Damn. All I saw on clearance at my Target were some Mixels and random SW sets at the insane 15% discount.

Honestly it probably depends on the target as well. The targets closer to me did not have much on clearance so I never go to those. This particular one I discovered 4 months ago during the last clearance and found that they deep discount much more stuff. It is in the poorer section of town right next to the casino.

This is its last year iirc?

That's too bad, the show just started making a little bit of sense with the fire vs ice stuff. Befor that though this is how my 3 year old son described the show.

"They're friends but then they're not and I don't know why."

He loves the minifigs.

Kipp

but I am taking tiny steps forward
I was able to stop by the Lego store yesterday and picked up Birds! So excited.
I also saw Parisian Restaurant and Detective's Office in the flesh while I was there... So gorgeous. I need to get Pet Shop before it goes OOP...

Guys, I finally got Future Flyers, but I can't decide which to build. Obviously the mech, but dat car...

maybe

I

should

buy

another

one

Why not build all three? Just build one, appreciate the build for a few days, then take it apart and build another one.
I got three Creator sets for Christmas and I'm building all three builds of each set. Makes for some excellent value.

Just picked up at the Detective's Office. I was going to wait a little while but I have double VIP points for today only (as a reward for buying something during the instore VIP event last year).

So yeah, looking forward to assembling my "cookie" contraband.

Guys, I was sure Mixels series 4 had been released but it seems they haven't. When will they be available ? :/

February is what I have heard for Mixels S4.

Ultra Agents 1H sets should be having its release in February as well in North America (they are already available in Europe/UK)

It seems LEGO is doubling down on Ninjago and focusing on reviving Bionicle instead. Who knows, Chima could get a refresh in a few years. There is strong precedent for that in LEGO.

I'm wondering if LEGO has another new line in the works to fill it void or if they are just stretching their teams too thin and need to realocate people to work on the other existing lines. They are launching Friends Elves this year, for example...

Let's hope they are focusing on relaunching Space

I also hope they have more Space in the works.

LEGO is all about imagination but not many themes can capture it the way this can.

Made an order for a bunch of sets January 1, included Rebels sets, DD Couch, and one minifigure pack. Got an email saying minifigure pack was delayed but it has shipped on Saturday. The other stuff just says "in warehouse."

Anybody have this happen to them? What does this mean?

i saw that elves video on facebook earlier, people are ripping on it HARD.

Is it just promotion or is there a series coming?

I haven't heard anything about a series, but based on that YouTube/Facebook video I'm thinking that we will get a short feature, either Internet-only and/or direct-to-video.

And yeah, the general consensus so far is very negative.

I was going to head out to LEGO store but they told me they are completely sold out of Tumbler and Slave 1 and won't be getting any in until may be next week. *sigh*

My local Fred Myers did get some new Minifgures in. I have two extra Hot Dog guy for fellow LEGO GAF, PM me if you need them.

I wish they would do an overarching SPACE theme that would have multiple sets from multiple areas/factions and would be a permanent theme, like the way the CITY theme has Police, Fire, Recreational, etc. all fall under its umbrella and is always around.

For a SPACE theme, I'd want:

Explorers: a re-imagining of the Classic Space stuff. Not a complete copy of colors/style but inspired by it, focusing solely on exploration -- so no heavy weaponry anywhere. Very "industrial" and lo-tech, conventional wheeled/prop/jet tech, no hover/anti-grav anything.

Space Miners: like the Explorers but focusing on mining, using the color scheme of the recent Space Miner CMF. Same tech level as the Exp, too.

Space Police: black/white/trans red color scheme. Standard space police stuff, more advanced than EX/SM, some hover tech and slightly sleeker in design.

Space Military: colors of the old Galaxy Patrol CMF. Heavy weaponry and combat based, like Galaxy Squad. More advanced than the space police, with a few hover/anti-grav vehicles. Conventional ballistics/rail weaponry with a few energy weapons.

Blacktron: Very Tron: Legacy-like designs with practically no studs visible, super sleek. Black/dark gray/trans neon green colors. Most advanced tech, no wheels/props/jets only hover and anti-grav tech. All energy weapons.

And if they wanted to do Ice Planet, M-Tron, and Aquazone type stuff, they could just make them off-shoots of the Explorers with specialized gear/vehicles instead of creating a whole new line with different colors and stuff.

That would never happen though because I suspect all the Star Wars stuff keeps any long-running/permanent original space stuff off the table.

I got a horrible Lady Lovelylocks flashback from that video. But it's not like I'll care for the lore, I just want all those fancy parts!

So i just got Creative Ambush in the Lego Store today on clearance... cos it was on clearance.

I remember some talk about it on here a while back, what was all the fuzz about again? It looks decent i think but not sure i get the (semi) hype just yet?

Negative or not, my 7yo daughter is going to flip for these sets and whatever video or show that comes out of it. My wallet can't handle two people in the same house with Lego addictions!

I personally think the colors and figures for the new Elves line will attract even more girls to Lego.

It's got some cool things going for it, especially the old timey bartender named Sudds Backwash, which is the coolest name ever.

Then again, I got mine for $17 so I may be a bit biased.

Seems like an 80's cartoon with digital coloring. Could be my bad headphones at work, but that singing sounded atrocious. Seemed a bit slowed down or something. I respect the Ninjago theme song much more now.

On a side note, did a LEGO store run. Birds sets not sold out. Double Decker and Green Lantern sets sold out first day they got them. Kids were still out of school and it was packed so it's expected that would sell out quickly.

