Lightning Returns Final Fantasy 13 E3 2013 Gameplay Demo

Every outfit has a different pose. So no, that depends you on. Also outfits seem to not give any stats change but are there only as accessories. Just play with your favorite costume (mine is her standard's one) and you'll be ok. They're not forcing you into liking every outfit, they're just giving you 100 pieces of clothes for you to have fun creating your own perfect Lightning.

Nomura though already chose for me.

I thought the clothes were tied to abilities? Either way really, 100 is more than enough for everyone to find something I'm sure.

Phew! Perfect! Thanks!

I don't think there's anything official about this, but when I heard 100+ outfits available I can't imagine all them to have special abilities. 100+ Jobs with 4 abilities each? It could be but... that would be an huge amount of work for the team. Balacing especially. That's why I think for the most clothes are just clothes.

For sure you can set the outfit you want during the field sections. And I can't imagine her confronting Lumina in a violet elegant dress, lol ~

BTW Toriyama yesterday said we can expect more of Lightning's past in this third installment. They're trying to portrait her more like an human person this time, hopefully they can inject some background story in her considering she completely lacks one.

While the game lacks polish, they really knocked it out of the park with the monster designs. Pretty darn cool.

While the game lacks polish,

DEMO looks very polished to me. More than everything seen in the final version of its prequel. And we're months away from the release, usually this stuff is taken care of toward the end of dev. It'll be the most polished FF to date, like promised one year ago.

Watched the full demo. It looks pretty good, battle system seems great, UI looks like utter shit honestly... Enviroments looks great but hoping for less corridors.

Maybe I should complete FXXIII first....

Yeah, that's what I immediately thought, too. This picture is even closer, see the colors on his and her sleeve stripes? And the purple waist sash thing, and the purple bracelets? This is definitely another "legacy" outfit like the Yuna costume. I wonder what others there will be?

It's kind of weird to see a Nomura character in Amano clothes, but it makes me wish they'd make a totally Amano FF with today's tech.

haha, wow. And people thought that was a horrible design. That's really, really funny now.

Nice find though. I didn't recognize it at all.

Finally got time to take a look at the off cam gameplay video posted in the thread, and the game looked much better in it to me than it did in the official one. The gameplay too, seems pretty fun with the quick actions and quick changes.
One of the things I like the most out of it though, is the animation for Light's dress when she's not fighting. The way it moves while she's running is kinda cool.

Anyways, I'm even more hyped for this.

That demo footage is just amazing. I am not sure what I am more excited about. LR, XIV or XV. Square Enix is truly a flawless company.

Well let's not get ahead of ourselves here. I'm excited as fuck for all three as well but they did some duds here and there.

The music has some hints of nostalgia and the gameplay looks fun enough. I just hope that the story has some structure to it and doesn't drag on like the first game. Slogging through FFXIII-2 comes first...

I hope the story is more focused because in the first half of XIII-2 all you had to do was solving quests and listen to Mog. LR has the advantage of being the final part of a trilogy, so story-wise should play it easy with alot of content. Even though the complete freedom they want to give players will probably lock every part of story to a specific isolated continent and progress only from time to time. Probably for every continent we have to set free one of our friends' soul, so the focus will be on character development, while probably around the half of the game and toward the end we'll see a story progress not related to these characters. Let's just hope the interactions with Snow & co. are enough to keep the story interesting until further developments.

Played this at E3 and must say I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Combat was really fun and interactive. On 360 it performed kind of not so great and didn't look amazing, on PS3 it was much nicer, framerate was greatly improved. I had pretty much written off the XIII stuff as trash after XIII-2, but this could be fun. Still don't give two fucks about the asinine story, though.

The pose seems really at odds with the way Lightning acted in XIII, though. Like, I legit can't imagine that pissed off, rage against the heavens Lightning would strike this kind of pose.

Yeah... when I saw that on the show floor... smh big time.

You can beat XIII-2 in 20 hours so its not too bad. The fragment hunts can get really addicting as well as building a good monster team. Still, check a few guides for optimal builds and get cracking. Game only really gets hard in the final episode and you should really think of using Tortoise (3 x sen) for the final bosses.

Each outfit gets a unique pose? That is rad.

Please let there be an outfit that gets Lightning to do a Bayonetta split leg pose (the one where she's lying on her side, left leg parallel to the ground with her right leg on a 90 degree angle, I want fireworks and everything)

So E3 is over and I'm really disappointed with the amount of footage we got to see. I expected a gameplay demonstration with tons of info. I haven't seen shit yet...

That playtime doesn't sound so bad then. I saw it on sale today, might have to pick it up. With the game coming out in February there's plenty of time to catch up.

Snow reveal, new song released on iTunes, more in depth look at the battle system, and a quick look at one area and a boss fight (pretty much like the XIII-2 E3 demo). Then more costumes revealed afterwards.

I'm always down to see more, but they showed off a decent amount.

Hey, I said it first ; ;

Though it does bear some similarity with Faris' outfit too.

th

Nice catch! I think it's gotta be Locke from the look of it.

Can't wait to see what other legacy stuff they have in mind. Honestly, a really fun idea. Would be even more amazing if they had some legacy attacks to go with it!

I like the dress system

I like that blocking is now fully possible ( with counter it seems )
I don't like that fact that some lightning poses are so fanservice but i don't mind as long as they explain everything in the plot in this game.

"The Garb possesses the wearer and hence now Lightning is channeling the previous owner of this outfit, forcing her to pose sexily."

Can't find a thread for this nor any links here, unless I'm really dumb.

Unfortunately we can't hear anything from the soundtrack without a proper direct-feed. I wonder how many tracks are featured (battle theme, dungeon, boss theme I guess) and if are any good (probably).
