Let It Die |OT| F2P roguelike Dark Souls with a skateboarding skeleton

So, I dabbled in Let it Die a bit when it launched. It seemed like a cool little game. I figured I would get back to it sooner or later. What I didn't expect was for it to consume my life whole. Jesus, I must have dumped, like, twelve hours into this game in the last twenty four hours. I haven't played a game like this since Demon's Souls...

lol

PORK CHOPPER is a killer

COEN 3 floor 1 hit
JIN DIE 6 floor 1 hit
MAX boos 10 floor 1 hit
GOTO9 that lame boos at 11 floor 1 hit

damn :)

Ohhhh, that explains it. Thanks for the heads-up!
I managed to beat one of those "do this without that" missions early on, but don't think I'll tackle the rest until I'm positive I can take everything out in 1-2 hits and rushdown Haters before they steal kills.

yup, always do a dryrun first with gear to see where the haters are and start with the tier 1 challenges to get to know how to do them in basically safe environment :D even though later on even the first floor runs can be tough with a Tier 5 hater there in your way

So no surprise, I haven't posted in this thread in a while becuase I had to take a break. Game is SO good, but the chest grinding in the 20's and 30's is just so damn bad. Streaky and super monotonous. I hope they add a way to obtain those black and red metals later that doesn't invoke the same 2 circuits.

The thing is, they did add a way to get red and black metals in a fun way. However they fucked up the implementation. I'm talking about the quests which are impossible because of haters killing screamers. Getting metals that way could be a fun way to become better at the game and get a nice reward too.

Speaking off, I know gamer development takes a long time, but I really feel like it's about time they put out a new update. The loading times are still killing me plus if they just fix the quests this game is already so much better.

I think I've completed a "go from x to y killing everything" quest even though a hater got one screamer.

Maybe it only matters when there's a weapon type restriction?

Edit: As it is, the game should at least let us know when the conditions on a quest are failed.

12 hours is consuming your whole life? (*looks at his own 146 hours*).

It's quite a bummer that quite a few of the game's sidequests are terrible. All of those "kill all enemies on this level" missions are potentially unfinishable, because some hater might just kill one NPC enemy before you get there.

I can't even finish the first one. I've been sprinting to the point where I know the haters are chilling out, but even at full sprint and ignoring regular enemies, they always manage to kill at least 1 NPC.

It is always two floors that you have to clear. IIRC, if haters kill anything it shoildn't matter.

some people in raid has un normal great rankings and high equipment....silver or higher medal, who are those?

i made it to toose floor 33, any way to avoid that boss at 34, to reach 35 asap to gain level 5 fighters? :)

Higher medals are based on tdm points, you get tdm points from raiding people close to or higher than the points you have.

Silver = 1000 points
Gold = 1500
Platinum = 2000
Diamond = 3000

The rank stat is just based on the number and grade of fighters the player has. A rank 1 has 1 1* character, whereas a rank 70 has 10 5*s, with whatever variance in between.

People with higher tdm points tend to have defenders equipped with the intent of defending those points, as you get a better raid bonus at higher tiers (800, 2000, 4000, 7000, 10000 coins/spl per raid).

Two things i learned today

1) weapons degrade just by swinging them even if you don't make contact with anything. This is ridiculous

2) Apparently, your armor degrades faster based on the number of hits it takes rather than the overall damage. So for example, if you get hit once for 2000 damage, that will affect your durability far less than if you were to get hit 10x for 200 damage per hit. This would explain why things like fire, the iron and jin-die's beam wreck armor because it's just constant ticks of damage against your armor.

this is why i love the fire longsword. one swipe gets enemies on DoT and wrecks their armor. sometimes i'll just attack until their last few ticks of health and then run to the side and watch them burn to death for fun.

I just got invaded by a hater who's over 50 levels higher than my highest level character.
My best weapon that has killed every other enemy so far in 1-4 hits barely registers on their health bar.

Some things in this game are so horribly designed.

I've noticed that during a war I gain the option to send high level haters to lowbies. I also get raided constantly.

War is hell.

Haters are based on your highest grade character. So if you have a grade 4 character that's at level 5 you can be invaded by haters as high as 100 because that's the cap for grade 4's.

Once you unlock okusa and stack up a couple of shrooms, i personally wouldn't even bother unlocking the next grade of fighters until i could power level enough to combat any max level haters i might run into.

I actually bought my first grade 4 after that and leveled her to the max level. Still ~25 levels lower than that hater.

I'm thinking I must've invaded them so they were allowed to invade me as a revenge or something. Utter bullshit in any case.

syyrch: i got waisted damn got killed even equipped good :)

Some people are just heavily upgraded for their level. That or you might have targeted one of the YTYMk-#@Name or whatever guys, they're npcs that fill out the list when it doesnt find enough targets within your range at the moment. They're always fully geared in stuff appropriate for the highest tier fighters you've purchased, which is usually higher than what you have unless you've spent a fair amount of time upgrading.

That or like guppeth said, if your region is in a fight, grade restrictions are removed for expeditions. I dont really like that that's the case, i dont want to screw over new players or sit there and remove all my character's gear just because the one guy in an area i want rewards from is super low level.

Okusa is up if you like those golden snails.

Rotation changes in 40 mins, fyi, so better hurry.

Finally done farming Kawabe (for now)!

You'll be back. They always come back... Right around the time you run into stuff that takes red and other colors at the same time.

