Just posted this direct feed of our VR build (running 90hz on a stock PS4)

Was that a difficult task?

Visually it looks interesting. Needs a deep heartbeat and fluid pumping (without affecting your own locomotion, just the other critters sweeping past you), or some electrical system flash/shockwave running through the emptiness ;)

Still a chance to get Adr1ft on PSVR

I don't know if it's really all that good despite looking amazing - the reviews were middling at best and they ignored a lot of VR best practices which caused reports of making people sick. The Vive version might improve things however....

Rise of the Tomb Raider is getting a PSVR playable segment called "Blood Ties". As Lara, you must search your father's mansion looking for clues that serve as proof of ownership.

Edit - Beaten as I typed. These old fingers ain't fast enough no more. :(

The headband tightening looks similar to [BELL] bicycle helmet straps. The padding doesn't look absorbent which is just as well.

Raised buttons for Volume +/- while mute and standby are sunk slightly on the inline remote.

Here's a vid from the final PSVR hardware from gameblog.fr (it's in french):

Interesting for those like me, who never saw it up close yet, he's showing off pretty much every part of the device including cables, "mini PS4 box" and remote control in detail!

Interesting stuff. I didn't know there was a separate little box between the processing unit and the remote control. I like the way the PS symbols are used to show which cable goes where.

Woah they really got a retail version of PSVR they were playing with the Demo Disc included and everything.

Does anyone have any more info on the demo disc?

All I've heard about is Playroom VR (free download) and VR Worlds (included in PSVR bundle or separate download or disc purchase). I assume the demo disc is included with standalone and bundled PSVR units? The footage looked like an asymmetric multiplayer game, but not one I'm familiar with...

Yes the Demo Disc will come with all SKU's of the PSVR.

The only thing we know about the Demo Disc is that it's probably made by Japan Studio considering they have been doing a lot of internal demos.

Video GDC Demos

But the gameplay we saw on the retail PSVR video looks very polished and has gameplay mechanics something we have never seen before on the other internal demos.

It's also not part of Playroom VR which itself is a free downloadable PSVR game with 5 game modes:

Foliage and shadow rendering looks nice in that PlayRoom bots demo, especially considering it's rendering both the VR and social screen(720p) perspectives.

I loved local asymmetrical gameplay on Wii U with my friends. I think this might be one of the selling points in the long run for PS VR, especially against all those "VR is asocial" claims.

PSVR Cinematic mode detailed:

it’s revealed that that PS VR’s cinematic mode will offer three screen sizes; large, medium and small.

Large mode is the equivalent 226 inches, making it much larger than any commercial television set and bringing it in line with a movie theater.

The medium setting is the default option with 163 inches, and immerses you in a dark virtual space. The screen will fit your field of view.

The small screen might sound a little pointless at first (117 inches), but it looks as if the screen follows the user’s gaze in this case, thus allowing them to lie down etc.

Later on in the blog it’s also confirmed that PlayStation 4 and PS VR will support 360 degree images and video content, seemingly through a native app.

VR Porn confirmed :p

Nothing really new, all that was known from the first moment cinematic mode was showcased. Native 360 degree player was showcased in official screenshots, while all "tv" modes were described by Kinda Funny guys.

Some people may not listen to kinda funny, so it's always good to post some recent info :p

It doesn't say anything about a virtual theater or anything which is disappointing. What makes Oculus Theater and Netflix on the Gear VR so cool is the 3D theaters/living room that react to the light on the screen and make you feel like you're in a real place. A virtual screen with nothing behind it or around it doesn't sound as interesting.

Yeah, there isn't one for this app. But I'm sure a similar app will be available soon enough after release.

That sounds like a neat novelty, but when I'm watching a movie, I don't want to see anything else. I go to movie theaters despite the other information they put in my peripheral vision, not because of it.

This will work with any and all PS4 content, so there may be no power to spare for rendering a room. Dedicated apps like Netflix could have virtual living rooms, because they know in advance that all they need do is decode a video stream — potentially one as low as 24 fps — leaving plenty of power for rendering.

It's possible that Neo could add the ability to render some kind of environment to surround your screen with, then just have the games run in PS4 mode instead of Neo mode when doing so.

Also a valid point, but it's easy enough to dim the virtual lights. ;)

Movie theaters aren't pitch black though. In fact having low light in a room makes the colors and the black areas on screen look better and more natural.

Makes sense for games. But if I'm watching a Bluray movie there should be plenty of overhead.

For anyone that hasn't seen them, these are the VR media player shots that have been floating around fur a while.

Also, that image at the top of the UploadVR article is very interesting. Up until now, Sony have only talked about media playback via streaming and USB. This is the first time Blu-Ray has had any form of confirmation as far as I can recall. Hopefully 3D Blu-Ray will be included too.

Via Google Translate…

After the game play, experience the cinematic mode in the video content. Movie "The Walk (Blu-ray)" to watch in 2D, tried out the force.

Story this work, in 1974, at the World Trade Center, which boasted the world's best height at that time, depicting a street performer Philippe Petit that challenged the tightrope without a lifeline. In the scene across the wire stretched between the ultra-high-rise twin towers, looking up, looking down overwhelming height by the camera work, desperately of Philip to try to keep the balance tension, and suspenseful feeling transmitted to the side that is watching and I was able to enjoy in the fierce sense of realism.

The impression that compare the three-step size of, recommended large size if feel powerful in the whole body. If juggle powerful and visibility, I think that is the medium size is suitable. In any case, by cinematic mode, there is no doubt sense of realism is more to increase in viewing video content.

PS VR is, game fan as well, it will be able to be said with the latest AV equipment of attention even for movie fans.
So they explicitly say it's the 2D version, and don't mention 3D support. Hmm. I also wish they'd talk about 24p support.
