I loved this show, it had a unique feeling to it. It has a somewhat comical and rather enjoyable finally. Can't wait for the second season. With the exception of Derek i've really been digging all of the Netflix originals.

‘Lilyhammer’ Nearing Season 3 Order

Fish-out-of-water dramedy Lilyhammer is closing in on a greenlight for a third season. I understand that Norwegian broadcaster NRK is in the final stages of negotiations with producer Rubicon TV in a scenario that would see Netflix remain the U.S. broadcaster, with Red Arrow as the international distributor. I’m cautioned that nothing is confirmed, but Netflix, which was partnered on the first two series, has a deal in place for additional seasons. If S3 goes ahead, it is expected it would run on the streaming service in the U.S.

So this show is good or what? I've been waiting for anything since the walking dead ended last week or the week before can't remember.

Loved the first season. Noticed today the second one finally dropped. Can't wait to watch all the eps.

Lilyhammer seems to be the most underrated of all the Netflix Shows. But it may also be the best next to House of Cards.

Just finished episode 2...and while I've enjoyed both episodes, I can't for the life of me remember what happened during season one. Didn't Sigrid have a son? Wasn't there another cop guy? I feel like I missed an episode in between seasons or something.

I just finished season one. It's pretty entertaining...not quite what I expected but I'm ready to see what comes about in S2. I'm really not a fan of the mafia shtick, it's more the interactions with the locals that I find more comical. Hard not to feel bad for
the unemployment office perv
at the end.

Sigrid's son (Jonas) gets kidnapped by the two guys that came for Johnny and later escapes. If you're talking about the female cop's assistant Geir, he was shot to death while on vacation in NYC after he stumbled upon Johnny's identity. The female cop finds Johnny and the surviving mobster covering a fresh grave, and upon learning that the grave's occupant was the one who killed Geir, decides to let them both go.

Bump!

Finished ep 2. One of the shows best. The new characters are just so well layered. This odd show is just an awesome treat for the holidays.

^ So did I (sick at home today). It's losing me pretty fast. I liked the immigrant angle in S1, but between the
Indian call center/hacker and the opera singing Nigerian, plus the whole freighting the immigration official off to Africa bit
it's starting to be a bit much for me. I liked seeing Bricktop again, so I'll probably finish S2 anyway just to see where that arc goes.

Yes, this is the best part of the show, the whole fish out of water angle. I'm fine with the Mafia thing, but I love it for those parts. Season one did have more of that than season two, but the second season still has a good amount of it thankfully.

Netflix has been teasing me for the past week with posting "Season 2". Glad to know I can finally watch it. Been missing this!

So after escaping the guys who were after Johnny, what happened to him? He was present in most of the episodes of season one if I recall correctly, so it's a bit odd that he hasn't made a single appearance in season two yet (I have two episodes left).

Ah, I totally forgot about that. Thanks for the recap. :D

I guess the writers dropped that plot line because of the break-up at the end of S1. Sigrid probably made him go live with his real father in Oslo, but they never spell it out for us.

Hot damn, that season finale was fantastic! Series best episode for sure. Loved the
Glee and Sopranos
references. I hope they pick this up for a third season.

Season 2 episode 8:
He finally made a brief appearance in the final episode of the season. It felt very random though - they made it seem like he's been living with Sigrid all along - and I'm not even sure if it was the same actor.

I watched all of season 1 despite never finding it more than average and a little tonally inconsistent. One thing that the show does well is including something in the last minute or so of each episode to make you want to keep watching. The ending of S2E1 was great, but I'm just hesitant to keep watching since season 1 never got better for me.

For those that have season both seasons, is 2 better?

Eh, yeah, seemed like they just shoehorned him in for appearances sake. Looked like the same kid after he hit his growth spurt.

Just finished S2. I didn't like the way it was headed early on but it gets better.
Best part was Togeir falling off the high dive, and goddamn, Jan is so clueless.
I think I liked S1 more but that's not to say you won't like the follow-up. Wonder where S3 is headed at this point.

Producers confirm third season of ‘Lilyhammer’

Fans of the hit Norwegian TV show “Lilyhammer” can count on another season next fall. State broadcaster NRK and Rubicon confirmed that production was underway after agreeing with Netflix on a big new budget.

