If theories are correct, and we're in the new kokiri forest region, it really could be a repurposed deku tree. They match up, geographically speaking.

I really don't think that upper part is Gerudo Desert, as not only does it look like a desert, in the E3 shot, but in every game outside of OOT, it's always to the lower left (southwest) side of Hyrule Castle. Plus, I really want to imagine that white area, that is persumably really high up, as Snowpeak, and TP made a point to state that that is above the desert, to the left/upper left of Hyrule Castle. So, personally, I think Gerudo Desert is the "?" area on that image, while the area above it, going off how Zelda maps usually work, is just a bunch of mountains, and hopefully Snowpeak.

Here's TPs map to compare.

Of course, Death Mountains placement in TP is a little iffy, So who knows? I just really want Snowpeak! D:

It's hard to tell, it could be either, but TP map might be more likely. Would be nice to have both a snowy mountain and a lava mountain. That said, the forest region still matches up

I want them to hide a ridiculously huge dungeon in some farflung corner of the world that most players will never find. Make it accessible via a hole that appears by chopping a certain patch of grass. Then you drop down inside and there's this huge motherfucking dungeon, introduced with bold white text that reads:

HUGE MOTHERFUCKING DUNGEON

And twelve hours later, you emerge from the dungeon, victorious.

Now that would make for a sense of discovery!

You guys notice how the river goes under a mountain or under the ground near where the X is?

Hopefully they'll let us explore a huge underground cavern with a river going through it.
God I hope I am not let down on this!

You know what'd be really awesome? A Dungeon at the bottom of that sea! God, I really love imagining just how many different cool places you can place a dungeon in in this game. Oh and with all the wildlife, I hope they bring back the cats from TP, I loved that. :D

I think it matches up in terms of there being forests, but I don't think that whole area is forested, or going to connect to Kokiri forest.

Here's a thought. What if link is being stalked by enemies and him wearing the hood makes him harder ti find by the big enemies roaming the world. In the e3 trailer he was already seen so he only through it off when he was ready to fight. Also he wouldn't be able to attack or use his bow with the cloak on. Doubt that's it but could be a cool mechanic.
Speaking of stalking enemies I sorta want an enemy that follows the player around and can only be seen off in the distance.
Probably alone on that.

Starting to wonder just how big the ocean is....shudder

How would that work?
So say you're exploring the Huge Motherfucking Dungeon Temple, which as I previously said is concealed beneath a single inconspicuous patch of grass in the overworld.

While exploring that dungeon, you may come upon a couple of pots. You smash them open for hearts and rupees, only to reveal another hole...

...and down that hole, the game announces you've reached the Another Huge Motherfucking Dungeon Temple.

How would that work?

Okay, this is purely for the sake of example, but maybe there could be a fire dungeon and an ice dungeon that work as a dual dungeon to make a mega dungeon. There could be a fire/ice mechanic that connects the two and using a switch, you could bring effects from one dungeon over to another somehow in order to clear each one. Clearing each dungeon activates a switch and when both switches are activated, the boss door opens.

Or maybe that's ridiculous.

Holy shit. That kind of moment would be incredible. Have some dungeons secretly lead into other dungeons. That might work especially well if it involved using an item required in the other dungeon to get there.

That kind of solves some problems of not having certain items for a dungeon. Even if you find yourself stuck there's a chance you'll find a new entrance to a dungeon you actually can fully complete.

Legend of Zelda: huge mother fucking dungeons!

I would absolutely love that. I always liked being put on edge by subtle, creepy stuff like this. Something like this at night or in a deep, eerie forest would help make the world more memorable, IMO.

Yep. They skipped night time for a reason.

Night time in Zelda is no joke! Well, sometimes.

It looks pretty big, not looking forward to wildlife in the ocean however. o_o

I'd like something like this, like Dark Link or something. I dunno, but if it were handled like The Beast from Over The Garden Wall, well that'd be both really awesome and really creepy. Also since it's kinda like WW, I'd like something similar to the cyclone and the Ghost ship, maybe like tornadoes, or a ghost carriage or something.
I hope there's a snow area. It'll look amazing. Since SS skipped on snow I've been longing for it.
That's what I've been saying! I love snow areas, and it'd look beautiful in this art style.