Hot Dog guy and Unicorn is all people are asking when I enter the hunt. I helped some people find the hot dog guy and the unicorn guy (after I found one each for myself first - duplicates as I already have 1 full set).

don't ask me for codes
If it didn't actually say LEGO a few times in that ad you'd never guess it was a LEGO property. Wonder if some kids watch and like the show and then find out the only "dolls" for this is minifigure-sized.

Hi Lego GAF, I've been lurking in these threads for months and thought I should finally write an introductory post.

I'm no different than a lot of others. Loved Lego in my youth, left it behind, then rediscovered it thanks to the Lego movie. My 3.5 year old daughter helped it a lot too since she loves her Duplo blocks, the Lego movie and Lego Star Wars. My passion was always for the classic Space theme. Had a lot of space sets, with a few Castle, City and Pirates, plus lots of random hand me down bricks from relatives. Thankfully, my parents saved them all and I'll be bringing them home once I have some dedicated Lego building, storage & display space.

I dove back into Lego with the Haunted House set, thanks in part to the positive reviews it got here. Worth every penny, it was so much fun to put together and will be a recurring Halloween decoration every year. I've bought my daughter a few Lego Juniors sets, but she's still a little too young for them. Though she does enjoy playing with them after I build it. My classic Space love forced me to grab the entire Galaxy Squad line when Toys R Us had it 50% off for Black Friday and again around Christmas. Way more than I should have spent, but I had to have them. Haven't put them together yet since I won't have space until we finish revamping the basement rec room. My wife gave me a Lego store gift card for Christmas, so I think I'll be picking up Spaceship Spaceship SPACESHIP! which I've wanted badly since seeing the movie.

So thanks to everyone for their posts and general Lego hype. It's been incredibly entertaining and gotten me very excited for a rekindled hobby.

While I haven't brought my old bricks home yet, I did grab the box full of instruction manuals, catalogs and stuff. Thought I'd share some pics:

Manuals for all the space sets I got while growing up. I feel like I'm missing some, but could just be thinking of sets I wished I had.
8vAZeI7.jpg

Manuals for the non-space stuff. Not sure why the Blacksmith manual is photocopied, but I don't seem to have the original anymore. I'm also pretty sure I remember selling the actual Fabuland sets at a rummage sale when I was young. No idea why I would have kept the manuals. Guess I'll find out for sure when I bring them home.
89w5kB2.jpg

Boxes and box clippings. The ones in the first 3 rows are complete boxes, everything below that are clippings. I always loved how they showcased alternate builds for the sets and my Dad started cutting out the pictures for me before tossing the boxes.

Finally, Idea books and a pile of catalogs. I must have saved the majority of product catalogs that came with my sets. I remember studying them constantly.

Welcome, and thanks for posting those amazing pictures! We are of a similar vintage, I suspect. Beta Command Base is still my favorite set (I also had parents with foresight!).

I know I waffle so much but due to circumstances I may be moving. i don't have room to start modular collections and I was looking at my to buy list still for Super Heroes and it would be dumb for me to add anything else to it.

I'm thinking of making the Tumbler my next major purchase to be safe. Have any of you that purchased really enjoy it? I have a feeling if I wait on it that I risk it going oop and I have a feeling Joker Funland is going to be a big set that may be an instant buy once it gets announced.

speaking of which when should we expect the Helicarrier announcement? If it's Feb. VIP early access that should put it by the end of this month right?

The Tumbler is an awesome build and a fantastic display piece. The only issue with it is that while the main frame of it is sturdy and built like a tank, the outer shell is fragile as hell. Touch it the wrong way and something will come off of it.

Ok cool good enough for me. Everything is pretty much display only for me so that works. Sea Cow seems very fragile to me but once I got it in its display spot its been fine. I would love to eventually get some sort of display stand and make it all Bat-Vehicles. Still hoping for an eventual UCS Batwing or at least some big Batwing set to round out what I have already.

I love seeing pics like that, the old sets are what I'm mainly about so I really enjoy seeing those pics and welcome!

LEGO S@H is all out of the polybags from this month. According to FBTB the Star Wars one sold out by Jan 2!!

http://www.fbtb.net/2015/01/05/lego-shophome-all-out-of-the-promotional-polys/

Has this ever happened before?

Well that Darth Revan one sold out pretty darn fast too I believe, or that may have been the Martian Manhunter one. Either way I went into the Lego store today and got the flower kart polybag.

Welcome!

As a fellow Classic Space fan, I urge you to get Spaceship X 3. I have it, but have not built it yet. However, everywhere I've read it's had very positive reviews. I saw a video review and was surprised how many play features they were able to incorporate and have a lot of nods to the classic space spaceships.

Finished building the Birds Ideas set earlier this afternoon.

It was a pretty fun build, that wasn't overly repetitive. I will say the Blue Jay is quite fragile, but does look the coolest out of the three.

Awesome stuff! That Knight's Tournament is one of the first two or three Castle sets ever released, so it's pretty rare. Was all of that yours? There's Lego all the way from 1978 to 1992-ish, so I'm guessing you're... 35 or 36?

I had similar pictures a year or so ago, when I looted all my old stored boxes. I've since sorted out most of my old sets and completed them with missing parts, which was a lot of fun. Especially those idea books, there were always so many impressive buildings that I never had enough parts for.

Speaking of which, does Lego release these things anymore, or is it just third party books like The Lego Neighborhood? It would be cool to see an official modular or two without instructions.
