LEGO Dimensions |OT| Not Lost Dimensions

Yup. So now whoever you have seen say that bullshit can now get smacked in the face for being a dirty liar.

Well, considering it was someone who thought who heard it from someone else, it's gonna be though :P

Anyways, I saw Benny on minor sale, but there's no use to get him unless you really dig him right? I mean, others can do the hacking, flying and the rest of his abilities just as well correct? (plus the hub is already unlocked with Wildstyle)

Oh hells yeah, managed to get the last Portal Level pack in Grainger Games today after scouring four different shops for it.

After months of posting in this thread, I can finally start playing the game!

It is yes, but you know, finding something in a shop still has a weird magical feeling.

No I don't know what I'm talking about either, I'm drunk.

Is there like s beginners guide? You get a Lego from
That world you open up that 'hub'. But if you get a level pack you get that 'level'. What's the diff?

Any Fun Pack, Team Pack and Level Pack opens up it's relevant hub world which has Gold bricks to get. But with a level pack you get a very short story mission too.

Are they ever planning more content for this game beyond the last announced packs in March? Or will that be Lego Dimensions 2 territory?

That might explain it, I went ahead and pressed play without downloading all the updates first. *sigh*

Ah well, guess I'll start it tomorrow cos that 6gig update will take me ages.

That "beginner's guide" post, made me think of something.

They need to either simplify things a bit in the next game, or just balance things in general.

Over the last days, I've had to explain how things work on this game, to a few people through phone calls, Whatsapp, Skype (with live videos too), so they could explain it then to their kids. I don't mind in any case, but most of the problems and doubts were around:

-You need to update the game to get it fully working and use some of the playsets (even ones that were released on day one). So parents that gave this as a gift were in most cases stuck at parts, just weren't able to proceed or just didn't had access to a level pack because of not updating.

-The thing between having the portal in one area, then needing to unlock another area to visit the different hubs. The hub with the different worlds needs to be the main area. Even just the exact same, along the main portal in the center.

-More connection between the story, level and worlds. You buy the Jurassic World Level Pack and to play that level/story you have to do it one way, but to visit the world you need to go to other area.

-Less minigames requiring to move figures around the base. Mid battle, having to leave the game to move the figures from one side to another while cool for some at first, becomes problematic as you proceed as they start throwing specific cases like move X figure only, or change the colors, or match the colors, paint the characters then match the colors in the portal...then throw some of that during a boss.

In general, is things that are no biggies, but combined with some of the choices in this one (Dr. Who, The Wizard of Oz, Portal, Ghost Busters, Back to the Future), is like some of the choices and decisions were made for a more adult crowd, to have them play with the kids instead.

Even less coming from Skylanders were you just place a figure and play a game or Infinity (and Skylanders extra levels) on which you just place a level-figure and play.

Which again, is no biggie. But with many kids coming from the Lego games which are basic and direct to the point, is like things were either complicated to please a more adult crowd or just not well thought.

From what they've said, there's not going to be a Lego Dimensions 2, 3, etc. We don't know exactly how it's going to shake out but it seems that they're gonna do DLC or something to just constantly expand the content of the base pack.

You can use the main portal in the center to warp yourself to in front of the desired hub portal. Not 100% seamless but it makes figuring out where to go pretty easy.

(Getting back is another story...)

The Jurassic World "level pack" is a completely separate game, of course you're going to access it differently. ;)

I can see why they didn't merge it all. If they did that, that would mean Lego Dimensions has the tiniest hub of any Lego game. This way it's more obvious what people can go do, assuming they're able to find the elevator.

It can be inconvenient, but I wouldn't expect it to change.

I don't think you're being fair regarding Doctor Who. Yes, in the US it's got a mostly adult audience. But in the UK - where Travelers Tales is based - it's very much a family show that everybody knows. It's no more "for the adults" than Star Wars would have been.

I'll grant you the rest, though. ;)

Even less coming from Skylanders were you just place a figure and play a game or Infinity (and Skylanders extra levels) on which you just place a level-figure and play.
Well, if Infinity deigns to let you play with that character at all. (After playing Lego Dimensions Disney's "no crossovers" rule is just painful.)

So i finally to got to starting the game... managed to build the portal and the Mini Batmobile (which is pretty cool). Is the driving ALWAYS like this though or can you change it?

By that i mean that it drives like an RC and just with the stick, no button to accelerate. I am pretty sure it used to be different in the other Lego games and if that's the case i really need to get used to this hmm...

Also: Will there be red bricks later on in the game or ways to get bonuses like 2 X studs etc. to speed up the stud collecting process like in regular Lego games or not?

I completed the first two levels last night, upgraded my batmobile a bit. I enjoyed those two very much, it's making me chuckle a lot.

There's no chance in hell I can be bothered to find all 400 golden bricks or whatever, screw that idea.

I think I might try one of the hub worlds tonight, what better way to celebrate new years Eve ey?

The only thing annoying me is when I switch out a character for somebody I want to use, for example taking Wildstyle out to use Wicked Witch, and then instantly coming across a puzzle only Wildstyle can solve and I'm like FFS. Makes me just think I may as well keep the original 3 on the portal throughout the whole game.

Eh is that 400 gold bricks for the WHOLE GAME all hub worlds etc. included?