I'm down for anything that adds an extra sense of mystery to the world. That would be cool. Just some thing that every once in a while you can catch a glimpse of, but you never actually get a good view of it and can never actually catch it.

Or at night, it will appear at any random spot on the map (which means you're very unlikely to actually find it), and only after finding it 3 times can you interact with it.

Anything like that. Just add some mystery.

I'm totally with you on that. You hunt it down, or become the hunted.

The way I imagine it there would be a long list of actions that would trigger an attack, but only a few triggers would work at any given time. Killing, (or being killed) would shuffle the triggers.

Its respawn time could change from an hour or the next time you boot up the game and everything in-between.

Seriously, something like this has to be in this game. It's one of those distinct things I could see people looking back on about this game for years. Like along the lines of Happy Mask man or Tingle (love him, or hate him, or love to hate him).

That sounds really interesting. I'm digging it.

I've wanted something like this for years. A random, full-size or larger optional dungeon in a random location that is hinted at but only vaguely. Since it would be disconnected from the narrative, give it its own story that you uncover in bits and pieces as you work through it, something like Metroid Prime's log entries.

And then put a goddamn superboss at the bottom of it.

I can't believe I'll need to wait almost a year to play this beautiful game.

I want to explore the world now. I hope there's a lot of secrets and interesting discoveries. I want a sense of wonder while exploring the world.

I have to stop lurking and join the post crew. IM HYPED.

So, I've never really understood one thing about the Zelda Timeline. Why is there a separate timeline for Link failing to stop Ganon?
Because the complete timeline is just a retcon job the team threw together because fans demanded it. Addding the hero fails branch was the easiest way to get all the games to fit.

How would that work?

Also, please Nintendo I don't want to wait for E3 2015 to get a new trailer. :(
Oh you will.

I personally wouldn't mind something like the Keller family recordings from Fallout 3. something completely not related to the story or anything, just a mysterious and chilling scavenger hunt.

Totally not alone. Since the time of day changes I really, really hope that the in-game night is dark. To the point where I need a torch to see 10 feet in front of me and hopefully we get night-specific enemies with scary glowing eyes and even stalking enemies to scare you.

I want to re-live that scared feeling I had when I first saw a Stalchild in OoT.

That sounds awful. I want to explore this beautiful world at my own pace without being hurried by an enemy. One of the worst parts of Majora's Mask was never being able to relax and take in the world.

I don't know if this has been pointed out yet but I found it interesting and kept catching my eye. Around 1:17 in the video Aonuma starts to move the camera to the right but very quickly pulls it back almost trying not to show off this structure in the distance. Its odd shaped and doesn't look all that natural, it looks like a dome like at Epcot in Disney. Also looks like there might be some type of cave entrance to it.

Was wondering when someone would post this. Looked like a dam to me.

As long as it wasn't overbearing. I like the Pikmin idea of night being completely unlivable. I think that'd be awesome having to mad dash to a safe spot before nightfall. xP

I am SUPER pumped for this game! The last Zelda game I played was OoT, so I hope there isn't a lot of references that go over my head (may have to wiki read otherwise).

Tell me about it... I've spent literally hours in the past two days connecting landmarks to the map because it was so freaking fun. It's awakening my inner cartographer.

I can't imagine doing it for real in-game, seeing a suspicious spot on the map and going to check out what it actually looks like!

Guys I just pulled the plug and ordered Tickets for the Symphony of the Goddesses in Milan.
I am so psyched to finally being able to go.
Zelda Music to me has a deep emotional meaning, as it pretty much was the soundtrack of my childhood and adolescence. Even in my adult life every single Zelda instalment gave me chills from it's music.
For all the discussion in this thread about world size and density, I know one thing for sure: The music in this game will mesmerise me once again.

Enjoy! I've been to the Zelda symphony twice now, and it's a really awesome experience.

I'm going there too! This will be even better than Nine Inch Nails live :P

If there's one thing I want it's a creepy dark forest with huge-ass trees. I know the Lost Woods is a Zelda staple but we've never had one in a proper open world fashion, should be fun. You know, something like the forest in those Twilight Princess trailers.

I gotta say the trees we've seen so far are kind of underwhelming but hey, we really haven't seen a lot to be fair. :p

Anyone else think that the bottom left corner of the map is the lost woods? It seems like there is a forest behind the snow(??) mountain.
