They finally were defeated. The queen rides home tonight looking more presidential than ever.

I'm writing a psychology paper like it's a philosophy paper. Thank you a priori reasoning for teaching me how to extend myself far into bullshit country, on the flimsiest bamboo pole, without every having to actually touch the ground. It's the only way these assignments are actually fun. Here are these premises that let me talk about what I really want to talk about, and it's fine because I can go "A leads to B leads to C". Screw doing actual science/data collection (or really as little as possible, it is a psyc paper).

School is kind of fun when you know exactly the level of freedom that you can get away with, like exactly what the expectations are at certain level of academia and what can qualify you for a good mark by any general standard. IMO the only fun part of writing assignments is the actual writing part, so let me link my thoughts together in a structurally interesting way towards my conclusion so I can talk about this topic without having to read a lot of shit because reading studies is dreadful and I don't know how anyone wants to do it.

I'm looking at youtube comments and facebook posts and many are saying that Hillary is still a crook and a criminal who shouldn't run for president, and how Bernie will wipe the floor with her come the primaries.

This is the younger generation, I'm assuming they're mostly millennials who support Bernie over Hillary.

It's just anti-climatic.

It's thing like this:
Random Internet Comment from Bernie Supporter #991 said:
Trump works for Hillary, if you want Trump support Sanders because otherwise that reality TV star will give the Presidency to his "good friend" Hillary Clinton, and nobody wants that!
FEEL THE BERN MOTHERFUCKER!

I'm a registered independent, but plan to register Democrat tomorrow so I can vote in the Florida primary. I plan to do my part to ensure Bernie Sanders doesn't get the party nomination not because I don't think he'd make a good President, but because he's an unacceptable option to run for President due to low information voters in this country. If he were to run for President on the Democratic ticket, he would easily be trounced by a non-stop barrage of "he's a socialist" adverts all the way to election day. The moment Anderson Cooper asked him if he was a capitalist and Bernie didn't answer "yes" was the moment I groaned and knew he had zero chance of being President.

I've always wondered what does registration means in the US, I guess it gives you access to some things, but its not like you can't vote outside the party you registered with, I guess?. The concept is a bit odd to me.

Allows you to vote in primaries is the big one. Get to influence who your party of choice's nominee will be for the presidential election.

In most states, one has to register with a specific party in order to vote in a primary. It doesn't affect who they can vote for in the regular election.

Thanks. School is more fun when you know how to school, I feel like I know enough about Philosophy, Psychology, and Religious Studies to take a specific route through all of those degrees because I know exactly what interests me in all of them. I'm not sure why that idea appeals to me exactly (because "well rounded education" I guess? lol). I kind of like the idea of being a three tentacled monster, but academia really isn't that cool, so double lol.

Interest is the only thing that can carry me through a course. A mild thirst for knowledge is the fastest and strongest horse I have to harness when it comes to 'achievement'. Well I guess the desire to not die is a bit stronger, but yeah. I secretly hope this is more common for people who succeed in academia, so I can keep academia somewhere in my back pocket if I decide to loath myself that much :p

I did psychology at uni (bachelor's degree) and it was all about citing sources for everything.

You are mostly right, but psychology is weird. I really liked personality psychology, and there you're just applying theories with their own internal logic and rules to try to glean an understanding of personalities and their problems. And it's empirical in the sense that the systems are formed from some kind of observation of people, and are being applied on people with mind towards somewhat reproducible results or something. And in the end there's basically the aphorism that 'different theories are useful in different contexts'. There's like this hilarious agnosticism about applying these theories to cases, because you're just switching out your cognitive 'lens', it's so theoretical which means you only need potent enough examples of the right 'kinds' of evidence. And there's like there's an art and a science to applying these theories appropriately. That kind of stuff is fun.

If it's cognitive or neuropsych, I'll just make it about meditation. When you know exactly the topic you want to study and why, school seems so much easier, because it seems to reward you if you have a degree of passion or incisiveness into anything. It makes for a more interesting paper, after all, trying to be simultaneously novel and yet not-dumb has it over a common retread, at least if we're talking bachelors degrees. I have a phenomenological understanding of meditation practice, and am familiar with quite a bit of literature and terminology on that end, and the brain studies that I have looked into independently have had to do with meditation. I even have some experience trying to use EEG neurofeedback as a meditative tool (basically bridging 'neurotherapy' and meditation), and that's novel as hell. Being a nerd about very specific things pays off. Or rather if it doesn't I'm screwed because that's all I have.

TL;DR this is nerdy as hell but I'm starting to appreciate how I can 'hack' academia to do the work I want it to do for me (or by cooperating, I guess). That seems like it might even be the benefit of all of it, because it's skillz.

I totally get that because I'm the same way. With luck, your interests will guide you to a satisfying and meaningful specialty, or help you to create your own niche. Sounds like you're on the right track.

I'm bummed I haven't had the time to watch Hillary's hearing. I don't know if I can withstand the Republicans and their expected antics but maybe it's worth it for the gif potential.

[edit]

O lord, it's 11 hours long and the video is 8.8 GB.

Can't believe Halloween is next week! I'm super excited to wear my Star Lord costume. Have a party I'm doing at work, at my place, handing out candy and then doing Fright Fest all next week/weekend. Gonna be great!

When I was prescribed Accutane, the doctor made me sign up the iPledge, which basically you acknowledge that while on accutane you shouldn't get pregnant for it causes birth defects. Even guys have to sign it.

Anyways, I got a mail from the iPledge foundation and apparently I have to sign up for it or something. They gave me an ID and password for their site. "Committed to Pregnancy Prevention" hmmm but I'm a male and I don't swing that way either... lol

I don't think mpreg is a thing yet, or is it? O:

I find the whole thing funny.

I really hope more people vote during midterm elections so that things can get done. I'm amazed that Obama's been able to anything significant with such a political standstill.

This Planned Parenthood nonsense is such a sham.

[edit] The 9GB video just downloaded. I don't think Photoshop will be able to handle such a large file size. Maybe I'll watch it via Premier and render the clips that are interesting.