If so, then that is not so bad, i mean Lego City Undercover alone had more than that and i 100%ed that ;)

Does the Doctor Who pack have weeping angels in it?

The ones in the main game scared the boy and I'd like to know if the level pack would be suitable

Thanks in advance!

I kept the core 3 on all game. It just seemed to make sense to me.

They said the base game was it and they would be expanding on it. Of course companies say stuff like that all the time and go back on it so I expect they may change that up or introduce a revamped starter pack. I'm actually kinda hoping they release a Lego Dimensions 2 digitally and it goes on sale cheap so I can just have it on the HDD instead of constantly having the disc in. I'm fully expecting them to do something big with Dimensions and their new Nexo Knights line. Seems like a no-brainer.

Oh boy I played the Ghostbusters level in the main game yesterday and wow that was so awesome. The music was so glorious on that level and it was so much fun.
a hidden summonable ghost Titanic AND you can go inside it, i was so giddy like a little kid. and I could have swore when you went back in time inside the music changed to the theme from Titanic
I can't wait for the Ghostbusters level pack in 20 days.

Just completed the (campaign) Dr Who level, so good, those weeping angels! Amazing.

I've upgraded my batmobile ten times so I unlocked the second vehicle upgrade, then obviously the instructions came up on how to rebuild it, from scratch! Screw that, I can't be bothered to take it all apart just to reshape them into a different form. I'm going to keep using the original build I reckon, but obviously I'll keep upgrading in the game.

Unless, you only have to change a few things? Which would make sense. Still, I'm lazy and more than happy to keep them in their first form.

No, they're all completely different. But the vehicles are also only 40-50 pieces - not a big set by any means!

(That said, I'll probably stick with the first form for most of mine, too. They're generally the most "iconic". There's something plain weird about K9's other forms!)

I got the game (and the Doctor Who and Simpsons levels packs) and so far I am loving it. I really want to get Jay and Emmet this week though, Jay because he's my favourite ninja and because I want to access the Ninjago world, and Emmet because of his mech and Chris Pratt voices him.

It does but they stand still and don't do anything. They only appear for a small section of level.

Too bad there's no fun packs for JW. So the ONLY way to access that world is the team pack right? Is there a little campaign level for this as well like there is for Oz etc.?

I think there's a campaign level for all the franchises.

Similarily to you, I wish there was a Scooby fun pack as I would like to access that hub world without having to splash out on a team pack.

I discovered last night that when you buy a level pack, you can't build/access the two vehicles that come with it until you play that particular level pack. I think that's pretty restrictive to be honest. I fancied building my Portal cube last night, but it asked me to play the level pack first. I'd rather play the campaign one before that.

Ah well, I'm sure I'll cope.

There are no levels for Jurassic World, Chima, or The Lego Movie.

You can build them from Youtube videos or the Lego website. You just can't use them.

So my niece lost her wyldstyle figure can she finish the game?

You could head over to BrickLink (a very reliable LEGO buying/selling community) and pick up a replacement.

Some guy in Germany has a bunch of 'em for sale for about $.30 each (although you gotta spend $10 at his shop when you make an order). Oh, hey! He also have Wyldstyle minifigures for sale, too.

Got this for Christmas, started today. I'm enjoying it so far, I've liked most of the TT Lego games, but I think what will kill this for me is having practically all abilities (smash silver stuff, etc) held behind figure sets. This waves that stuff in your face waaay more aggressively than something like Disney Infinity.

Are there any sets/packs/whatever that give you the most abilities? I'll probably be a sucker and buy at least one thing,

There's some that have quite a few abilities like Cyborg (although he won't get you a new hub) but Annoyingly some that are just one character like Emmett's Drill or the pads for unikitty or the ball switches that require the Jurassic world vehicle

while the game lets you hire a hero with studs you can't 100% the levels and available hubs doing just that since you can't hire vehicles and for example I think there's a unikitty pad in the first room of the simpsons main campaign level where it's impossible to earn enough studs to hire her before moving on.

Ok so to get this absolutely right (as it's pretty confusing for me lol) the Jurassic World team pack gives you not only access to the JW Hub World but it also comes with one UNIQUE ability right?

In that case i might have to grab it after all hmmm...

Yes, there are switches you can only use the Jurassic World Gyrosphere on (and as far as I'm aware none of the announced stuff will have that ability either)

You also get a raptor that can dig and the non Chris Prattle character can do electric switches I think (these abilities are not unique to this pack though)

Haha...
Remids me that me and my friends, don't remember the name of Chris Pratt's character in Jurassic World.

Even yesterday, I was explaining to one, how to access the JW hub in the game and every time I was like putt the Lego figure... which figure?...Ehr?...Chris Pratt!... Oh!

ha, I was using this as a point to a friend as one of the reasons Jurassic world isn't anywhere near as good as the original (although I do like it) by asking him to name a character NOT actor in JW. Despite seeing it twice he couldn't name one!

I know it's been talked about earlier in this thread, but does the Wii U version lock up a lot for anyone else? I had it lock up twice on me in one sitting. I just want to make sure it's the game and not my Wii U.

Do the other versions lock up this much? Maybe I'll see if I can grab the PS4 version. I'd rather play on Wii U though...
