Hey everyone, let's talk about anime porn and math! =)

Let's ditch the anime porn and just talk about math.

I've Applications of Differential Equations, Mathematical Analysis, Calculus, and Statistical Modelling coming up this semester, having had Scientific Enquiry (a group project; I was in the 'Maths' section of it and the project's topic was examining the optimal way of learning and teaching Maths in relation to the Leaving Certificate), Linear Algebra, Applied Maths: Mechanics and Methods, and Numbers and Functions (proof by induction and contradiction, pigeonhole principle, Euclid's division Algorithm, properties of primes, well-ordering principle, modular arithmetic, Fermat's Little Theorem, Euler's Theorem, Chinese Remainder Theorem, properties of primes, and introduction to fields, groups, and rings), which was by far my favourite, last semester. Hopefully the four this semester are as good as Numbers and Functions was, but given that I don't like Statistics I'm not optimistic about it.

My friend sent me a dick-pic and I'm not sure how feel about that.

Perhaps he meant to send it to somebody else?

someone on facebook is talking to me about math

send anime porn :|
Ha

That's fantastic.

Yeah, having a mutual attraction to someone doesn't take away the fact that the glaring differences in your personalities can make or break you. Too many times I've fallen for someone mutually then having to realize that the reason I fell for them is only a small portion of a giant pie of incompatibility, lol. Also, I tend to fall for people because I like "idea" of liking them more than I actually like them. I hope you guys hash things out so that you're on at least friendly terms, but this could be the universe telling us that some people make more compatible sense on paper than in practice. Now I just need to be more aware of the difference so that I don't end up hurting myself/other people.
Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with you. Compatibility, beyond a surface level of similar interests and humor, is incredibly important to a healthy, long term relationship.

Aww, but what about the anime porn? =(

Yeah though, the stuff in your "Numbers and Functions" course sounds fun.

The rest of it, ah, it's alright.
It's funny seeing engineers panicking over Differential Equations though, since that wasn't really all that bad.

Wow this sounds disgusting

This year I'm doing vector calculus, numerical methods, mathematical physics, differential equations and fourier series, algebra and number theory, complex functions, mathematical analysis and modelling within differential equations

I feel bad that I was taught most of those things (math classes in Informatics faculty) and I was good at it... but right now, 5 years after I finished my studies, I hardly remember anything. :|

I have a Bachelor's in it, but I couldn't do a fraction of it anymore >.>

Math scares me. I avoid it like the plague.

Hmm, I can't really comment on most of this as I've not done it yet, but the Algebra and Number Theory one sounds pretty enjoyable (while Vector Calculus does not). I'd definitely like to do more relating to Number Theory in general, particularly arithmetic combinatorics, so if that's a topic that interests you hopefully it'll be rather enjoyable.

What I have is not too nasty overall though (or at least not as bad as it sounds) as the first semester was pretty easy overall (I have more modules than I listed in the previous post as I've six each semester, but they're the Maths ones; two of my others are physics related (Foundations of Physics, and Frontiers of Physics which introduces Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity) and two are Computer Science (Intro to Programming 1 and 2) related because in first year in my university, in the science course, you aren't able to specialise just yet). Two of my six I'd already done to a high standard for the Leaving Cert (Applied Maths and Foundations of Physics) and were thus extremely easy, one of the other four was easy but time consuming (Scientific Enquiry because some members of my group did very little), and the three left (Intro to Programming, Linear Algebra, and Numbers and Functions) had substantial amounts of continuous assessment (and your GPA only comes from your results in third and fourth year, so first and second year you only need passing grades) and Programming was the only one I'd found challenging (mainly because I absolutely detest it; I've Intro to Programming 2 next semester and am very much going to swap it for anything else, probably for "Groups, Rings, and Fields"). As such, if Semester 2 is nasty, it's not so bad given that it makes up for an easy first semester which only had three modules of new content.

Yeah though, the stuff in your "Numbers and Functions" course sounds fun.

It helped that the lecturer was absolutely fantastic as well, and had 60% of the course as continuous assessment, making it extremely easy to do well if you connected with the material (in saying that though, it seems that many people did not as many found it challenging; fortunately I was not one of those people, probably because I loved the module). With both the lecturer and content of the course, it really was quite fun, even if it isn't as difficult as stuff that certainly will come later.

And the most confusing. So Terri, you like math? O:

Are you trying to tell us this is confusing :p!?

(It's actually not really that bad if you know what the notation means though)

The best kind of math hardly even involves numbers at all!
Day9 after saying three halves equal two:
'I actually do have a math degree [...] but that's fine, I deal with letters not numbers.'

I hated it, I could no longer brute force stuff. The good thing was I knew I did something wrong when the answer wasn't 1 or 0.

Looking into it after the whole "how DARE you sexualize males" fiasco, this character design for that smartphone Final Fantasy game is amazing. Ridiculous, but amazing.

It's always funny how the armor in rpgs are :D Like you'd get sliced to BITS.

Would it be such an "issue" if the guy would be shirtless? There have been plenty of shirtless designs, but somehow this is more "sexualized".

The idea is amazing, the reality not so much IMO.

I freaking LOVE sexy male armor, but this particular design is extremely unfortunate.

I don't think he's sexy anyway. I guess it's because his hair is like an early 00s pop group singer from Europe, his hair and skin tones make one another look like an odd pairing, and it looks like his waxing game too strong trying to get in that ladies jumpsuit. He is just not my type, for sure.
