LEGO Dimensions |OT| Not Lost Dimensions

Nah, I think I reattached him to a little sticky out bit. His appearance was a nice surprise though, my son made the portal so I didn't even notice him.

I did wonder when making it the first time, there was a few odd pieces that I wasn't sure why they bothered, and oh, yup that's why, it was waiting for that.

I have now grabbed some spare 1x1 pieces (mainly round ones) and the hook to build him a little thing to be attached to, so that dilemma is solved.

Not a sales thread I know, but I wanted to let people know that best buy has 25% off all level, fun, and team packs today, and it stacks with GCU.

I may have just bought a bunch of shit I don't need.

Whilst I was out shopping tonight here in the UK, I thought I'd try get the Portal level pack in preparation for me getting the game on Friday. I tried Game, Argos, Asda and Grainger Games. Not one had it in stock :( I'm worried that it's going to be difficult to get hold of.

Ok, finally took the plunge now... we got the PS4 starter pack and now trying to hunt down Portal 2 level pack and Dr Who...

Tell me again guys, which HUB worlds are actually worth unlocking besides those 2?

Levels or hubs? As a fan of Back to the Future, I really love that hub because it includes all the music + a ton of references (as all the hubs do). Also you can travel to different time periods, which totally change up the world. The level that comes with it is a bit short though.

Yeah hubs... the way i understand it is that, currently, there are only 4 levels right? There are more hubs though like the Wicked Witch unlocks that hub world but she has no level correct?

Correct, you just need one character from a franchise to unlock their hub. The hubs are:

DC Comics (included with Starter Pack)
Lord of the Rings (included with Starter Pack)
The LEGO Movie (included with Starter Pack)
The Wizard of Oz
The Simpsons
LEGO Ninjago
LEGO Legends of Chima
Jurassic World
Back to the Future
Scooby Doo
Doctor Who
Portal 2
Ghostbusters (not available yet)
Midway Arcade (not available yet)

Levels are:

Portal 2
The Simpsons
Back to the Future
Doctor Who
Ghostbusters (not available yet)
Midway Arcade (not available yet)

Thanks for the comprehensive list, that will come in handy! Which hubs are your favorite though? I feel like if i want to unlock them all it'll be too much (money and time invested)

Today only, Toys R Us has Fun Packs (character + something), 2 for $18.

And that's what i'll be doing after work then.

Is there some kind of chart that shows what character unlocks what / has which moves? I don't want to buy every piece of everything for the game, if there's some way of buying the minimum amount of stuff needed to unlock all the areas that would be pretty rad.

(Like example someone saying the Raptor was the only way to break the metal bricks, so you'd think you'd need the Jurassic World pack but then it turns out that the Wicked Witch can do that. But then you need the JW pack to unlock the JW area and the WW to unlock OZ so... sigh)

Try this : https://www.reddit.com/r/Legodimensions/comments/3ogapg/lego_dimensions_set_abilities_guide/

I had an excel sheet that worked that way, can't remember if it's this one or not though as it's on a computer I don't have access to this week.

IGN is good also.

Oh yeah, speaking of sales, the level packs all appear to be $19.99 right now on Amazon. They're out of stock, but you can at least order them and lock in that price. I just got Portal 2 for a friend and the Simpsons for myself, both were $19.99, I'll check right now to see if they all are.

$20 for the level packs seems like a pretty good price to me!

Edit: I can't figure out how to create a link since they're out of stock but if you do the "more buying options" thing, Portal 2, Simpsons, and Doctor Who(!!!) are all on sale for $19.99 from Amazon with an expected refill date of around Dec 27th.

Also thank you both for the abilities guides!

My favorites are Back to the Future (the music and ability to visit all the times from the movies), LEGO Movie (it has all the different worlds from the movie and the movie version of Batman), and The Wizard of Oz (
You can use a twister to travel between a colorful Oz and a sepia-colored Kansas
). They're all great though.

I am absolutely stunned by the level of detail that went into the Doctor Who pack alone. Every Doctor has specific weapons, quotes, and bodily mannerisms, his own theme music that plays when he gets in the TARDIS, and his own perfectly accurate TARDIS control room. Even the Eighth and War Doctors! They went all out to a really impressive degree.

Yup. I caved. Bought in during the insane sales. Just finished the Dr Who Level pack level and I have to say you get your money's worth from that pack no doubt. How well they've handled Dr Who really makes me want a full Lego Dr Who game.

Yup been that way for about 4 days now. That's one reason I finally bought in. Got a base for 60 then got some level packs for 20 each. Luckily when I ordered they were still all in stock except a couple and I picked those up while on sale from Wal Mart. lol

So got up to the portal level in game and just played the level pack also and man both of those levels are awesome. The level pack one really played like a miniature sequel to portal 2. I really loved it.

I think I might get one of the Lego movie fun packs just so I can access that adventure world.

Who is more useful out of Benny and Emmett?

You should already have access with WildStyle

Though if you had to pick one up, Emmets the only person with access to a drill until Bane comes out.

You guys over in America are so lucky to have these sales going on. The prices haven't budged whatsoever here in the UK.

Honestly if it wasn't for the sales there's no chance I'd be jumping in. I'd still buy certain Fun/Level Packs for characters like Stay Puft and Chel etc but there's just way too much shit to buy to fully unlock all the play areas. I have no interest in owning the Ninjago or Chima Dimensions sets but I need them to unlock their hubs so thank god for the sales.

I thought I saw somewhere that you need the Ninjago Team Pack to unlock that hub - is that true? Or can I just get one of the Fun Pack figures?

Having not beaten Portal 2 yet, is there any reason I should hold off on playing the Portal 2 Level Pack? I want to avoid spoilers, obviously, but even just references and callbacks that I wouldn't get unless I'd played/beaten Portal 2 are important to me.

That goes for any of the Portal 2 related stuff I guess, Level Pack, Hub, if there's a Portal 2 section of the base game, etc.

I have absolutely zero idea what Ninjago or Chimera is so I think it's safe to say I won't be buying any of their fun/team or level packs.

There is a Portal 2 level in the main story. Based on what you've said, I'd recommend playing Portal 2 first if at all possible.

Yeah, it's too bad it's so short.

I dunno. I think with the mechanics of this game it was about the right length.

Yea and I'd avoid campaign too till you do. There is another character from Portal 2's campaign that makes an appearance in both the main level and the level pack level..

Speaking of Portal dear god the end credits song. Oh shit. I love it.

I'd like to know this as well about the Ninjago hub world. Anyone here has it unlocked with a fun pack only?

Also: So i am assuming all of you here are playing this strictly in single player then... i hope the co-op won't be too bad then (like frame rate issues or nagging split screen problems etc.)

To unlock any hub world you just need a character from that franchise.

I'll be picking up my starter pack tomorrow with the money I got today.

I don't think it has come down in price in any of the boxing day sales. SCREW YOU RETAILERS.

That's what i thought, just unsure because someone mentioned that specifically for the Ninjago world it wouldn't work that way...

I don't see why they would program just one world to not work that way. I'll be getting a figure in from each Ninjago and the other lego based world and will test. be a couple days though.
