it's for the best to use spoiler tags until these things actually happen in the show

the trailer was a bit on the spoilery side

So do we keep using spoiler bars for discussing the trailer or not?

Its nice to see that Toph is back but it would have been maybe better if we actually found out during the episode rather the trailer would have been a nice surprise.

Na, it's ok.
We already knew she was coming back in some form, and the creators know it's expect. Nice detail not actually seeing her in the trailer though.

Its pretty cool how the airbenders are basically using wind suits now so they can technically fly around and don't have to deal with the whole letting go of their earthly tether to fly.

Edit: see spoiler tags so I assume we can't talk about it openly yet?

my quick thoughts on it
Definitely feel the theme will be "is someone like the avatar needed or even a threat in a more technological savy world"

Trailer got me hyped.
Time skip is the best thing that could happen. Time skips are always awesome. Airbender suits are hilariously dumb. TOPH!!!

Korra looks great with that hair. Makes her look much more mature. Also, not enough Asami in that trailer. Definitely not enough.

I wonder what happened to Ohmashu after the fall of Ba sing se? I can't imagine Bumi's kingdom falling into chaos after the Earth Queen's assassination.

So Kuvira is like 100% the bad guy right? I hope her character doesn't suck, it'll be difficult to follow up Zaheer

Seems to me it will just
be a military conflict trying to take over the kingdom after the Queen died. It's kind of a let down that it's the final conflict. But it also makes sense, if the world is shifting in a massive way politically. I guess I just hope they figure out a way to tie it in to the overall themes of the show, and the Avatar's role.

I'm still kind of baffled by Mako/Bolin and Korra being in a military. And having the same uniform as Kuvira.

So Makorra is totally happening

What scene in the trailer hinted at that?

Also surprised Zuko is still alive at that age haha

He's only like 76 isn't he? Aang died pretty young. In A:TLA you had characters like Bumi who was over 110, and that guru dude who must be at least 115 if he was a close friend of Gyatsu. And I think Kyoshi was meant to have lived to about 250 or something ridiculous like that.

Really hoping Zuko somehow ends up in the Spirit World and meets Iroh. Would be total fan service but IDGAF.

I'm so scared that (trailer spoilers)
Toph is going to end up being on the wrong side in this. It looks to be about the Earth Kingdom going all Fire Nation in Iron Man suits and I'm afraid that Toph will be on the side of the Earth Kingdom. It wouldn't make sense, though, so this is probably a basless fear.

That's true, I forgot about those large ages.

Michael Dante DiMartino's post about the trailer

Here is the Book 4 trailer Bryan and I personally oversaw. This being the final season, we wanted to create one last awesome trailer. But we couldn’t have done it without Jeremy Zuckerman’s score, Chris Hink’s editing, Matt Gadbois’ motion graphics, and Matt Cawood and Joe Alessandra's CG work.

More than likely. I think she should be a pretty difficult villain with what looks like an army behind.

If there's a
timeskip
you can bet your bottom dollar that they'll grow back together and talk about how much they missed each other.

Hmm. I kind of feel like they'll grow apart, just because Korra is going to be in a very depressed state, and kind of wanting to be on her own. I imagine this will be like her Jedi/Yoda training plot arc where she ventures off into the swamps to become one with the force...er her bending lol

I'm thinking
the metal clan basically been helping keep the order during the collapse of Ba sing Se with the help of the Air nation. The metal clan taking care of the military stuff. Putting down warlords, and bandits while the Air nation is doing the humanitarian and peace keeping duties.

Kuvira might get it in her hear that she should just be the new empress.

And yet..
there is a shot where Korra is WITH the army (she's in a defense stance, and her back is with the same army/ same soldiers). SO CONFUSED.

She's about to fight Kuvira and the troops are surrounding the both of them.

For those of you worried about no Fire Nation, we get a glimpse of Korra walking through volcanoes, most likely in the FIre Nation. Also, the Fire Lord's in the trailer, betting we get to see something from her country.

At least, that's my hope. I like the Earth Kingdom and its expansiveness, but it would be a real shame if LOK ends without us getting to see how the Fire Nation ended up 70+ years after the end of the Hundred Year War.
