League of Legends surpasses 15 million registered accounts. 1.4 million daily players

I first played HoN back in beta. It was pretty fun. Only in the last couple months have I started playing League of Legends and I can't go back.

Tried playing HoN again recently and all I can do is feed. I like that you have access to all heroes from the start in HoN, but for me it's pretty pointless when people walk all over you every single game. Also, I can't count the number of times where I mistook an enemy for an ally, and didn't realize it until they took 3/4ths of my health in less than a second.

Chalk it up to me just being bad but at least in LoL I can play without feeding.

I'm interested in how DoTA 2 will turn out. I just hope whatever visual aesthetic they go for has more contrast between the environment's and the characters than in HoN.

While I'm not gonna say it's a terrible game, I wish Riot could actually add something new to the game other than the stream of constant 6300 IP champions and skins. It's hard to believe there are no replays or spectator mode in a game this large.

I'd really like to play HoN, but I'm broke as hell right now and my CC isn't working anyway, so it seems I'm going to miss out on yet another discount on that game :/
It's good news though that they'll add LoL style outlines, that was one of the biggest problems I faced in my trial, I honestly couldn't tell who was with me or against me most of the time.

Exactly and they got bought out by Chinease company for 400M, you would exact for that money they would hire 1 or 2 people to work on these features, but nope, more 6300IP heroes. It's beyond a joke now.

LoL is not a terrible game (in fact its second best at the moment), but Riot are really bloody lazy tightarse bastards.

I agree, but the original discussion about that was geared more to level 1 ganks in the jungle.
Level 1 ganks in the jungle involve Team fights or hiding in a bush with 3-4 people and hoping some idiot will face check it. You'll want Ignite either way.

they have been hiring like madmen for a long, long time now, going as far as frequent job postings on their forums and referral benefits for anyone who leads a new employee to the company. it's actually kind of stunning how much staff they are still looking for: http://www.riotgames.com/careers/job-openings-0

the problem doesn't appear to me to be laziness or anything. it really comes down to the foundation the game is built upon. Riot launched League on a shoestring budget, with minimal investment funds and expectations far below what they have seen. they cobbled together what little they could afford (which includes the shitty Adobe Air platform used for the launcher and some dodgy scripting tools) with a barebones staff. their codebase has certainly paid for it, as from what i have read from them firsthand they have been forced to essentially recode the game from scratch on both the server and user sides while attempting to maintain uptime.

and believe me, at this point i want a new map more than just about anyone

It's funny playing LoL after HoN and seeing how much easier it is to farm, makes me sad how you see people with such terrible creep scores in games. I wish they would remove the Summoner spells already, you know something is up when nearly everyone takes Flash.

They've been talking about removing Flash and replacing it with something less get-out-of-jail-free.

A lot of the people they've hired were for customer support and not actual development.

Also there's a huge rumor that they're developing an MMO and that's where most of the staff is going.

Their tech is bad though, they don't even have a map editor.

That was back then. This is now. They've had more than enough time to make up for any faults, yet they're satisfied with barely mantaining the game and introducing new champions and skins.
