Will someone much smarter than me design a Lego ideas haunted mansion from Disney complete with stretching room

Thank you!
Probably far too close to the haunted house (at least here, it is nearly identical to the Dusney one, minus the inside obviously)

Still want to mod it into a Addams manor (which will never happen officially)

BTW, I'm watching the Tested show where they build the Death Star and the SSD, from 2012. They mentioned NeoGAF, I think, but that was before my LegoGAF time. It's pretty nice to watch how they transition from "okay, building Lego is kind of quaint and fun" to hardcore AFOL:s only a few episodes later.

Gary Whitta was an active LEGO-GAF'er at one point, and I believe Norm lurked around here as well.

Too big probably. Though I hope it is because Lego is working on brick built dinos themselves. The Indominous and Stego are chanceless now...
At 600 pieces, it would've been in the same ballpark as the rest of the recent Ideas sets. I have a feeling it was simply treading too close to the Jurassic Park/World license.

Some happy little bricks...

I think this group of Ideas sets had the MOST of any of them that I was actually interested in, so I'm definitely disappointed to see an across-the-board rejection. Of course I never expected a Nintendo IP to go through now when they never have before, and a couple of them seemed too big (Rex/Market), but most seemed plausible. I was super hyped for Titanic (there was a small-ish version in the submission), Golden Girls, Daft Punk, the space station, the plane and the car..... :(

Ideas is kind of jumping the shark for me. It's unclear what is and isn't okay to get an approval, the production issues on Wall-E, the rejection of things on Ideas (firehouse) that get made later leaves a bad taste even if I understand it.....and the stuff that gets submitted on the site and gains traction is getting more and more redundant to existing properties (ie, "here's MY Star Wars thing!" "here's MY Marvel/DC thing!").

Licensing issues can't be avoided I guess in a lot of cases. Birds is still my favorite Ideas set, so I'm not all about licenses but this time there were a lot I liked.

I've been tempted to get the Scooby Doo Mansion, but I already have the Haunted House, which I think makes for a better Scooby Doo setpiece. However, I've wanted to get another Scooby set and am leaning towards the lighthouse as a cheaper alternative to the mansion.

The lighthouse is great! It's a fun build, the opening skull cave is a great feature, and aside from the boat it doesn't have a very cartoony vibe (it doesn't scream "Scooby Doo" on its own) so it can be easily repurposed for other stuff. I have both it and the Scooby Mansion but if you already have the big haunted house I'd go for the lighthouse for sure.

Oh, tought it was more pieces. Yeah, to close to jw then shame we won't ever have brick built dinos probably...

Anyway, just received Vader constraction as a late birthday gift. Not into constraction stuff, but hey, i'm not complaining. Will be a cool display piece!

Nothing is moving on from the first 2015 Lego Ideas review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXekrsaJ8uU

The only one I was excited about was the 1969 Corvette. It still baffles me how Golden Girls even reached 10k let alone was seriously considered to go into production. I guess it a still has huge appeal in the US?

I'm guessing Science Adventures was nixed due to the poor sales of The Science set.

Frozen obviously conflicts with their own one now.

Discworld, as much as it has a fanbase is obscure and not mass market.

Medieval Market St is way too big

Douglas DC-3 is cool but I think planes don't have the broad appeal of something like the mini cooper or VW Wagon.

T-Rex is rad but I think it being more of a statue and less of an interactive set hurt its chances, could possibly have caused confusion with the JW sets also.

International space station I liked but is a difficult one to make into a marketable product, it's visually not very interesting.

Zelda joins the long line of Zelda sets to be rejected, perhaps Nintendo is one of the companies named in the video as not being interested in producing a set?

Titanic I could potentially see getting through but looking at the project page it's a bit of a mess with about 4 different versions presented at different scales.

1969 Corvette I loved but the piece count probably puts it out of the range of an ideas product and into the mini cooper/vw wagon price range.

Art of the brick statue, meh, it has it's appeal I guess as a presentation piece but it's not for me.

Daft Punk was interesting, I'm only mildly into their music (Tron Legacy OST) but the submission was small and constrained, could have easily been pulled off in a small run.

Random post:

Has anyone got a random film they would love mini figures based on?

I would love the wet / sticky bandits from home alone, love those guys; in fact a home alone set would be amazing all round even if totally impractical!

Edit - someone proposed it on ideas:

https://ideas.lego.com/projects/48240

even seeing it as a concept is awesome, shame it never stood a chance!

Dimensions is just so freaking tempting to me but everytime my impulse kicks in my brain stops at me at the last second saying "NO! This is a really bad misallocation of your funds."

Same here... but i am waiting for a major discount to jump on it... let's hope it won't happen lol. Still got like 4 or 5 regular Lego games to play through anyway

The vehicle models are quite nice and each has three builds.

(I am NOT helping.)

asked this in the dimensions OT but i will take any feedback i can get, which version is considered the "best"? The newer gen ones presumably b/c better graphics right? What about the old gen ones, anyone got those and can compare?

