Let's Talk About PlayStation VR: List of Upcoming Titles

I think you are right. It is looking like the PSVR launch line up will not have a lot of retail games and most of them will be digital only.
I think the reason for this might be so that you can change games without taking the headset off to change discs.
I know I'll be buying all VR titles from the online store for that very reason.

Yea and this is coming from someone who's 95% retail. I see no reason to buy psvr games retail it will break my immersion getting up and switching games lol

I also think that smaller studios and indie developers are developing a lot of VR titles. I think bigger developers and publishers are waiting to see how VR pans out. I am glad that smaller developers are taking risks and innovating with VR and coming up with cool and unique experiences.

I really like how a lot of vr titles aren't trying to go for a realistic artstyle. There are quite a lot of almost Tron-like games in development and a couple that are quite different from that as well and I couldn't be more excited about it.
I mean, don't get me wrong, realism is fine and I've both enjoyed and am looking forward to some more grounded games/experiences but so far I'm much more in favour of experiencing things that are more otherworldly or 'gamey' in virtual reality. Those are much closer to what I always imagined virtual reallity would be like when reading cyberpunk stories. It's so cool to me that we're finally living in a world where reality is catching up on some of that stuff.

Also, This is old and slightly off-topic but seeing this picture of William Gibson during his first Gear VR experience always makes me smile:
williamgibson_gearvr-970-80.jpg
He was apparently quite impressed with it and that's just something that's running off a phone.

So many games coming out so quickly, I hope none of the good ones get lost in the mix. I'm probably gonna get EVE and RIGS to start with. Hope they both have retail, I'm still nervous I may want to resell so having games to go with would help a lot. I'm getting VR Worlds with the bundle. I think these seem like a pretty great launch.

I also really am looking forward to Robinson, Batman VR (yes I know it will probably just be basically a tech demo), Rez, Battlezone, Bound, and a few others. I hope Battlefront can be bought standalone.

I think they said it was Free DLC with Battlefront so, my guess is no standalone.

How many VR games have Move controls that puts your hand in the game or does something else like make your Move the gun in the game? Those are the ones I'm most interested in right now for the most immersion. I only know about Until Dawn, Far Point, and The Heist. I hope their are many more and the accuracy is good because I've read some articles that have said that the Move controller is old tech that isn't good enough for VR.

I went to try PSVR at a Best Buy yesterday with my cousin. We both enjoyed it but were left feeling a bit unsatisfied because we wanted to use our hands in the game. Not all games need it but I think their should be more of a push to have games using the Move so that we can interact in the game with our own hands. The dream game we both have in mind right now is a FPS where we can actually use our own arms to aim and shoot at each other.

I'd much rather they release it as a stand-alone, because I really have very little interest in Battlefield. lol whynotboth.gif

A Star Wars: X-Wing reboot in VR though…

I'm still amazed that as natural a fit as a star-fighter cockpit game is, there is no such game announced with a single-player campaign. I thought for sure Sony would use this as an excuse to dig up Colony Wars or G-Police, but nothing. I like EVE: Valkyrie, but I'm terrible at competitive multi-player so that game is a huge waste of money for me.

That's kind of depressing to see. Only 6 of the 50 that are supposed to come out this year and probably something like 100+ still in development? I do expect that many more will support Move and the announcement has just been held back. I just hope it's a good size number. Not all games need motion control, but for the ones that it makes sense in I want to be as immersed as possible in those games.

For example I've never been a fan of the racing genre and have no interest in GT Sport. But if I get a VR headset then I'm definitely interested in get a wheel to play with whatever racing game I might get because the experience just sounds really fun.

Oh, no doubt racing games will have wheel support which will do wonders for VR and don't worry about the list I gave you of Move supported games it just that all trade show events usually use DS4 controller so it's hard to gauge which games would support move controllers. We would have to ask each dev individually. I'm sure more games are yet to announce support for it.

Now that I remember Fruit Ninja and Harmonix VR support Move controller too. I also think HoloBall, Hustle Kings VR, Tumble VR, Golem, HoloDance and Just Dance 2017 could also support Move. It's just the devs haven't announced it or I haven't taken the time to research properly. But those are definitely hand motion tracked games. So it's possible.

Wayward Sky supports Move controllers. I'm not sure if it's Move-exclusive or not. It sorta looks that way, but when originally announced, it had you aiming with the headset and just hitting a button on the DS4 to activate stuff. I'm not clear if that's been scrapped in favor of Move, or if they support both now.

Anyway, good look from E3 here.

Yeah, that one supports move too

That game tethered probably supports move as well

No, I think that's just using the DS4 analog or headset, the circle doesn't bob or move like you are using a move.

Robinson, Kismet, and possibly Rigs for me, and Showroom VR comes free.

If/when summer lesson and ffxv are out I'll pick those up as well.

EVE Valkyrie does have some kind of single player content (source: https://www.vrfocus.com/2016/01/preview-eve-valkyrie-single-player/). Not sure how much of a campaign as opposed to PvE versions of the usual modes it is though.

Batman VR definitely has Move support, possibly even requires them. I am sure there is more.

