I haven't had any time to build lately but inbetween work I've been fiddling with custom minifigs. I updated Scully with some new hair and used a KO wolverine mask as a basis for my OG Batman.

Highly collectible Level Packs, Team Packs and Fun Packs will provide new buildable characters, vehicles, tools and gadgets, as well as compelling game content with new mission-based levels and unique in-game abilities. All expansion packs will feature well-known properties and provide gamers the opportunity to use everything interchangeably, anywhere throughout the game – with no limitations.

A small sample of packs available in 2015 include the Back to the Future Level Pack with a LEGO Marty McFly minifigure, a LEGO Ninjago Team Pack with Kai and Cole minifigures, three Ninjago Fun Packs with Jay, Nya and Zane minifigures, two DC Comics Fun Packs with Wonder Woman and Cyborg minifigures, three The Lord of the Rings Fun Packs with LEGO Gollum, LEGO Gimli and LEGO Legolas minifigures, four The LEGO Movie Fun packs with Emmet, Bad Cop, Benny and Unikitty characters, and a The Wizard of Oz Fun Pack with a LEGO Wicked Witch of the West minifigure. Very impressed by the execution so far but disappointed that it's so ball-bustingly expensive. I mean, the BTTF kit alone is $30. Plus it's mildly annoying that they're teasing franchises that they pretty much discontinued already. :-/

There was an episode of the Cheap Ass Gamer podcast a while back where CheapyD was going off on Disney Infinity and made the argument that you should just get the latest LEGO game for your kid instead because it already comes with all of the characters while having similar gameplay style and appeal.

Curious to see what his reaction is to this.

This game is not going to be cheap... but hopefully it will be good. If it's good, it will be worth the money to me. This game is going to live or die from its creative mode IMO... I hope LEGO is finally going to give us something that can at least hold a candle to what kids can do in Minecraft. We need an immersive LEGO building game, dammit.

The BTTF set is tempting as a $30 Hoverboard for the CUUSOO set.

$100 isn't too far off for the starter. $60 game (which is a full game), 269 pieces which you can just round to $30 for the sake of licensing, and $10 for the portal mechanic device. It really isn't that bad.

It isn't the best pricing but it isn't that bad considering you are getting removable LEGO pieces plus a way to interact with a game with new DLC stuff.

So they aren't smoking anything. In the press release they even say that they won't be forcing you to buy upgraded portals for future releases, aka LEGO Dimensions 2 will be standard $60.
