I woke up today and realized I was 22 already.

Well shit, where has time gone by...

I realized yesterday that I'm officially in my mid-20s. Then I thought, "That can't be right..." but I realized indeed it was. Now, for Christmas, instead of asking Santa for what I want, I feel like I should be asking for what I need, such as an urn to carry my ashes.

Like, because you're LGBT they think that's all you care about, and that should determine everything.

Plus, I hate the whole "minorities" thing going around lately. I have been increasingly becoming annoyed with that term. Like, "Well, minorities do not like candidate X" "If you were a minority, you would think otherwise and vote my way"

Shut the fuck up.

Woo, it's annoying. Especially when people who are not "minorities" say that shit. Fuck that term. I'm never using it from here on out tbh. "Minorities" is a catch-all exclusionary term that is completely ignorant to the complexities of human difference and uniqueness.
No, it's simply a term used to refer to a large group of people that are not the largest demographic in a population. The reasons for using said term are too numerous to count, but I would imagine it rarely has anything to do with this idea that people are unaware that human beings are complex and unique from one another. Replace "minorities" with "Democrats". Or how about "community"? Or "family"? Any term that throws individuals into a pair, trio, group, or anything else is going to "ignore" the complexities of human difference and uniqueness.

You see, there is a very finite amount of time and an awful lot of ground to cover. I don't know you. I know your username on NeoGAF is Geo and you're part of the LGBT community. You're not really into white dudes and you participate in a lot of threads on this forum. But beyond that? Do I really need to have a complete, in-depth conversation to learn everything about you before I deign to reference you in some fashion in any future discussion?

When discussing anything on a large scale, we human beings like to categorize and group things when possible. It isn't born of ignorance, it's born of convenience. I don't dispute that categorization can dehumanize individuals and that people can be incredibly patronizing when they're talking about a category of individuals. But the very notion of ditching categorical words like "minority" is patently absurd. I mean, go right ahead if you want. But if you think typing out "individuals who are not in the majority demographic" instead of just saying "minorities" is a more productive use of your time, then more power to you.

The folks who use LGBT issues when talking to LGBT individuals on who to vote for assume that LGBT issues are central to our concerns. Is it an incorrect assumption? Maybe! But again, they don't have time to get to know you and everything about you, just as you haven't taken the time to get to know everything about them. And why? There are too many games to play, too many things to read, so much music to listen to, so many things to discuss. And so we're going to talk about people in terms of groups.

Ok so one date with this dude and he's already sending texts like "hope you had a nice day at work. *kiss*"

That's like... crazy right?

How's that crazy?

hot men/hot women threads are pretty much banned here on gaf. i don't think the mods take issue with our 'hot people posts' at the top of each page, but i'm pretty sure the thread devolving into pictures of just hot people won't be okay :x

Yes no doubt. But it seems... too nice? Idk it felt odd for someone I barely knew to be texting me stuff like that. Or maybe I feel guilty because this guy must like me x10 more than I like him.

I think this most recent post (and the one you had previously about this) are signs of exactly what you wrote: you see his actions as a sign that you have different levels of investment. Of course, some people use terms of endearment and certain words more often than others—there's a chance he actually has the same level of investment but simply expresses it differently. What I would suggest is continue acting as you'd like to act at this point and if he eventually makes a clear sign that he's more invested in it than you, say something like, "I think I'm moving at a different speed than you in this relationship. I like you, but I want to take it slow."

Well I woke up and realized I have to change some things around.

Same.

Thanks kirby. I do appreciate this advice.

I just watched a let's play of a game called Fragments of Him and wow it was garbage. It's the "bury your gays" trope but the twist is that the whole game is just two straight women complaining about someone being gay. jesus christ

just let me know when you're eager to get [censored]
:l i'll never forget that pokemon battle

Last week iw as talking with a friend about the new changes at our workplace for June, and then I started thinking "man, almost half a year... and then 3 months to my birthday... omg.. i'm gonna be 26...damn"

I barely have strong memories of this year, nothing "special" or "incredible" happened to me, just work, and more work...

Funny thing was that a friend wanted tacos but she's a vegan and there's this place nearby that makes tacos with nopales but it's closed already!

:(

Delicious nopales, I usually eat "carne asada" tacos, which is just red meat with avocado, pico de gallo, salsa and lemon, or some quesadillas with avocado and ham, or a "sincronizada" which is basically a quesadilla but in "sandwich form", with ham, chorizo, meat and avocado.

damn... now I need tacos.... it's almost 9 pm here, and it's not raining anymore so I might as well go on a quest for the perfect taco.

My Vita's getting a lot of love. Odin Sphere: Leifthraser in two days. Grand Kingdom two weeks later. God Eater Resurrection and Zero Escape a week after. That'll keep me occupied until September when God Eater 2 and Trails of Cold Steel 2 show up.

Nice! Friends decided we're gonna go eat tacos tomorrow, not as good as real Mexican tacos from Mexico but still decent! lol

My June bimes will definitely be at least Atelier Sophie and Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter.

I'll maybe get Odin Sphere, Star Ocean and Tokyo Mirage Sessions.

I didn't play more than 2 hours of Virtue's Last Reward.

No no no sistren. And I'm surprised people would actually devote this much time, but cool I guess.

Like, "if you were a minority, you would care a lot more about this election!" "minorities don't have the luxury of not voting for X"

Well, what do you mean by "minorities" exactly?

Racial? Sexual orientation? Gender? Class? Sex? Age? etc.?

Are they attempting to falsely state that a Chinese-American cisgender straight man who has lived in this country for 50+ years ("minority") and an Agender Asexual Black person who is a recent immigrant from Angola ("minority") are going to have the same perceptions and should therefore vote in the same way? A MESS.

It's lazy and basic in most if not all cases, so why bother using it at all? Talk about the specific experience of a more specific group of people if you want to lump people together. At least have your comparative group be BALANCED (at the same level). Whenever one discusses, obviously some of those broad strokes must be used, but a lot of people talk about the white majority and "minorities" and that's it. Granted, there is a lot of diversity within "the majority" itself, but not at the level of "minorities." Also, the term is very US-centric in a very globalized world, but that's a whole other topic.
Considering your double mini-rants about LGBT voting and presidential candidates, I was pretty much under the impression that in context, the word "minorities" was essentially a placeholder for LGBT. But hey.
