I was going to say "no, she's just naturally laid back".

a reader called her out on the last 1upFM. she tried to respond but failed, must have been too high to form a proper sentence.

Tina: Whatever this guy is jus..... what were we talkin about....Oh yeah COD4....wait what...

Clearly she has opinions that must be heard. Way to go 1up

They need to kick Teenah of any podcast.
She made 1up yours awful, and is the reason I wont listen to anymore of her podcasts.

I wanted to hear Anthony talk about The Witcher, but every time he mentioned it someone would just shoot him down to talk about second life or some other bullshit :(
I support the divergent topics, but there definitely needs to be less cutting off, especially if it's completely unrelated. At the very least, let someone finish their main line of thought on the subject.

I honestly listened all the way through just to see if Anthony would go apeshit on one of the girls for cutting him off.

revision of original post:

this is almost like they let a bunch of shawn elliott fans get together and talk about how cool he is. talk about something new =(

Never let Alice on this show again. She's a fucking horror.
She's just way too off-topic and always manages to change the subject once they're on to something. I wouldn't even mind if this was a different podcast, but even GFW managed to have PC-related discussions in-between their usual shtick.

It is a mess. I have a general distaste for Tina for some reason, not personally, but on podcasts and such. I think its because I feel she has an underwhelming experience with videogames.

Alice reminds me of the stereotypical annoying SoCal Asian American girl. It's hard to pinpoint, but it's a combo of her voice inflection and general scatterbrain nature. Trust me, I know hundreds of girls just like her, all just as annoying :lol

no robert OR matt? god damn it. what happened the last time you fools tried that? Learn from that shit.

Wow, this is really quite bad...

First step towards any sort of redemption would be to ban any and all females...

Sorry, I love the ladies, just not on my podcasts...

Eh? This is just stupid. When 1Up Yours sucks, it's because of all the interrupting. This is no different.

let's not blame the gender here... It's the people and their lack of robert and matt that makes them shitty.

Eh, I enjoyed it but I listen to so many podcasts that pretty anything will do the trick.
It did seem a little forced.
And as much as I love Anthony when's in the company of Robert or Jeff or Sean or Matt I don't think he can carry a podcast by himself.

He's a great second lead, but this week he was definitely the lead and it got a teensy bit annoying.

The chemistry is fine on LAN Party, but it's the cross-talking. It might just be me, but the girls on the cast seem to do it much more often, and I've noticed that Alice is a HUGE cross-talker.

Seriously, I had to turn Legendary Thread off because the cross-talking and interjections from Alice were just too much. The problem seemed to be fixed after a time with Demian as the lead, but now that he's gone, it's cross-talk nightmare.

Am I the only one who is a bit soured on podcasts in general? I think I'm gonna take a break for a few months before I become totally tired of them.

i deleted the file without listening to it when i found out there was no bobito. but now that everyone is finding it so completely and utterly shithouse i might dig it out of the recycle bin

when tina couldn't grasp why someone would want to play a football manager game, I shut this shit down. gawd gurrl...

And Alice breaking Anthony off twice on the witcher to go back to some uninteresting lulzy comment on second life was annoying as hell. And nobody even commented on it! D:

:\

I had high hopes for this, but it looks like it's all going downhill judging from the commentary. Running out of good PC podcasts, too. PC Gamer podcast is alright, but it's just another manufactured segmentcast, ala 1UP FM. Nothing at all like The Bordeo.

The second time she cut him off, I litterally thought she was being sarcastic or something, but then she kept going as if really believed whatever she had to say about second life was really more interesting...

I miss the intellligent deeper level conversation about games.
seems like this podcast is just one big shrug. no one seems that interested.
for those missing the old GFW vibe, check out the gamers with jobs podcast. shawn and jeff were on it a couple weeks ago if you need a lifeline to jump in.

please dont take any of this personally guys, we just need a little more hi-brow, and I think you are all capable of that.

time to separate the chuff from the chaff.

anthony, take the podcast and run. give matt and robert a call when you get to a safe place.

do that not, and you put it best.."it's dead."

