Haha, what one set is a dupe?

Oh ya, I know my resell is ok, although I've broken down a lot of sets and thrown out most of the boxes. My unopened backlog includes the Imperial Shuttle UCS and Haunted House and I may just leave them there in case of emergency. I have more than enough to occupy my time.

I just like to check how much I've spent up till now and curious what others have spent.

I try not to think about it. I do have a Bricklink store and have been trying to unload duplicate minifigs and parts I have too many. I may end up liquidating a lot of my tires and wheels. Most have little value since LEGO is the biggest tire maker in the world because they are is so many of their sets.

$11,750

I'd probably add another 1k on top of that for loose purchases & doubles etc.

If I were to guess, I'd be in that area + or - a few k. I started around end of 2011. Lex Luthor Power Armor and the whole Super Hero theme pulled me out of my dark ages.

Brickset doesn't really help me with determining how much I've spent, given that it just uses retail prices, and I buy practically everything on discount. Plus it doesn't factor in how much profit I've made from reselling sets I never got around to opening, which is pretty massive.

I'm not quite sure but it's probably one of the holiday promotional sets.

Wow.
What time period is that covering?
Hopefully you are not my age.

I got back into LEGO in late 2011 after Walmart had a huge 50% off after Xmas sale. I've been collecting sets every since.

The numbers are kinda ballooned up since I also own most of the collectable minifigure series.

I buy most sets on sale too. And Brickset doesn't have the retail prices for CMF 14 inputted. I bought all of those at a higher price since the LEGO Honolulu store is priced about 10% above RRP. I figure I spent about $140 total on CMF 14 cuz I bought dupes, some by accident and some on purpose (had to get extra gargoyles for my haunted fort MOC).

Hahaha you have a collection most of us can only dream of.

Enjoy it for us.

I spend about $1200ish on Lego a year, give or take. I spend around $1500 on video games and $800ish on board games, two of my other hobbies. Video games can go much higher if I need a new PC or a new console generation is released. VR is going to be pricey when it hits!

2016 is looking pretty light so far on my Lego purchases. After the big two teleases on Jan 1, it looks like slim pickins for the duration.

All in all, not bad. My yearly bonus covers these hobbies for the year (as well as maintaining my outdoor hobbies). There are much more expensive hobbies out there, that's for sure!

Man my videogame budget is laughable compared to my Lego budget.

I feel my gaming budget has gone down a lot from previous generations if you exclude new console purchases. Last 2 generations, there were tons of games from so many publishers. This generation with so many publishers gone, there's only so many AAA titles released yearly. Indie titles just go down in price so much that you can get a bunch of games from a Humble Bundle for a buck.

It has helped alot by having patience and not buying games day one. Wait for el cheapo sales and PSN sales. I still have a backlog anyways so no point in rushing to play Fallout 4 at full price.

I'm working on my christmas scene right now and i'm debating on rebuilding the WV carousel from a couple years ago. I have the food stands and they fit in with my ice skating rink thing I got going on but the carousel just doesn't seem to fit in with my whole scene.

If the Best Star is truly retiring, looks like I should stop procrastinating and just get on it this weekend...

As soon as Ghostmind pointed out it was now retiring soon i've been back and forth on it. I know people love it, but i'm still not sure I like the open playset look of it. I would like one that is at least half closed on one side. But, it is the Death Star and it comes with a shit ton of figs. This Double VIP news doesn't help either, I was suddenly thinking of jumping on the Temple of Airjitsu as well. Good god it is so hard not to be selfish this time of year with all the Lego deals.

Do it!

Then hide it in your secret LEGO closet.

Your wife doesn't know about the SLC. It's underneath the staircase to the basement...a staircase she descends on a regular basis but never thinks to investigate. Clever misdirection (errant socks leading away from the closet), off-the-cuff comments about that area of the house "...saw another house centipede down stairs-man those things are fast!" coupled with a strong will should ensure you remain strong for another day.

Protip: Leave the Best Star in the cardboard box. In the nightmare scenario that your wife (partner, etc.) discovers the treasure trove they will only stumble upon a mishmash of unrelated sets you got at steep discounts. These items are nothing to worry the family about. There is certainly no Best Star to be found.

