I was kinda disappointed when Link didnt went to his mech and started flying into the sky...Even with that tv's shit desaturated colours, lack of contrast and fuzzy definition...
That's a damn tasty screen.

Number of starting hearts is probably dependent on difficulty of the game. Since there are no motion controls for sword, the difficulty won't come from sword combat.
You don't get heart containers from 2 bosses. But where would you acquire those 2 extra hearts if you start on say Hard? Would they just plop extra 1/4 hearts around the world?
Me too, man. It was my first Zelda, so it might be nostalgia... But that story is really emotional. ;~;
Loved Marin.
At least she lived on as Aryll, who in early concepts was gonna be Marin but they decided to make her actually look like she was Link's sister (I agree with the decision) and therefore changed the name. That's why Aryll loves watching seagulls.
I think he meant that, based on the overall difficulty of the game, they will decide how many hearts you will have at the beginning. But where would you acquire those 2 extra hearts if you start on say Hard? Would they just plop extra 1/4 hearts around the world?

I gave up on the map. Drove me insane. lol

Fuck.. I'm getting all hyped again.
I think I'll replay SS, then TP, then MM (3DS hell yeah), then OOT. Hopefully by then this game will be out.
I already played WW last year if you guys are wondering I left it out.
I don't mean difficulty selection. Not Normal = 5 hearts, hard = 3.
I mean how the game is balanced. If it's a difficult zelda game (combat-wise), then you start with 5. If it's a standard zelda game, then you start with 3, per usual.
Embrace the hype, it'll deliver. There's no way it can't when it looks this good.
I'm going to be the voice of negativity and say that gameplay premiere looked BAD.
The world is lifeless, the graphics, especially the geometry and complexity of the environment feel way too basic, the trees were copy paste work.
Really felt like a Skyrim Zelda skin/mod, I expected something way more lively and colourful, didn't like it at all. That said I still trust Aonuma.
Gotcha, I would agree with that. I would still like Hero Mode from the start though.
Hmm...I'll spoiler tag this I guess. If I had to rank the feels of the Zelda series it would go like this:
1. Majora's Mask -2. Ocarina of Time -It simply has a lot of feels3. Link's Awakening -Distopian future. You lose all your friends and Zelda says goodbye to you4. The Wind Waker -You lose Marin and the rest of the islandHyrule is dead. Pobre Ganondorf and King Daphnas
Far below that
5. Skyward Sword -6. Twilight Princess -Zelda fell asleep for a few ingame hours. Fi left.Queen Rutela died. Midna left.
It just needs more feels.
Should have used Derek then.Because "they" is him. André "is" Gamexplain. Only in the last year or so has Derek joined when they got bigger and bigger to cover some of the games and take part in discussions.
So have you and all the other people analyzing the map, taken into account the lake that's at the bottom of Death Mountain in the E3 pic? If we could find where that is, than it might help determine where the castle is, which could help establish other points on the map. just a suggestion, I just remembered that that was something that caught my interest during E3 and it could help.
I think I found where the E3 footage takes place:
It's the right distance from Death Mountain, it has geography blocking views of Lake Hylia to the west and the eastern split mountain. It can see Death Mountain, Hyrule Castle, and the western split mountain and looks right across Hyrule Field. There is a bridge across the river where Hyrule Castle is, reminiscent of the drawbridge in OoT.
The lake in front of Death Mountain could be the river in front of it or Zora's Domain's entrance.
Who wouldn't? Wind waker HD did it... but that's because they knew a good portion of the player base had already played it.
Another option is to see how well you perform in the tutorial area and automatically set the difficulty based on performance. (with a menu-toggle if you disagree).
I think that Link is standing near the beginning of that big chunk of land that is in the middle

This would be my rank as best to worst 3d Zelda too.
He is... He's at the southeast corner of Hyrule Field just east of Lake Hylia. The camera is facing northwest.
I was working on pointing that out myself. I've had this PSD open for hours now, trying to label everything lol
Still gonna post it but I'm glad we already established this now. ;D

