Largest drop of games FPS boosted to date, bringing the total number of FPS boosted titles to 97

Agree. Sony need to compete in this area because they're seriously lacking.

I'd love to play UC4 in boost mode but nope.
I don't think Sony will care since Nintendo's Clearly doesn't, still it's a really great addition for Xbox Users

I bought the Assassin's Creed bundle Xbox One in order to play the Halo Collection many moons ago, I ended up hating the console, and it was annoying that Unity ran like shit.

Funny that all this time later, I'll play on Series X in 60 FPS. Wouldn't have expected that.

Thank you, Microsoft.
It was clear that Techland was never going to patch Dying Light to raise it above 2013 standards.
Now we just need that ML Upscaling tech to go live and the game will be perfect.

Dang! There's a lot of games on this list that I play quite a bit! I've also been meaning to get back to Wasteland 3 after I decided to wait and let them patch it a bit. Coop was a mess for me at launch.

This is very cool, but I have one very important question......are these all running the xbox one 1080p or less version updated to 120hz, or are some of the running the 4K xbox one X version and getting the frame increase to 60hz or 120hz depending on the game?

If it's check marked as "Off By Default" that usually implies Series X will drop the One X enhancement for the One S version to prioritize frame rate over resolution.

Games like New Super Luckys Tale and Shadow of the Tomb Raider are running boosted at 4K/One X enhanced editions. It all depends on the title.

Can you still do the 4k 60 fps hack ?
Where u quick resume the game and it runs in 4k resolution ?
Also what does off by default on series x means ?

Really was hoping for Dead Space to be on there.

Good list though. Ill check out Evil WIthin 2 and Two Point Hospital.

Eit: Shadow Warrior 2 never got an X update so this will help that game a lot.
I don't think X360 games can be enhanced...

Some games require a res drop to hit 60/120 and therefore by default the FPS boost in not enabled. You can simply enable it under the compatibility options when you hit the start button on the game title, and then move to manage game, or whatever.

dang nice, if I get this job I'm having a panel interview for on Thursday then I might look to upgrade my TV around Black Friday so that I finally have one that can take advantage of 120fps

I have said this before but as a PC gamer with my whole gaming history in front of me on Steam, and other launchers, it blows me away how some console fans on here seem to be so against past gen games.
Maybe its just console warring because Microsoft are really pushing the boat out with BC.
It's console warring those same folks would be amazed if Sony actually gave a crap about PS4 titles...

I personally don't dislike past gen games, for me it's the concept of opportunity cost (or rather how I perceive it to be, coming from a position completely outside the industry without any insight and I could be wrong but..):

Presumably companies like Microsoft/Sony have finite resources, so there's this perception that any resources diverted to stuff like BC are resources diverted away from making next-gen games.

In reality, it may be the case that the people working on these past-gen game enhancements never had anything to do with next-gen development endeavors (and were hired separately from the new game makers specifically for this stuff, or they are hardware dudes who have a bit of downtime now that the new consoles are released) and so there is no opportunity cost. I was against the idea at first but seeing stuff like Yakuza 6 at 60fps and Battlefield 4 at 120fps... I can't really see any downsides.

Not necessarily. I'm not in the gaming industry either, but making next-gen games are isolated to dev teams whose jobs are to make games. The resources towards OS enhancement (which this falls under) is with the team that is managing the OS, so no resources are being diverted from making games to enhancing the operating system.

Posted in the Xbox OT thread also but the Series S now has over 30 120fps games through frame rate boost alone. This doesn't count games like Halo: MCC, Rocket League, Gears 5 and Warzone which all have 120fps modes through S|X enhancements/patches.

The first FPS boosted games hit on March 15th. In a month and a half we have 100 games enhanced. If they keep this rate up, and the percentages stay the same, we could hypothetically have 260 120fps games and just shy of 900 60fps games through FPS boost by this time next year.

The toggle being on by default only for the (many) games where FPS boost does not result in a resolution drop is sign of great care and user experience focus from the BC team at Xbox. It is the little things that I appreciate most.

I like their transparent and informative approach in the website they offer to check the status of the BC games and of the ones that are FPS boosted. There is a list of FPS boost enabled games, they clearly show which ones do not have the FPS boost on by default, and they indicate which ones do not have it enabled for the Series S at all (these are indeed the pro-consumer touches). It is very welcome!

Their approach to OS design (thicker OS layer, especially the custom HW and SE extensions deployed to fully virtualise the Xbox One and later generations) has historically required more CPU and GPU overhead, but it is paying off really well with enhanced BC.
I hope the number of BC titles from the Box 360 and OG Xbox generation continues to increase though as Sony dropped the ball massively there in terms of BC for those two generations.

My top priority is Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 60fps, but should I really do that without having beat Rise of the Tomb Raider first? Damn, this is tempting.

But shadow of the tomb raider had a 60fps mode? Or is this the full 4K high graphics mode upped from 30fps to 60fps?

Deus Ex (been in my backlog forever)
Dying light (need to do the expansion)
Halo Wars 2 (need to do the expansion)
Recore (need to do the expansion)
hollow Knight (backlog)
Lego Jurassic Park (as me and my partner are playing it together atm, as its the game we played when we first met and we want to beat it for our 4th anniversary)
Shadow of the tomb raider (need to do the dlc still)
power rangers: battle for the grid
Steep (need to play the x games expansion)

List of ones I'll definitely get round too.

Halo Wars 2, Yakuza 6, ReCore, maybe Wasteland 3 and The Evil Within 2 for me..

Wish I had a 4k120hz TV to wrap up Hollow Knight at 120 fps!

edit: Oh and the Tomb Raiders perhaps..

Check the specs of your TV. If you bought a 4K TV within the past 4 years, it will probably support 120 fps at 1080P.