I'm 12 months in and I have no idea when I'll have the stones to build it.

Best Star is a must get. Sure, the build is rather pedestrian compared to other huge Star Wars sets, but the thing is just a huge nostalgia trip as you build it. It brings the feels.

I just got mine and I feel like this will be me lol. I did manage to get it in the basement and yes it's still in the cardboard ;)

The double vip is so tempting. Thinking of grabbing mixer, ferris, and sandcrawler this weekend.

Ha! You should label that box "Not Best Star".

Tempted to get Sandcrawler now. Was going to wait for February for next double VIP to snag it. It is the lone UCS Star Wars set I don't have since coming out of the dark ages. It should still be around in February, right?

It'd be cool if they ever revisited some more of the classic worlds like Space Police, M-Tron, Blacktron, Unitron, Ice Planet factions. I also was in love with Aquazone as a kid. Aquanauts, Aqua Sharks, Aqua Raiders, Stingray.

I had (and still have) this one:

I still remember my grandfather buying it for me at KB Toys in the Mall of America. Loved that thing.

Gotta get with the REAL Space Police. Get dat classic blue/black color scheme and red windows.

As a kid, I had rebuilt this one so many times I had memorized the build. I can still build the old jail cells without instructions to this day, which is kind of scary to think about right now.

And looking back on it, it might have been one of my first exposures to SNOT work and offset builds. The use of jumper plates to get some of the angles always stood out to me as a kid.

The "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" teaser for a teaser (coming Dec. 15th) has me really looking forward to the inevitable LEGO sets from this trilogy.

I missed picking up the Harry Potter sets, but I'll definitely be looking to get these ones.

I really, really hope that they use it as an excuse to re-release editions of some regular Harry potter things. I discovered recently that we lost a large chunk of our stuff from my childhood, including whichever version of hogwarts i had. I also never bought diagon alley so a new version of that would be cool....

Blacktron > all. But I am biased. It was just awesome that the bad guys got their own theme. Of course, I didn't know they were bad guys until the police showed up the next year. I thought they were just a space gang of badasses with great vehicles and badass outfits.

Heh, good story. :) You should pack away some of those other sets into cardboard boxes, further eliminating the quick to spot evidence should she actually open up that closet door.

Though what happens when your backlog takes up 2 closets in the basement. And a whole room of stuff on display. And a few more sets displayed in another room down there. I need more closets, I think.

Wow that brings back memories. My cousin and I had that and the Solar Snooper and had many a good times with them.

Do you guys have Amazon Prime Now in your areas? I was just browsing it and you get $20 off your first order of $50 or more. There's a bunch of Lego sets including modulars. But then I was imaging the sets bouncing around someone's back set while it was being delivered, so I might just use it for some smaller sets.

Going back to the Best Star. It's a set I don't have, but have helped build it. There are rumours of a new Death Star coming out, so it depends if you want to gamble on the old or new set. The minifigs look so dated now, I think that has put me off a bit, but I think I'd prefer an enclosed type model.
Sand crawler should be around a while longer. Looks like the x-wing is going first. I can't decide whether to get the crawler or not. If I drank less booze I'd be able to afford a lot more Lego!

Yeah, same here. But I love me my beer. And always a sucker for any new stuff that hits that I never tried before.

And I am on the fence with Sandcrawler as well. It isn't screaming to me to buy it, but I have come this far with getting all the UCS stuff since the Imperial Shuttle and I would feel weird not having one of the sets.

Still not getting the Death Star. Even if I had somewhere to put it, the pre-2009 figures with crappy eyes annoy me so much.

Temple would be nice, but still no space. And I'll be spending like $700 in twenty days, gotta stay strong until then at least.

You need a secret house. If it's discovered just talk about all the centipedes in there.

That rumor and the old style mini-figs are honestly the two things that had previously dissuaded me from picking it up. And with a huge backlog of sets to build, as well as a long wishlist, it's been hard to just take the leap of faith.

Arrrgh - decisions, decisions...

Holy shit those were the exact same two sets I had as a kid from that series!!! That's crazy.
