Yeah, this is terrible. If Adventure Time can't even do it, what makes anyone think Nick would allow it. Further, Korra is a main protagonist. It's still rare to have a main protagonist be gay (for a major Kids show on a kids network). Even though Korra is more aimed at mature audiences, it really had no chance to have anything progressive like that in it (lol sad that it's even considered progressive).
By the way guys, I guess the creators did an interview with IGN Post Book 3 finale. Some interesting tidbits here:
* There will be a new villain in Book 4 and a new threat for Korra to face
* Bryan about the new threat: It all ties in. Youll see how it all ties in to Book 3.
* The airbenders will be a jedi-like peacekeeping force in Book 4.
Looks like the conflict will tie directly into Book 3.
Yeah, obviously. I guess I read too much into this (ie. that it would directly tie into a larger conflict). This just confirms that someone from Book 3 carries over to 4. I was more so talking about whether it directly connects to Red Lotus or not. I'm starting to think Red Lotus stuff will be pushed to the back, and the new conflict will be something separate.
They left the door open for more Red Lotus stuff at the end of Book 3 (with them having members spread throughout the world). But I'm kind of thinking this is just going to be another small conflict.

Er, yes, I meant Cartoon Network. I always mix up those two Networks. I knew it was Adventure time, just mixed up the network it was on. Pretty shameful that even a show like that can't do an episode on that sort of thing (when the show is already very creative and abstract).
EDIT: But yeah, Adult Swim is actually the one that is more out there. Cartoon Network is going to be more reserved. So your point is spot on.

So you guys think the main conflict will be directly tied to Red Lotus? That they are doubling down on that organization? Kind of an interesting way to end the series. I guess it would make sense, since they retroactively said the Red Lotus were around during Book 1 (why Korra was moved to the monastery as a child), and that Unalaq was working with them.
So now Red Lotus have technically been apart of all 3 seasons (well sort of). I kind of wonder what Zaheer meant to the Red Lotus then. I got this sense that, he was like THE leader. If Zaheer is locked up again, are they just going to continue to take up his goal of getting rid of Korra, and causing anarchy? Kind of wonder why they weren't doing that when he was in Jail to begin with (why they didn't attack or do more things while Zaheer and his group was in jail all those years).
plus the characters didn't seem as shitty (except for the Bolin downgrade imo) and the flow of the arc seemed better (even though it still felt rushed due to the amount of episodes)
Maybe there will be a family reunion arc, Toph, Suyin and Lin hug it out, apologize to each other. But yeah, I agree, horrible parent, with Aang being a super close second.

I doubt Zaheer was the leader. He seemed to be up there but not the one in charge. Someone linked a photo where it said that those who entered the spirit realm had a body guard to protect their body in case a spirit took over the body. My guess is the Red Lotus dude who splintered off from the White Lotus because his body was taken by a spirit (as the White Lotus used the spirit world for communication). Zaheer was a body guard. He had no bending so at best he was that. Korra will probably take Zaheer's bending away or he will be incapacitated to some degree.

So he was kind of like, a mid level leader? With like a cult following within the greater organization? Seems like, people were willing to drop what they were doing and report to him (like Ai Wei did). I mean, yeah he had no bending. That's a very good point. But Red Lotus seems to be a political organization, you don't really need bending to be a leader IMO.
EDIT: ah, so a splintered faction. Kind of interesting that Ai Wei just happened to be apart of that splintered faction. The odds are kind of unbelievable tbh, that a member that just happened to be with a splintered faction, was in the exact same town as Korra. Which is why I always assumed they weren't a splintered faction, and that Zaheer was still important to the overall organization.

You don't probably need bending but it's a sure fire way to gain power.
He was probably mid level. I doubt he was high up there more like an operative. I wouldn't doubt the President is the leader. He has to play some part or else he's really done nothing but bitch and moan. I wouldn't doubt the writers to say the Red Lotus used Zaheer's idealism to help bring down Ba Sing so they could put in a puppet leader.
Although I don´t want them wasting precious air time in shipping, I believe we are going to get a Makorra endgame. After all of those nudges in Book 3, it would be somewhat anticlimatic. Personally, I wouldn't care.
The Earth Kingdom is in disarray, I think it would be wiser to devote time to the political implications and a possible fight for control between factions inside the continent. Or even a direct Fire Nation involvement.
Considering the leaked frames with Kuvira, I hope we are getting something about that

I'm going to say no romance at all for Korra. But if there is romance, it will be Mako. You have a good point about the Earth Kingdom being chaos as their monarch has tumbled. Surely that will play a big part in Book 4 (at least, I would think?). I do wonder how the Fire Nation can be incorporated into this.
Well I've been marathoning book 2 tonight and I'm on episode six. It starts off really really really slow and terrible, but once you get to like episode 4 things start to pick up.
It gets better, but you just have to get through the beginning slop.
you should likely at least watch the second half of season 2 (starting around ep 7 or so) as the events at the end of season 2 are a strong focus at the start of season 3, and the two ep special in the middle of season 2 of korra shouldn't be missed by any avatar fan period.

I think an intervention or something like that may be in order, at least to back the United Republic in stopping the chaos produced by the Red Lotus into entering Republic City. I believe we don't have yet a timeframe of when Book 4 happens after Zaheer's incident, but uprisings and a division of the kingdom in the pretense of protection (A posible Metal Clan expansion comes to mind) wouldn't be too weird to see.
I haven't thought of a good scenario in my head. But I want to see the Fire Nation almost a century after the war, and of course the new Fire Lord, so my bias may be speaking here.
