Lego-GAF,

So for Christmas the wife and I gifted her a 1,000 piece starter set.

The LEGO Movie:

70814 Emmet's Construction Mech; 707pcs; $70
70815 Police Dropship; 853 pcs; $100
70816 Benny's Spaceship; 939 pcs; $125

That dropship must be bigger than the pics we've seen let on because I thought it looked more like a $70 set to me. I still want it but will be waiting for those good Amazon discounts on many of these.

Friends:

41030 Olivia Ice Cream Cycle; 98; $13
41031 Andrea's Mountain Hut; 119pcs; $13
41032 First Aid Jungle Bike; 156pcs; $17
41033 Jungle Waterfall Rescue; 183pcs; $20
41034 Summer Caravan; 297pcs; $30
41036 Save the Jungle Bridge; 365pcs; $35
41038 Rescue Base in the Jungle; 473pcs; $70
41047 Seal on a Rock; 37pcs; $4
41048 Lion in the Savannah; 43 pcs; $4
41049 Panda in the Bamboo; 47 pcs; $4
41058 Heartlake Shopping Center; xxx pcs; $125

Rescue Base is 473pcs and $70? Man that is nuts. Probably a lot of huge pieces. Curious about the shopping center though.

70815 Police Dropship; 853 pcs; $100
70816 Benny's Spaceship; 939 pcs; $125

Drop ship is 853 pieces? It didn't look that big in the pics. And $100 for that? Eh.
And Benny's Spaceship is 939 pieces (around what I expected), but for $125? They must know that nuts like us will buy it without hesitation because it is classic space themed, because the Fire Truck Mech was about the same amount of pieces but only $70.

The prices are a rough conversion from Hungarian, and may not be accurate as some territories are priced higher by default. For the movie sets, I would think that it could be even lower MSRP, but I am hedging my bets for now.

I know someone here was looking for a b-wing.
That was me, so I most definitely hope these rumours are true. If so I only need a new UCS Falcon to complete the 'to scale' shipline. Imperial Shuttle, X-wing, Tie-Fighter, Y-wing, A-wing, B-wing and a falcon are all the ships I want.
So, LEGO, what are you waiting for, UCS Falcon 2.0 please.

Three Lord of the Rings sets listed, but no set names or piece-counts. Small set ($13), Middle Set ($30) and Large Set ($100).

All I needed to hear. Well, I would have wanted more but that leaves room for a bunch of stuff. Some new character in a small set, a middle set with a big construct (balrog or Treebeard?) and a large set that could include a ton of Pelennor scenes.

Or it's all walls with Legolas and Gimli.

Oh, and I told you those riggings were returning :D

Legends of Chima:

70142 Eris Fire Eagle Plane; 330 pcs; $35
70143 Sir Fangarm Sabre-tooth Tiger; 415 pcs; $50

70145 Maula Ice Mammoth; 604 pcs; $75
70146 Flight to the Phoenix Fire Temple; 1,301 pcs; $150

I'm not going to bother with the Speedorz (9 of these) or the new Constraction figs (6 of those).

I think we've quickly moved from "rumors" to "varying-levels-of-accuracy translated facts" now. You can probably count on that B-Wing.

Please note that these lists would not have any "direct" sets, so there is more to announce.

Plus, I don't see any Super Heroes sets here.

So is this the 5th.....or 6th snowspeeder to be released? Also seems like we just got a set that had one in it recently.

And that is it!

Quite a day for LEGO news, and a hell of a way to cap off the year.

Happy New Year LEGO-GAF! Let's start off 2014 with a bang!

Yeah, we did last year, with that Battle of Hoth set. LEGO probably wanted to capitalize on the AT-AT being released in the fall.

Makes sense. I wonder what else will be packed in with it seeing as the snowspeeder itself is not a $40 ship.

Also, just between SW and City alone, it's going to be an expensive 2nd half of the year. Are the Simpsons sets suppose to release then, too, or this spring?

Maybe its an Oliphant or Watcher in the Water set.

Simpsons are supposed to be April/May.

Looks like a lot of really expensive sets this year. (Over $50.)

Isn't that a bit much? Especially when most of the LEGO Movie sets are so well priced.

My niece received her first set of Legos a few weeks back and she really liked it. It was some sort of garden theme... I don't know. She's 8 and said she really liked it.

