Well, it does have over 700 pieces...
It sure doesn't look like that though, gotta have a lot of small pieces.

Kind of poor value really. It doesn't look that great, its greatest draw are the minifigs. A shame the shuttle doesn't have new Vader, Luke, Emperor and the Royal Guards...

EDIT Wait, never mind, i am answering to wrong thing.

You know, the TIE is a bit boring in design, and with 300+ less pieces than the Slave 1 and only 1 minifigure -- yet at the same price point ($200 bucks) it just doesnt feel like a good value.

Went back to the last LEGO thread and GOTG had one set publicly showed and tried to keep the others under wraps, wonder if the same applies with Ant Man?

I can't believe I'm going to buy every single Scooby Doo set, but I totally am. Generally even with the themes I love I only pick and choose my couple favorites, but I need all these. The plane set would be the one I'd pass on but I really want the Headless Horseman minifig.

I see the leaked description of the "Burton Batmobile" was a very loose description

The missus surprised me with the new Wookie Gunship today! Psyched for more Star Wars building :) Double barrel cannons and lots of missing pieces!

I'm definitely getting the Imperial Shuttle and probably the Final Duel. The Marvel sets look great and I might grab them for my son. It's going to be a hard second half of the year for my wallet. Bring on the Force Awakens sets too.

Dude are you effing kidding me, the big City shuttle is $120? That puts a huge damper on it. How is it so much?!? It's just the ship right, and then the little guys in the buggy? Does it come with like the whole launch tower and stuff too? Am I missing something?

Saw Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas at the mall today and had a very very hard time leaving it on the shelf. I cant justify buying that set just to get a GG big fig... can I LEGO Gaf? ....

CAN I?????

That set has a Michael Bluth Minifigure in it. As far as I'm concerned it's worth it just for that.

Hmmm, still not loving those launcher pieces but I suppose they could have a use elsewhere.

I too want a Gorilla Grodd minifig but I'm not buying the set just for it!

Wow, that's more than the awesome Shuttle Adventure set from a couple years back. I think that was $100 for a 1200+ piece set.

I'm glad I got it before it went out of print. LEGO City subtheme seem to have the most price gorging after Star Wars.

In recent years, I've found the Star Wars pricing to be mostly reasonable versus the parts count, whereas the CITY pricing seems to be getting progressively worse.

Yeah really, I think Star Wars pricing has been pretty reasonable to piece count more often than not.

EDIT: To wetwired above, I saw you put the wrong picture in that comment and was like wtf I don't see a futuron guy on the deep sea adventures set :p

More pricing info is trickling in, so I'm going to keep updating my list above over the next day. I'm also going to add parts counts to all the sets, so you can see what themes are gouging the most, and where the best values are.

I hate to quote myself but I'm really curious - does anybody know the story behind these things?

I don't know the full story of these but I also have a set of them and I believe they were released back in 2004 if my spreadsheet is to be believed. I think I got mine off eBay, as they were not made for direct sale here in the U.S. since it appears to be something released in Japan. I paid about $15 for the set of 3. I think the x-wing was a re-release of the mini x-wing released here but the other 2 mini ships may have been unique. At least at the time, anyway.

Thanks!

$25 for all three seemed like a good deal for the novelty of them. That Brickset link...they've released a lot of sets!

I noticed in a video today that the purple(or blue) on the legs goes all the way around. Are they starting to mold legs like they do the short sleeve arms now?

lol - I just watched the UCS designer reveal video...

"Well, here's the Tie Fighter... Oh, there's a stand. And the top pops open... Yeah. That stand is really nice. Well, that's about it."

The Tie Fighter is such an iconic ship, so of course I will buy - just wasn't a lot to show off for such a big set, since it's a pretty basic ship.

Probably going to pick up Deep Sea Submarine, the Exploration Vessel (that shipwreck), some of the Bioncle villains (need a closer look at them), The Assault Carrier and maybe the Flash Cruiser, all the Scooby sets, and maybe one of the smaller Minecraft sets to finish them off.

I'm interested in the Jokerland set but need a closer look before deciding. Out of all the stuff I was looking forward the JW sets seem the weakest. Definitely going to need a closer look before I buy.

Any ideas as to when we will start getting rumors and hints as to the Episode 7 sets?

We have gotten a breakdown on the themes (hero's starship, etc) of the sets for ep 7 as well as costs.

Whomever is in charge of CITY needs to be removed, and the head of Friends needs to take over that theme.

I always wondered why the incredible detail and small touches from the Friends theme has never fully translated into other themes. Small sets like Vet Clinic, Juice Bar, Pet Salon, and Downtown Bakery are all under 300 pieces yet have lots of detail.