I guess this is a question for the MOC specialists.

My 4 almost 5 year old daughter has a desire for the family to build a "Christmas Village" this year. Not just the official Winter Village sets. She already put together lamps with wreaths, and made a tree lot for someone to sell Xmas trees.

Part of the plan is to build a mountain area. I am at a loss as to how to build a mountain. I have maybe 25 2x8 White Bricks. Looking to cover a 32x32 baseplate. What else would i need? Trying to get an idea for a Bricklink order.

BURP pieces.

And 25 2x8 blocks is not going to go very far either, Even if the center of the mountain is hollow.

A lot of my collection is built around landscaping, so i'd start with some of these if you were short on time or bricks. There's specialised snow/ice ones but even with the basic grey ones you could then put lots of white slopes and bricks on them to make the snow. It would be possible to just make stacks or steps of basic coloured bricks and then coat them with white slopes, curved or angular.

These could be useful for more gradual sloping for sledges too depending how high you wanted the hill.

You could use some DUPLO to build up the volume of your mountain

Look around for used stuff. For parts that go inside, I don't mind using worn old 2x4s and such, unless they happen to be really messy.

But yeah, any kind of landscaping eats up a LOT of parts really quickly.

I've just completed the Ferris Wheel. Magnificent Beast overall, good build, albeit a tad repetitious but that's obvious with all the same cars and twice the wheel itself etc.

One thing though: I have installed the Power Functions simple motor to have it spin automatically and... while it DOES work, i wasn't quite expecting THAT much noise? I mean, for you guys that use it, is yours like super quiet or does it constantly make a pretty loud noise while spinning?

Loud noise unfortunately but I think thats just the motor or gears working not a fault of the ferris wheel. The helicarrier makes the same loud noise. Fortunately i'm going to have loud carnival and halloween music playing tonight while its going so that should drown it out hopefully.

Thanks mate, that confirms that this is normal then i suppose...

I wrapped up my build of the Parisian Restaurant last night and if there was ever a set that met, or even exceeded, all the hype and expectations placed on it, it was this set. It really does deliver from the first steps all the way to the final ones. The details in it are amazing and plentiful. I had built the Detectives Office a couple months ago, and while that one was really good, too, this one is the superior set.

Now I don't know what to build next as everything else will probably pale in comparison.

My number one set for 2014.

Suggestions to follow-up would be the Temple of Airjitzu or the Sea Cow.

It's very hard to find any set anywhere that's better than Parisian Restaurant. It's in my top 5 ever, not that I've made an actual list.

The PR is my favorite set of all-time. It's not close. Nothing compares, as far as build, display, and (gasp) play value, it has no equal.

The Brick Bank may be close. I'm REALLY hyped about it.

For the Star Wars/MOC guys around here:

Has anyone seen the current UCS X-Wing modified to be like the blue X-Wing in the Force Awaken trailers? If not, would it be practical to do? Expensive? Would it even be worth it? I've only seen it through glances in the trailer, is it even the same shape?

I *was* able to find a color-swapped Poe's X-Wing, though.

Got my bootleg Chinese Big Hero 6 minifigs in the mail today, and I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed. I mean, they're clearly of inferior quality to Lego by a wide margin, but they're pretty decent, especially for the $7 I paid for them.

Pet Shop is probably going to retire any day now, right? And the Cinema soonish?

I have always just kind of ignored the modulars because by the time I got back into Lego the first 3 or 4 had already retired, so I figured why start with them, but I've been looking at pictures of the 4 that are available (pet shop, cinema, restaurant, detective's office) plus the upcoming bank and that would still be an awesome street display. Last day of double VIP...

Well, no Temple.....yet. The Sea Cow is in my backlog so that's a good option. Just need to find some space to display it after its done.

I'm now inclined to agree. I can't think of much that would top it when you factor in overall build quality and finished product. UCS Falcon, maybe?

The Pet Shop is still one of my favorites due to the attached brownstone. I want to buy more and do the brownstone in different colors and then connect them together in a row.

Sea Cow before it disappears forever. There is time for the Temple of Airjitsu.

Speaking of which, I will wait a week or two to make my top sets of the year list. I feel the need to get Morro Dragon before making my mind up, but not promising I will get it before Christmas.

This year is going to be very, very hard to whittle down to a top 5, or even a top 10. So many wonderful sets.

I was a bit worried that Dimensions would count as "consoles", but it's all 25% off. So I just got PS4 Lego Dimensions, Nya, Eris and Marty to go with my Chell set I got before. Oh, and since I'm getting Marty, I bricklinked the parts I needed for the Delorean (had about half of it already). I finally have a lugbulk coming in, so I'll be expanding my city soon, so more streets to fill.

black light is working on my display but more for bright colored pieces not the glow in the dark ones. My mixer isnt doing crap but the ferris wheel has lots of effects going on.
