I honestly thought the roof bit was pre-recorded and using shit CG. Nope, those were drones and she actually did that tethered jump. Wow. Whole thing was great, and I'm not a big fan.

First time watching her performances. Only recognized one song, though I could not attribute it to an artist before watching this half-time show (Bad Romance). Certainty an interesting artist.

lol at the "meh" responses. She jumped from the roof of a stadium, proceeded to do some acrobatics, ran back and forth across most of the field, played the piano, played the keytar, danced throughout - all while singing live (pop + country) and staying on key. And then ends her performances by dropping the mic, and catching a football as she falls a couple of stories high. That's one versatile and talented person

Uhhh. I don't think this turned out looking as cool as she wanted it to...

I'm a Gaga fan for the most part, but this was just another re-iteration of the national embarassment that is our Super-Bowl half-time show.

Fantastic show.

Joanne is great, by the way. People who disliked it on first listen should give it another chance or two.

Let's put it like this, at a Super Bowl party with about five Gaga fans out of all 15 of us, we sang a bunch of songs over her performance because we were bored

No Hands by Wocka was a popular one

No stage presence, clumsy choreo, singing lyrics in a weird accent, always looked uncomfortable except when sitting at the piano for Million Reasons.

I liked hearing old songs again but that's it. She should just retire and do jazz or equality speeches, her heart is not in show business anymore.

lol how in the fuck

I loved everything about this set. Doesn't get much more Gaga than that.

What happened to her? She dropped off the face of the earth and randomly does a superbowl halftime show.

Is she making new music or what?

Lmao. Ok.

It was Gaga through and through. It had a lot of her style and flair, and a nice variety of her songs. And major props for no lip syncing. All in all very entertaining.

It was so confusing reading the Superbowl thread during the halftime show. Half of you were saying it was amazing, and half of you were calling it total shit. Fucking GAF.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.

Welcome to the Velvet Room.

She didn't snatch many wigs or manage to slay but yaaaaas she did fall like a spider while being a mess. The jump was pre-recorded most likely, but I'll be needing the receipts for that. In the end she managed to jump in the iTunes chart and become queen again.

It was interesting. I wanted to know how she'd go about the performance, 'cause a lot of times it can be indicative of the artist's career. Katy Perry relied heavily on props, and features. Bruno had his classic showman persona on point. Beyonce was a technical, super polished performance. I wondered if Gaga's performance would look at all the aspects of her career, 'cause she's had quite an evolution. But the performance focused on the older Lady Gaga that most people probably associate her with - essentially, the mega dancy popstar. It was pretty strictly hits, hence Artpop's absence.

Absolute rubbish.

Love or hate her songs, you can't deny that she definitely has strong stage presence. She did good. She did very good.

Is she no longer interested in making popular music that people like anymore?
Her last album was a low-profile country-ish release, so probably not.

Great show, had a real joyful vibe to it. Was fun to watch.

I believe just the drone part of that first bit was pre-recorded due to FAA regulations?

I partially agree. I think she had stage presence, as always, and she's still one of the most talented artist in the business but the performance was more like a Gaga tribute to her early career. In the end she delivered what people expected from a half time show of Gaga but I think she would have prefered to perform as her Joanne persona. The show was still good but I can predict she will probably retire after the next couple of album.

Seemed kinda short? Idk I guess it was because of them bringing out guests or maybe I didn't care for them but it felt like the Beyoncé/Bruno/Coldplay/Katy Perry performances took a while.

Gaga did really good though, kinda sad to that Joanne got 1 song and Artpop got ignored. I kinda wonder if she agreed to do the show just so she can say she did. She seems past this sort of thing judging by the kind of music she's been putting out recently.

I like that she didn't do any features. They are nice but they really take away from the artist (unless you are Beyoncé and can bring in your old backup artists to perform with you but not everyone has that luxury or history).

...wait, those were drones?

I legitimately thought the opening was pre-recorded with a green screen background.

I thought it was the best Halftime show in the last ten years with the exception of last year's. Maybe I'm crazy though. She felt like less of a one hit wonder, love the costumes, sang great, just overall really solid.

Haven't watched the while thing but I thought it wasn't the outrageousness or controversy I'd expect from Gaga. It was way too safe overall.
