exists. I'm from Brazil and use one. Most people are just lazy to know how to get one.

$200,000 seems high to you to create a whole video game?

You're paying 6 people for 2 years.

I agree with this. Actually, it seems too low to me. Low to the point where I'd question if they've really thought out how much it's going to realistically cost them and what will be sustainable for the time table they're shooting for.

Well, I'm in. Looks like a great project. I have a love/hate relationship with the first one, and I kind of won't mind if the game is a tad bit more accessible than the first one. Mystery is one thing, whipping walls to find not-wall-chicken-but-where-you're-supposed-to-go is not my idea of a great time. So... maybe less of that for people who aren't sadists.

I tried to play La-Mulana, but damn the game is way too hard or complicated for me. It's more like Metroid than Super Metroid, which is a problem. The beginning is what make me the most meh the game. Why dont they give you the scanners from the start? Why do they start you in the village without actually start you talking to the priest.

A lot of problems. Might check it out, let's hope it's less rough than the first game.

It was pretty much intended that way. The original creator made it with the idea that most people will never complete it. The interesting thing about it is that it's apparently fairly quick to run through (assuming you're good at platformers) if you already know where everything is.

Backed instantly. Fuuuck La Mulana though. I love that game, but even with extensive guide and video watching I just cannot fucking figure it out and have been stuck in the same spot for weeks now.

Amazing game!
I still haven't finished it. A single detail can be the difference between getting stuck and progressing. Its pretty easy to hit that point of "wandering around aimlessly for weeks" unless you're willing to use a guide.

I've used the walkthrough more than a couple of times and I still got stuck again and again to the point here I burned out.

Starting fresh with LM2 wouldn't be out of the question, though.

was the first one any good? Always wanted to play it
Very good but it's basically like the original Metroid with the difficulty cranked up to 100, with really obtuse puzzles and very little handholding. One of the most truly hardcore games I've ever played.

This is why I'm so afraid of playing the game. I don't mind hard puzzles, I just mind puzzles where the clues or solutions can be anywhere in the game, because what happens is what you said..we can spend many many hours just looking for those clues, and if we go by them and miss them...then it's almost impossible to figure it out.

What I like about games like Swapper or Toki Tori (1 ) is that they put you in a room, and you know that the solution is there. You don't have to go find the solution somewhere in a big world. It's you, the room, and the puzzle.

Almost all of the clues are written on big glowing tablets that are impossible to overlook, or come from NPCs. Most of the rest are subtle little graphical cues.

I would like to back this but I don't want to create a playism account. When they offer an option to distribute over Humble I'll be in for $40/$45.

Eh, a Playism account is really not a big deal, since you can hook up yer Twitter account and basically use that as a Playism account.

I pitched in last night for $40. I never actually played the original, but I'd like to see games like this succeed.

Awesome game. But not my cup of tea.

Dropped it after 17 hours and not even reaching the half.
And I was using help already.

Tempted to up my pledge to $35 just for the soundtrack. Apparently it'll include music from both games. The music in that game was awesome.... sooo tempting.

I pledged $45. I never played or heard of La-Mulana before this, but the buzz and design concept have gotten my on board.

I like it when developers watch videos of players dying while laughing sadistically.

Is it normal for several payments being activated in my amazon account after changing my pledge? I see the original amount I did, then the upgraded amount and now the final amount I upgraded with the extra shipping costs.

$5,000: LUMISA (Limited)

You will get a limited edition Lumisa figure to watch over your room or office, along with all of the MERCHANT tier rewards. For backers outside Japan, please include an extra $30 for shipping. This tier is limited to 5 backers.

This always bugged me about kickstarters. If i'm paying 5k to show you support above and beyond reason, you're really gonna nickel and dime me about shipping some useless trinkets?

Stop me if this is a stupid question, but how is $200,000 going to fund a year's worth of development on a game? That's like 2-3 developers for a year.

Edit: Actually nvm, that probably really was a dumb question since NIGORO is apparently 3 people...

I don't know the situation but I am guessing they already have a certain amount for a budget but it isn't enough.