Jesus christ it wasnt that bad guys. Give it a rest, youll give one or all of 'em a complex. (too late for that Im sure)

Tina

Yeah, I started to kick myself because I didn't realize that it was Tina at first. However, with the post excluded, how often do we see Anthony or any of the other talk with their audience? I realize that Tina had a thread on the 1up boards asking what listeners wanted to hear, but it's not the same as what Jeff and Shawn did.

So its Anthony, Tina, and Alice?

Just kidding, this podcast was horrible - made it though 15 minutes.

We should play a drinking game next time, whoever stops listening, take a shot.

The problem with this post is that they will read all of the feedback and zero in on this singular post and conclude that they're doing an awesome job, it's just the sexist haters complaining about women invading their space. Jane Pinckard was awesome, these women are not.

I wish people wouldn't make such rude comments about the podcast, like the one quoted above. What would Shawn or Jeff think if they read that shit? One of the things that the Brodeo was about was about creating food for thought.

So, most of the Brodeo crew leaves, and how do we act? Ban women from the podcast? Jesus, fellas.

Yeah, he posts here also. I think he goes by chuff-money? Also, I agree that the female bashing on the podcasts gets a little harsh. I think the main thing is with Tina, I think she's just kinda shy but I feel like as the new year approaches, she'll be even more confident. Alice seems comfortable enough, but she did cut off Chuff as he was trying to discuss The Witcher. I'm all for people having some fun while they talk about some games, just acknowledge when a game is trying to be discussed and know when to dial back a little on the comedy. I think Ryan is doing a good job as host. All in all, it just seemed like they were kinda out of it this week. Could just be they're kinda drained from all the games this past quarter. I think maybe they should just skip next week (if they were even gonna do one with the holiday?) and just start the new year refreshed and having had some time with some PC games to discuss. I don't know, I don't wanna give up on this show just yet...

*edit* beaten on the chuffmoney question*

Not to keep harping on this, but I wonder how much of the criticism they actually listen to. I know that Chuff and Tina are trying to get things on track, and I think they could get there if they listen to their audience. The problem is when most of it is negative, they might just say, "Fuck it."

This sounds silly, but I feel bad for the Lan Party crew. Too many people think of it as the second coming of the Brodeo when it isn't. If any of the Lan Party crew is reading this, the two biggest problems is that you lack someone who is outspoken and people who are able to properly articulate themselves. Too often conversations trail off and die.

The shows with Robert are good because he's wacky and will say off the wall shit. However, you can't depend on a freelancer since he won't always be there. The best piece of advice I can give is try new stuff. Don't be conservative.

What made the antics of the Brodeo legendary was that they were completely out of the blue. Heroes of the Web came and went after it outlived its usefulness. Merchant of Cool was probably out of the best examples of video game podcasts that I've experienced.

I'm not advising that you should copy Shawn, but rather look at why the things he did were so popular.

Don't worry, Internet tough-guys... I just wanted to say something controversal to get a reaction out of some of you...

Anyway, what podcasts was Jane a regular on? I remember her being more a part of the 1up video show rather than their podcasts.

And for what its worth,
I MISS JEN FRANK!

Things like avoiding "cross-talk" are just things that have to be learned---pretty much the hard way. I have no doubt that the crew is reading this (rough) thread and making a note of that kind of thing. It's the way I had to learn about my incessant "mmm-hmmms" all the time when other people were talking. I'm proud to say that my nephew is carrying on my legacy over at his college radio station (woot!), and he had to deal with people telling him to stop saying "ya know" all the time. (Not as bad as another guy on the station who said, before the show started, "Dude, stop fucking coughing!"---except that they were on the air. Whoooops. Can't do that on real radio!)

And, yeah, I'd watch the generalization about women. Pretty much all of us have had shitty podcast performances, and, last time I checked, I wasn't a girl. (Two times ago when I checked, though, I was a girl. Great rack, too!)

And Alice made me LOL quite a bit when I was with her on Legendary Thread....

I made a thread for GWJ this week. almost no one posted :(

it's still the best place for good gaming talk.

they don't go off topic like giantbombcast or LAN party or the old brodeo, but they're damn good at articulating what they love and hate about games. and they have good weekly discussion topics.