That's a good start. :) Is it a basic brick set?
You did good. Really good uncle. I can't say best cuz her other uncles may have gotten her the Dolphin Cruiser set AND a 1,000 piece starter set. :)

LEGO Agents:

70162 Caught in the Dungeon; xxx pcs; $35
70163 Toxikita Toxic Accident; xxx pcs; $50
70164 Sweeping Action Robber; xxx pcs; $70
70165 Ultra Agent Headquarters; xxx pcs; $125

EDIT: Agents are back!!!

Interesting. I wonder if SHIELD from the Avengers brought back interest in spy theme.
If I knew this, I wouldn't have bought a bunch of Agent minifigs through Bricklink. Interesting there isn't a low end entry set in the $12 area.

Star Wars (edited):

75054 AT-AT; 1,138 pcs; $120
75055 Imperial Star Destroyer; xxx pcs; $150

Efff me. That's about $300+ more to buy.

CITY (edited):

60032 Polar Snowmobile; 44 pcs; $7
60033 Polar Tracked Vehicle; 113 pcs; $15
60034 Polar Lift Helicopter; 262 pcs; $30

60051 High-Speed Passenger Train; 610 pcs; $120

They moved away from Artic? You sure the sets aren't named Pollar?
If they are doing these for City them, they should do more expedition sets.

I demand a new set with sharks that have lasers attatched to their heads. Or better yet a bunch of the Friends animals with lasers attached to their heads.

Took a break from breaking down sets and sorting pieces from the random box of pieces I was sent and built the Alien Mothership I picked up last week.

REALLY cool set when done. The build was good overall, but not mindblowing. But the end results are so cool. I love how it makes the sounds as you spin the saucer around. I just love the 50s sci fi vibe that the alien ships had from this line, and the sound brick just sends it further.

On a disappointing note though, I am upset to see the curved train tracks that come with it are only 6 studs wide instead of the 8 studs that the regular train tracks are.

Yep, its the same track as the Joker Funhouse and Indiana Jones Temple of Doom sets.

Nope - I forgot to bring it up last time I was at the store. BttF was a day-1 release at LEGO stores, so I'm hoping that the Mars Rover is as well.

I called the Westfield Stratford store before going yesterday and asked if they had the Mars set and they said it will only be available online.

Big-grains-of-salt-rumor time!

Supposed Star Wars summer sets:

75048 - Phantom; 20-30 EUR
75049 - Snowspeeder; 278 pieces; 30-40 EUR
75050 - B-wing; 448 pieces; 50-60 EUR
75051 - Jedi Hunter; 490 pieces; 60-70 EUR
75052 - Mos Eisley Cantina; 615 pieces; 70-80 EUR
75053 - The Ghost; xxx pieces; 90-100 EUR
75054 - AT-AT; 1138 pieces; 110EUR
75055 - Imperial Star Destroyer; ~ 120EUR

If true, sounds like a mix of OT and Rebels (the new animated series) sets.

I'm a sucker for the B-Wing but need to see most of the others to decide. AT-AT and ISD are a given.

The LEGO Movie:

70814 Emmet's Construction Mech; 707pcs; $70
70815 Police Dropship; 853 pcs; $100
70816 Benny's Spaceship; 939 pcs; $125

My bank account will not be happy but I may have to buy all of these. Benny's Spaceship is a done deal, the other two if I can get a bit of a discount.

Thanks for the info. I might as well put my order in online then. The set seems to be selling out fast. It's now backordered until the 20th.

Wanted to sleep in, but my body woke me up on its own at the right time to get to the LEGO store about twenty minutes after they open. I will sleep when I am dead. Time for breakfast, a long drive, and a new modular.

I couldn't even sleep to my alarm, so here I am getting ready to go to the store. It opens in 1 hour 10 minutes!!!

Are they moving to two modular sets a year now?

I was wondering about this. Like it would be cool if it was like a half modular like one of 2 buildings in pet shop set being released as its own set. It is something I think they should consider doing. My hope would be them releasing a yearly row house/city house that was modular compatible. I actually have built a few of my own versions to go with the pet shop one.

I got the Back To The Future set for Xmas. I plan on getting the theater and restaurant at some point this year too. Other than that, I'm trying to lay a little low on the Lego buying because we have a lot of plans with the family this year that will take up a lot of my mad money.

I may also try and disassemble my existing sets, sort, then rebuild some stuff at some point.

Well that's a bummer. Thanks for getting that info - I'll have to put together a S@H order later today, once I am back from the store.
