Let's Talk About PlayStation VR: List of Upcoming Titles

Damn. I was hoping it was a different kind of blurry and that I would never have to worry about looking at VR worlds as though my eyes were crossed.
I have not tried google cardboard but have tried gear VR which I assume is better than cardboard, I had a bit of cross eyed syndrome with that.

But I tried PlayStation be yesterday and felt extremely comfortable with it. I didn't feel like I was straining to look at a display, I was just looking like I do normally.

For those of you who have tried PSVR, I have a question.

My only VR experience is Google cardboard. It's a fun distraction but I know it's nothing like real VR. My biggest issue with it is that I can't get anything in focus. It's like I am unfocusing my eyes and I have double vision whenever I use it. With some adjustments I can make it slightly better but there is always an element of blurry double vision. Reading text is really difficult for instance.

Now reading some PSVR impressions I've heard several people complaining that the image is blurry. Is this blurriness on par with what I'm experiencing on cardboard? If it is, I don't know if I can handle this thing.

I've used Google Cardboard, Gear VR and PSVR. The latter for only about 15 minutes at a demo station in a local mall.

In my experience, Google Cardboard is by far the blurriest, and the least polished. It really is a toy, and shouldn't be used to decide whether or not VR is for you. It gives you a neat little taste, but that's all.

Gear VR was the real deal. The headset requires some adjustment to get a clear-ish image, but it's always slightly blurry/out of focus, and even on my best day, it feels like there's a very narrow field of view that's in focus, with the outer edges rapidly becoming increasingly blurry. It just feels like you're struggling to see clearly Farsir's "cross eyed" comment feels accurate, because it does feel like you have to strain your eyes more than you should. I hate the "smudgy eyes" feeling, so I kinda trained my eyes to... er.. discard peripheral vision as much as possible.

Using the PSVR was a revelation. The edges of the lenses are still blurry, but the field of view that's in focus is much, much larger. In comparison to my GVR, it felt like someone pulled a thin film off the lenses. General image quality, and the color depth of the screen is also greatly improved, and everything just felt a lot smoother.

A week before trying the PSVR out, I'd canceled my preorder for the headset and invested in a GTX 1070 instead. 5 minutes after trying the PSVR out, I was a believer, and preordered on the spot.

The demo I played was Battlezone. I should state that the experience wasn't entirely flawless, but the issues I came across were inconsequential enough that I don't believe they'll affect my enjoyment of games.

Recently tried out the Vive and found the screen door effect to be quite pronounced, is it any better on the PSVR?

Haven't tried Vive yet. So I can't tell for sure.

But the way I understand it.. is that PS VR has more subpixel so less screen door effect, but lower resolution, so less details.

But yeah, that's just based on my personal understanding. I didn't really notice much of a SDE trying PSVR. At least after the first few seconds.

If I get PSVR near launch, I expect that I will focus on just few games and buy much more during holiday procedrop season.

I agree with this. But it would have to be one more game than usual if they want to avoid backlash from people with no PS VR.

Couple of options for Sony here.

Firstly, it feels like they are starting to wind down PS3 support on PS+, so I can see a PS3 title being dropped.

Or perhaps a bi-monthly PS3/PSVR alternating schedule for 1 of the games.

Alternatively, there are a number of games that are playable on PS4 and PSVR. VEV, Volume, Thumper, etc would all make great PS+ candidates and keep both sides happy.

They need to have one PSVR game in the PS+ monthly free game release too.
I was actually thinking two, since it's its own platform, but that may be asking a bit much. lol

I hope so but I'm not holding my breath. If it does happen I would guess it would be a substitute for one of the two monthly PS4 games.
I think it'd need to be over and above the regular PS4 offerings, simply because not all PS4 owners have PSVR, and you can't go devaluing their subs just because they didn't buy the expensive, new toy.

I agree with this, offer games that support PS4 & PSVR instead of being PSVR exclusives. You offer one of them as one of the two PS4 offerings and avoid the backlash and create a need to own one, with the build up of PSVR supported titles people will eventually cave and buy a PSVR.

Current list of PS4 / PSVR supported games that could be offered on PS+

- Thumper
- Rez Infinite
- Bound
- Hypervoid
- Volume
- VEV
- Attractio

They already offered one title on PS+ that will have PSVR support, Futuridium EP Deluxe, so technically they can do it.

Cut the PS Vita's one game per month. Lets be honest......which games will sale more from here on? PSVR or Vita?

Nice trailer.. and yeah, poor actors.

But it's so hard to convey vr in a trailer. They're doing as good as they can I guess.

3.3m views =
3 millions PS VR will be sold in 2016 confirmed.

People will scoff at this but that helps a ton

I agree, I was just kidding around.
;)

For me, I'm having trouble deciding which demos to show off to friends/family. Like, when my brother comes over to try it, what game will I choose to wow him? That's the tougher choice I think. Right now I'm leaning The Heist or Robinson.

This guy:

Made me realize I'll have to decide what to play first once I get mine.

As weird as it is.. well now I'm in despair over this for some reason.
I was between EVE and go into space... or Robinson and go dinosaur... and I realized Robinson will also start in space... not dogfighting but will do.

Also I'm afraid that Robinson being a Crytek game will make other games worse by comparison if I try it first, but I'll take the risk

PS3 and Vita games should be dropped down the line... they should offer cross-buy PS4/Vita or PS4/PS3 in a PS4 slot for a while and give PSVR games.

Or just give 1 PS3 game, 1 Vita game, 2 PS4 and 1 PSVR

I will not look at that Batman gameplay....I'm waiting.

Anyway I am all set in regards to hardware for PSVR. My pre-order is paid for and my two Move controllers, camera and charge station arrived today. I'm ready.

I'm so torn on this. . .I preordered the second I could, but with each passing day I'm closer and closer to cancelling.

I'd love a super creepy horror, or thrilling game. . .or a Heavy Rain - but Resi Evil comes next year doesn't it. There's nothing that makes me want it NOW. :(

Here they lie looks creepy and I'm pretty sure it's this year. RE7 is January 2017, so not too far either.

Also, have you demoed it yet? If not, you should if possible. It should get you off that fence, one way or another.

Here They Lie, Paranormal Activity VR and even Until Dawn: RB can even scare someone in VR if immersed. All of them are launch games that could scratch your itch while RE7 comes around the corner.

Doesn't sound like it is going to be an add-on. I just hope they stay reasonable on the price, the original game went from €30 to €10 including season pass over the years. Full price for this would feel like rip off, even if it might not technically be unfairly priced. I'd say keep it at €40 max.