And at the height of its popularity, what was the Zelda series exactly, but a mass market RPG dungeon crawler? Now it is a niche puzzle adventure game with fantasy elements.
So perhaps you place the torches yourself and it allows you to fast travel or respawn at them.
That's gotta be where it is. We see the same mountain from opposite sides, indicating we are west of it. In the last scene of that area they look ahead and see Death Mountain in the distance and then turn right and they see the eastern split mountain in the distance across a shallow pond.
Actually it'd have to be further away since Death Mountain looks about as small as it is when viewed from south of Lake Hylia. Also, the geography in that region is full of mountains and valleys and all Link sees in the E3 shot is rolling plains straight ahead. Assuming he was high enough to see over those mountains, which the topography of the map doesn't suggest, he would still see those mountains and valleys.
I'm thinking the E3 shot is ALSO the big central plains. The mountain that's split in half isn't the same one we were looking at before, and if you look at the map there's another one that fits the bill on the west side of the plains.
Link is somewhere near that green dot, imo. It puts him far enough away from Death Mountain and gives him a clear view of it and the western split mountain. Plus it has mountains to the east that would block his view of the eastern split mountain which is why we don't see it and from the footage we can see that Lake Hylia is bordered on the eastern side by high hills that block view of that from this location on the map. It's north of a wooded area that we know from this demo to have ruins and rocks with symbols on them like in the E3 footage. It also has a river where the bridge scene could take place in that same area.
The black circle is Hyrule castle, which is between the western split mountain and Death Mountain. There is a bridge over the river indicated on the map in that area and I believe that this bridge is the castle town drawbridge ala OoT. In fact, I agree with Enduin that everything lines up with OoT. That place I thought was a swamp is Zora's River leading up to Zora's Domain.
I think you're spot on about where Link is, but I'm not so sure about the three circles. For instance the blue one with the giant chasm looks like it'd be a little further back, though I could be wrong. Likewise, the castle looks like it should be further back, or at least not so close to a body of water, but again it's hard to tell with the perspective. Finally, Death Mountain, I think is in the right place but I don't think the circle is, I mean we know DM is a volcano, so then from above it'd show lava, the circled part doesn't, but that might just be due to how the map is zoomed out. Furthermore, there is what appears to be a small blue spot at the bottom of DM on the map, so if that's that lake than it'd put Hyrule Castle a little further back and a little further to the right of the map.I think I found where the E3 footage takes place:

South of this area we know there is a forested area full of ruins and rocks with glyphs on them since Aonuma rode near this area in the new footage, and on the map there is a river in this area where the bridge scene could take place.
The lake in front of Death Mountain could be the river in front of it or Zora's Domain's entrance.
snip!
Even with that tv's shit desaturated colours, lack of contrast and fuzzy definition...

It's unlikely because from that area you couldn't see Hyrule Field or Death Mountain.Sorry if this has been asked or mentioned, but are these the same with the sunlight just making it look bloomed/orange in picture 1?
I'm going to agree with this now, I had a few more watches and there's definitely no sign of the 'super tall tree' anywhere in the South-East area. Also for the last scene, I kept thinking it was sunset but it makes way more sense that it's sunrise. You can also recognise the mountains as the camera swings around to the East.
This I'm going to definitely disagree.
1. The angle at which we see Split Mountain shows that we have to be almost in line with the split opening (you can see right through it to the mountains behind).
2. The topography of the mountain you have marked shows a very high peak on one side of the river and much lower hilly range on the other side. This looks nothing like Split Mountain. Just compare.
3. We see a mountain ridge that crosses in the foreground in front of Split mountain. As there are only flat plains between Link and the mountain you marked in black, this is impossible.
4. Remember, Link is at a very high vantage point, almost as high as the mountains around him. So I re-assert that Link is almost at the South East tip of the continent.
Just look at the mountain I've marked in red - Spiral Mountain. It even has the spiral on the topographical map!
When I multiply the number of trees by 20, I get that the map shows an area of 28160 x 23040 feet. This is equal to an area of 5.42 x 4.36 miles (8.7 x 7.1 Km). That's equivalent to 23.6 square miles or 61.8 square kilometers.
These figures are probably off by a few hundred (or thousand) feet, but they give a good estimate of how truly huge the new Hyrule will be.
Eh hope they manage to fill in the landscape more, looks really barren and the visuals certainly aren't helping. Looks gorgeous in grasslands but the trees and rock textures aren't so hot, though that's no surprise given the hardware. I feel conflicted about this tbh, I love Zelda games but I'd really prefer a smaller world with more focus on individual areas. I want a hand crafted feel, not a terrain generator 2015 one. If I want that I'll go play Arma.
I updated the map with more reference points marked. I think all the angles check out.
Sorry if this has been asked or mentioned, but are these the same with the sunlight just making it look bloomed/orange in picture 1?
This is the first game since Twilight Princess that we'll get to ride a horse in a big field.
This alone is enough to get me excited.
I updated the map with more reference points marked. I think all the angles check out.
Gamexplain pointed out that enemies have rpg like health bars. I predict the Zelda 2 leveling system will return. The easy access to the bow indicates this game will have a lot of long range combat based moments. You also see 90 arrows in the slot. Thats way more stock than normal. I'm very confident that the gameplay and world will be fine. My only hope at this point is that the game is epic as all hell. I want those multiple Ganon transformations which take a good amount of skill to tackle.
This is exactly what drove me insane. This one mountain that threw everything off for me because it looks so distinct. I was trying to place it and compare it against all the TGA scenes but the "horses don't run into trees" area completely threw me off there.
Anyway, I made some additions to the latest one from you guys.
I'm not sure about that small bay-thing but it's the only body of water close to where the E3 trailer happened. But I still think it might be too large for that. It was set in a dense forest area but I'm not sure if that would fit in right next to the ocean there.
edit: comparing against the max zoom pic, the bay just looks too big, it's the size of the forest area that Link glides over with the sailcloth. ignore this lol
I feel the castle would be more somewhere in that flat area:
