Let's Talk About PlayStation VR: List of Upcoming Titles

There seems to be some confusion around Deus Ex and its PSVR support. Square Enix are giving Sony plenty of support with Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider both getting PSVR support. I fully expect Deus Ex to get the same support with PSVR. In fact I think it's practically a lock at this point.

Consider this:

*They said the game itself is getting four VR locations to explore. Including Adam Jensen's Apartment.
*We only need look at other titles coming from Square Enix to see their massive PSVR presence.

They will deliver and it will be glorious!

I'm really curious about the FFXV VR support. They said that what we saw at E3 was just something cooked up real quick for the conference and not the actual VR content for the game. I really hope they come up with something more interesting than what has been showed.

Hey Sangetsu-II just really want to say I appreciate how detailed you made the first post.

I'm a bit nervous right now with Fall. I didn't think I would be spending a lot of money on games but PSVR seems jam packed. I hope all these games are fairly priced.

EDIT: photo fixed.

Hahaha, what? lol

I definitely need to try this game.

No problem, here to inform :p

nuggets eh? I wonder what games though.

My guess, probably the same nuggets they are showing at best buy and gamestop?

Wow, Driveclub VR being announced (formally) is mega news! It's been mia for too long. I wonder who was working on it...did Evo complete it before they were shuttered?

Hype increasing

Evo was/is still working on it. I believe they are/were still 'Evo' within Codemasters.

The same development team who made DRIVECLUB, also made DRIVECLUB VR.

Other Ocean did not contribute, nor did any other team, to its development.

Just waiting for the UK demo units to start showing up now...

I'm not sure what I think about this;I know there will be demos at EGX, but will they put demo pods in Game stores? Currys? Argos? It doesn't feel like the UK has the same strong game chains that the USA does; is Game even financially stable at the moment?

In some ways I want my first PSVR game to be played at home, where I can take my time over setup, rather than have my hype deflated by some smeary demo unit. On the other hand I'll be gutted if I suddenly find out that I get bad simulation sickness after dropping £350!

Woah they really got a retail version of PSVR they were playing with the Demo Disc included and everything.

May have solved a minor mystery. (Well, it was bugging me)

That shot is from Robot Rescue which is the 6th section of Playroom VR.

Full selection of mini-games is Robot Rescue, Mini Bots, Ghost House, Wanted, Cat & Mouse and Monster Escape.

A very long time ago, when GAME were inviting people to "register their interest" in PlayStation VR, one of the stores let slip that they would be hosting "organised demo sessions". That would appear to be the first and last mention on the subject.

I'm almost in the same boat like you, don't know yet if I want to try it out first.

In Germany, Switzerland and Austria there is a PSVR tour going on, must be something similar in the UK too, no?

One other thought on Driveclub VR: I think it's likely to be a near-full-price release (digital only?), maybe £40, £30 if you bought the full version of Driveclub. However, since it's technically a separate game rather than a patch, will it share progression with the original DC? What about trophies? I assume online multiplayer will be segregated, so it would make some sense for it to be entirely separate.

Is there a precedent for this kind of rerelease?

Was there ever confirmation of PlayRoom VR's framerate? There was that TESTED video preview a long time ago where I think they said it was full 120fps but a lot of the stuff they were saying gave the impression they were clueless.

It might be different per mini-game but it'd be interesting to get some impressions of what looks better, balancing higher frame rates versus extra multi/supersampling.

Driveclub VR will launch alongside PlayStation VR on October 13. In Japan, it will cost 4,900 yen at retail and via download.

It has since been pulled from the Japanese Blog, so take that for what it is worth as well.

As far as any details...

Great to see all the excitement and thanks for all the questions, but just be aware that I can't really answer much more right now. Hopefully in the not too distant future more details can be discussed.

I need help from PSVR GAF. I have both versions of PSVR preordered - the bundle and the standalone. I'm eventually going to cancel one of them.

I already have the camera, but I don't have any move controllers.

The bundle is $100 more. According to current US Amazon prices, the VR Worlds game and two Move controllers cost a total of $86 with the Prime discount on the Worlds game. I'd be wasting $14 for a second camera I don't need.

1) Will the Move controllers or the camera in the bundle be any different than the versions we can buy right now?

2) Is the VR Worlds game worth it? Is it something every PSVR owner should have? Killer app etc.?

3) Are the Move controllers pretty much required for the full PSVR experience on most games?

1) Exactly the same. For move controllers, some have exhibited worry about batteries from older ones.

2) I was going to pass on it, but after trying the heist thing at a demo station, I want it. I may hold off and wait for impressions from others though in terms of amount of content, because it seems to be on the light side if you consider the price tag.

