Wanna hear an uplifting/happy story?
Today Sega announced the overall winner of the audition for a part in Like a Dragon/Yakuza 8, and it's Kson. She's a Youtuber and Vtuber (one of the few popular ones who also shows her real self) and a massive Yakuza fan. What makes this even more perfect is the worst-kept secret that she's the performer behind Kiryu Coco, a popular HoloLive Vtuber who was forced to retire after Chinese users boycotted her and Chinese outlets banned her for mentioning Taiwan in passing as its own country on a livestream.
She'll play the "madonna" of an establishment where the protagonists (Kazuma Kiryu and Ichiban Kasuga) and their friends gather. She'll also appear in Gaiden, albeit that's a smaller live-action role as a cabaret club hostess. In 8 she's a full-fledged character with her 3D model voiced by her. She's bilingual, so she'll likely voice her character in English as well.
This is what I call poetic justice. Also, really ballsy move by Sega, considering that Chinese crybabies will probably not like it at all.