Not sure about Farpoint though, they didn't seem to be allowed to talk about alternative control methods, or no one of the numerous testers at E3 bothered to ask about it. Maybe it will require the Aim controller and is bundled with it. That might make them both a bargain, give that to me for €60 and I'm probably in.

I had mine pre-ordered... but looking at the line-up, I'm actually thinking about canceling it and putting my extra money toward my PC vr found instead.

Has there been any talk of Windlands coming to PSVR?

It's on sale on Steam right now, and apparently it can be played with a standard controller, but it looks like it would be WAY more fun in VR. There's not a chance I'll ever have a computer that will be able to run a VR headset so PSVR is it for me, so it would be rad as hell if they brought it out but I can't seem to find any confirmations or rumors online despite some people putting it on their lists of wanted PSVR games on other forums.

You can allways try the Scavengers game in the VR World to get a taste of Vr Spaceships or the X-Wing Misson if you own battlefornt... and then If it suits you make the jump to EVE

maybe we could make a list of VR games also by category... so we all can prioritize our purchases to get the most of the launch lineup experiences, like the example I post before. just to expend as less as possible and keep the full retail price games in check for after we try something similar.

Oh, I completely forgot about tethered for some reason. That game looks like so much fun.

That was an amazing game, definitely gonna buy it!

And it has comfort mode for the people who get motion sickness with analog controls woo!

Indeed. I seem to be impervious to motion sickness as I've never experienced it (vr or in real life) but I'm in favour of games including both options.

I'm assuming it's the exact same game as on pc, in which case that game'scontent is pretty minimal. What's there is really well done though, it's my go to vr game so far.

Here They Lie looks really great on PSVR

Man... yes. The trailer looked pretty good but this has me absolutely convinced that I need to get it.

Good choices. I'm in for the bold ones. I would also love We Happy Few for PSVR. Probably not going to happen.

Probably getting these this year:

Rez Infinite
Battlezone
VR Worlds
Gran Turismo Sport
Bound
Volume: Coda
Tethered
Synthesis Universe
Robinson: The Journey
Here They Lie
Futuridium
Bound
Psychonauts: In The Rhombus Of Ruin
Super Stardust Ultra
Thumper
SUPERHYPERCUBE

Maybe:
RIGS
Until Dawn: Rush of Blood

I might double dip EVE: Valkyrie just because.

My wallet won't like me very much.

Rez Infinite is probably the game I'm most looking forward to.

No release date for Loading Human yet, right?

According to the official forums there are 4 single player modes:

Chronicles (training, AFAICT)
Recall (campaign?)
Scout (free ride through the various arenas)
Survival

Nope, sadly, recall is not a single-player campaign. All that involves is flying around in the environments from the multi-player levels, looking for recordings and playing them back for some lore.

When I say single-player, I mean like X-Wing, or Wing Commander, with actual missions and objectives. EVE doesn't offer anything like that, which is why I'm passing on it, as much as I enjoyed it in PS VR. No point paying money for a game where 3/4 of your time will be in "spectator mode" watching other people play because you got killed 10 seconds in and your team mates are yelling at you to "git gude."

A Star Wars: X-Wing reboot in VR though…

I bought Battlefront as a digital sale item for £25, at that price its a bargain (loads of fun, albeit a bit shallow) plus a VR X-wing mission.

Look out for it in the Playstation Store sales - in fact in the UK I'm sure there is an EA sale on at the moment

The problem to me is that I already own Battlefront on XBO... so 30€ for just a VR mission may be too much for me. if is good enough I would just buy a cheap primary account if they don't release a standalone version.

Also EVE will scratch that VR spaceship itch... maybe even Scavengers Odyssey (VR Worlds) could.

If they only release a full story driven VR spaships game... not just a mission, a multiplayer one or a short experience one...

I'm sure a ton of people who didn't read into it will be really disappointed that Eve's "just" a multiplayer shootout, and doesn't feature a real campaign mode whatsoever.

I know I would, if I wouldn't know ^^ Space sim is such a fantastic fit for VR and yet nobody on PS4 is doing it.

Wait what? When did this change?

CCP Games Confirm EVE Valkyrie Single Player Campaign
The standalone videogame, which is due to be published by Oculus VR in partnership with creators CCP Games is, VRFocus can confirm, to receive a specific single-player story campaign based off of the content shown within the trailer from this year’s EVE Fanfest. A demo being shown at Gamescom is based off the map that was a part of that trailer with, CCP Games confirming to us today that it will be in the final game and possess a story arc all of its own.

OK, thanks for clarifying. I'm not sure I'm in if it's purely PvP; it all comes down to price in that case.

Great news! I think this is day 1 for me, $19.99 equates to £15.99 on the UK store normally, doesn't it? Assuming no events which cause any sudden exchange rate fluctuations...

Correct that is what Amazon and PSN has dictated with digital items.

Usually that is correct on digital PSN games only but the exchange rate is higher for an unknown reason when a retail title is also available on PSN, A £5 difference.

For example:

RIGS - Retail (£49.99) / PSN (£54.99)
PSVR Worlds - Retail (£29.99) / PSN (£34.99)

Edit: Update for no double post