3) Not most games, but the ones that will make good use of it are TOTALLY worth it. Having hands inside VR is really cool. I haven't tried it without Move yet, but I assume I would have felt something was missing if I hadn't my hands in there. My friend tried the ocean descent game and I saw him try to move his hands and I feel there could be a disconnect since you don't see your hands on the screen without the move.

Is there any video of drive club in vr? One of the selling points of drive club is its graphics. I wonder if it will get downgraded in vr compared to a full hd tv viewing.

Because i was playing project cars on vive the other day. And man does it take a hit ? The gtx 1080 cant lock it at 60 fps if u put everything on high not ultra .

And nothing worse in my eyes than anti-alasing problem. Now imagine that zoomed in VR. Its just super ugly

There are some off camera videos out there, but it does not give the full idea, since re-projecting it to a TV/Monitor will have IQ issues.

What we do know, is the lighting is no longer dynamic for it, but pre-baked I believe.

There was a tech demo in the style of PlayRoom VR where you held a controller and stood in front of a bunch of asobi robots. The controller could be changed into various stuff like a stereo sound system where the grips became sub woofers, it looked quite amusing. That one was confirmed to run in 120 FPS natively, but I doubt it is in the final product, sadly.

My guess is that the whole package runs at 60 FPS reprojected to 120 with several minigames having a separate view for asynchronous multiplayer.

The footage of Farpoint looks pretty naff. They need to do something about those flat, low-res sparks and explosions in closeups.

They probably look more impressive under the headset.

The trailer on your screen compared to what it looks like when wearing the headset difference is even bigger than it was for the 3DS 3d effect stuff.

I just saw that the psvr is bundled with headphones. Do we know anything about these headphones or should I assume theyre gonna be garbage?

I know the PSVR breakout box is supposed to provide enhanced audio. I have the PS Pulse headset and wonder just how much better it should be compared to just using the Pulse and its USB dongle. At least I have the option of using the 3.5 mm jack.

Anyways, going to try and do another PSVR testing tomorrow at an EB Games location here in Toronto. Dunno what I want to try yet... might do Ocean Descent again and this time I'll try to pay more attention to it from a graphics POV rather than getting sucked into the experience like last time.

Edit: ^^^ You need to use the 3.5mm jack on the headset to get the 3D audio, yes.

I doubt someone would viewbot a PSVR video...

?
Oh, I wasn't making any accusations or anything. lol Mostly, I just don't know how YouTube counts views, and I was wondering how many different people had actually seen it. I would assume they at least try to count unique views, but I really have no idea.

Ima say garbage but who knows maybe(garbage)

That said will the the gold wireless headset work with the headset have they said?

The gold wireless headset will work, just gotta use the 3.5 mm jack. The dongle won't work directly for the simulated surround that the breakout box makes for VR.

Battlezone, London Heist and Superhypercube are probably good candidates (from what I know is available, otherwise Robinson: The Journey is probably the most impressive). I'd probably avoid Eve Valkyrie because I heard the PS VR demo version has frame rate issues.

Great. London heist looks awesome. I'll go for that.

For those of you who have tried PSVR, I have a question.

My only VR experience is Google cardboard. It's a fun distraction but I know it's nothing like real VR. My biggest issue with it is that I can't get anything in focus. It's like I am unfocusing my eyes and I have double vision whenever I use it. With some adjustments I can make it slightly better but there is always an element of blurry double vision. Reading text is really difficult for instance.

Now reading some PSVR impressions I've heard several people complaining that the image is blurry. Is this blurriness on par with what I'm experiencing on cardboard? If it is, I don't know if I can handle this thing.

Depends, it all varies based on everyone different vision but if you can find the sweet spot it is nothing compared to google cardboard

Damn. I was hoping it was a different kind of blurry and that I would never have to worry about looking at VR worlds as though my eyes were crossed.

I've tried PSVR 4 times so far and I view the VR world the exact same way I view the normal world. No having to cross my eyes or do anything different than I normally do to see things. The first time was the only oddity, but that was because I didn't take a few seconds to properly adjust the headset, so the bottom part of the image was out of focus compared to the top half.

Text may be slightly blurry, depending on its size, but it's not a huge problem.

I tried only google cardboard and GearVR and the problem with google cardboard is the lenses. you can't actually read the text showing on the bottom of the screen and for some text you need to close one eye to read the text if you don't wanna see double... also you really can't adjust the focus on the cardboard unless you put the cardboard back not sitting on your face.

GearVr on the other hand lets you adjust the focus by puting the phone closer or far from ypur face.

Look it that way... PSVR won't look like PS4 games at all on VR. will look more like PS3 launch games

Using VR, always try not to look at the screen... just look beyond the screen

Just try Shadowrun VR with google cardboard and see if you can see it focused