Is there an acceptable amount of damage for weapons to bring to the 40F fight? Don't wanna be stuck grinding foreverrrr.

Pretty sure i beat it with a pork chopper+ +1. Forget what the damage was on that though, you dont need ultra top tier stuff, just have some mushrooms ready.

Ack! Completely forgot about that. Lo and behold, just had a lvl 45 Hater on 1F waste me with a 3-hit combo >_< Gotta be careful.

Is there a good way to avoid getting stunlocked? Mashing roll doesn't seem to work... Some Haters seem to be able to block after the first or second hit of your combo, sometimes even getting a perfect guard. Seems a bit unbalanced, but I might be missing something.

Edit: As it is, the game should at least let us know when the conditions on a quest are failed.

Yeah, for sure. Have a UI pop out similar to the x/10 counter, along with an audio cue, or something like that. Not knowing if what you're doing is even valid makes those quests a nightmare.

Quests would be fine if they worked. Instead, they just...Don't. So many of them are nearly impossible to complete because of the way the system works.

I had farmed enough to get my Pork Chopper to +3 or so, and while it was nice, I was needing to get some upgraded armor. But to get +2 or +3 armor, I was just needing to go on endless farming runs. Despite having a really fun combat and growth system in place, I just couldn't stomach the runs anymore.

Oh, and the mushroom bitch gave me shit for like 16 consecutive stews. I ain't got time for that. Amazing game that deserves high praise, but it's absolutely not without faults.

So someone compared this song to the Mars Volta on reddit and I can't believe I haven't had it blaring in my waiting room for weeks.

We need a radio station that plays every song randomly, not just a select few. There are so many fantastic tracks that most people will never hear unless they make a point to sift through all 200+.

Yes, we do. Love hearing all this niche Japanese stuff.

However, while out and about in the Tower, I'm considering putting on my own music. I love Yamaoka's stuff in the Silent Hill games, but here it's started to really bore into me. All the industrial sounds and low rumbling bass makes the atmosphere even more oppressive, and the game even more stressful to play. I realise that's probably 100% the point, and so I do applaud the man for it, but it's high time I started livening up these grinding runs a bit, for fear of my sanity ^^;

Only issue is I won't get the shift in tempo when spotted by an enemy, and may not even get the Hater fanfare, so I'll need to be vigilant...

If anyone's doing the same, maybe we could make a shared GAF LID Spotify playlist or something?

Well... Someone decided to take revenge and attack my waiting room. Dammit. Now everything is on fire and broken lol, how do I fix it?

Nvm its all good now

it means he can get stuff, it's a must....do it all the time.
Ok, but what about all these options it presents me with? It appears as if I'm sending my fighters to take stuff from these others players? And do longer expeditions mean better items, more items, or both? Are there risks? The layout is confusing and I don't recall getting any info about it. Maybe I'll wait for a tip from the dude at the arcade haha

You're technically sending them into other player's worlds, but not to take stuff from them; only to gather in the area they're currently in. Press Triangle to see the floor map and scroll where you want them to go. A lower rank "host" means more chance you'll beat them and bring back more SPL, but don't worry too much about that. Expeditions are primarily a means of farming consumables (and random bits of worn gear).

As far as I can tell, longer expeditions potentially mean more loot. Higher floors mean potentially better loot. No real risks as long as the Fighters you send are equipped with crafted equipment (as this won't degrade).

Just try a couple of short ones to get a feel for how it works. You don't lose anything apart from base defenses; mileage of which varies depending on your Fighter rank and who decides to raid you.

Awesome, thanks for the thorough response! Great community here :)

Yay! I'm involved in my first war! Washington is kicking our ass but I'm just happy to be apart of the effort.

I still don't understand what these wars are. I get notifications that they're starting and when they finish, and often get a bunch of SPL and cash when I visit the irritating robot guy. Do I just keep playing as normal, but know I'm dealing with war-related haters; or am I supposed to stop what I'm doing and jump on a train?

you get better rewards for participating in the war at least if you're on the winning team. I'm not sure if you get anything at all if your team ends up losing.

Where can I farm golden snails again?
My memory is failing me tonight
Okusa. It's not in rotation today though.

Allow me to requote this handsome fellow here:
Yes, there is. If you are attacking and they interrupt you, your character will emote this "sweatdrops" icon and stand there taking it all like a ch(a|i|u)mp. Obviously this tends to be the case when you wanted to attack first and they were faster, which against machete wielders is a quite likely occurrence.

You should never wear armor with -% to slash in the 10-19 floors. Hell, I wouldn't wear such armor anywhere, slashing weapons are almost always the strongest. I recommend the apron or the sengoku set.

Besides that, when you face a machete wielder you should either kill it with a ranged weapon, bait them to attack first while you walk back, block their first combo and retaliate, or try a perfect block / parry. Trying to simply attack first, even with a machete yourself, is asking to be made into confetti.

Yeah. That'd definitely be one of my top suggestions of things I'd like to see. Give us a random station that plays all stations. Then let me play it in the Tower.

I had that for a while, but in the end I need a relaxed track in the lobby for relaxation. Would gladly set it to play in the tower, though.

Just fought u-10, coen and goto in one go.

U-10 and coen were pretty easy but by time i got to goto i had no more shrooms. Half way through the fight my weapons broke. Spent 5 death metals before i could widdle it down

But i'm now able to craft the katana and fire iron. hype!