Newspaper Dagsavisen said the third season of the dramatic comedy starring Steven Van Zandt has a budget of NOK 120 million (USD 20 million), double that of its last season and allowing for more international cast members and more travel. The budget makes it the biggest TV series ever produced in Norway.

Great news! :)

Something that didn't really sit well with me was how none of the new storylines or characters ended up amounting to much. The stuff with the
Brits sort of just petered out, Roar and Torgier's mom was there one second and gone the next, the gay chef pretty much stopped existing after he tried to kiss Torgier (and Torgier's budding gay curiosity was nipped before anything could come of it), the badass police woman was a badass in a few scenes and then vanished after accepting the box of stolen material from Johnny, the Indian call center guy was only in like two scenes, Sigrid's creepy swim teacher/milk drinker boyfriend storyline was underdeveloped, etc.
It just seems like instead of expanding the world of Lilyhammer, they decided to focus more intensely on a portion of the small group they had established in the first season, with several of the prominent characters being written out such as
Jonas and Laila and to an extent, Sigrid.

I think I liked S1 more but that's not to say you won't like the follow-up.

Me too. I liked season S1 more overall but S2 was definitely enjoyable and had some really fantastic moments throughout.

I really enjoyed watching these 2 seasons, but now that that's out of the way, let's discuss how ridiculous and borderline bad this show actually is. Its writing is so odd and sloppy. In the first season, every episode was just full of complete coincidences that are impossible to believe. That's not a huge complaint as I actually enjoyed the first season more than the second, but convenience is king in season one.

I was almost enjoying the show in a serious way until the last episode of the first season. Then, they did the Home Alone segments and the cartoon mobster bad guys. I laughed through the whole episode, and looked forward to continuing to laugh at the show in season 2. If season one's motto was "convenience is king" then season two's motto must be "create a ton of characters without any idea what to do with them." The entire season felt so disjointed, as if they had written or filmed episodes that were suddenly scrapped.

The Sopranos references were awful too. I mean first we see his Sopranos wife on the phone and it's almost slightly fun and clever that they'd use her like they did in this show. But that wasn't obvious enough. They actually had to have her say, "It'll be like an episode of The Sopranos!" out loud. Because hey, the audience may be too fucking stupid to know what they're watching. But that wasn't enough. We have to crowbar that theme song into the show too! Do they know yet? Do the morons watching realize yet that we are making Sopranos references? Well, we're not sure, so let's throw Pauly into the episode as well. They'll get it then!

Can't wait!

My wife went to Norway earlier this year to visit her former college roommate who moved their from the States after she graduated. She took my wife to Lillihammer and they found the outside of the club, and they went to the Olympic Ski Slope.

Also, the roommate became a teacher over there-and the boy who played Sigrid's son was her student!

I didn't know it was tomorrow.

I really like the show. Netflix is not really pushing it from what I can tell. Looking forward to it.

Watched the first two episodes of season 3. Pretty good so far. I liked all of the scenes in Rio and the contrast they provided to all of the snowy scenes in Lilyhammer. I'm also glad to see the cop woman from season 1 return as a main character.

I saw the first two new episodes. Again, I really like this show. Too bad it doesn't get more love. People are missing out.

This is a really solid show, been looking forward to the new season. Will probably start it in a couple days. More people should check it out.

Watched it over the weekend. Still a good show

Her story
didn't really go anywhere. Shame

I watched the first episode of the new season on Friday, I need to make time to watch the rest.
What was the name of the pre-school teacher that Johnny hooked up with in the second season?

Fan-fucking-tastic new season. Only trouble I have with the show is that they seem way too attached to their characters. Reoccurring characters is a good thing but they have to go somewhere with it, too many times do people show up and take focus only to have it fizzle out into nothing.

Already finished S3. I enjoyed it a lot more than S2.

1 > 3 > 2

It sucks that
Torgeir is not coming back to the show
. I will also
miss Jan, even though he was crazy, I am surprised they axed him like that. He was such a funny character.
With
both of them being out of S4, it's going to be hard to replace them; they added a lot to the show.

My main gripe outside of
Torgeir leaving
this season:
it became clear to me that during the final couple episodes, they were running out of time to wrap everything up. Season 3 would have benefited from an extra couple episodes. They were dealing with too much stuff in a short span of time.

You think there'll be a season 4?

Why wouldn't there be? I doubt its taking up an obscene amount of his time and seeing how involved he has been the last two seasons I'll reckon he is too invested to give up on it. He even spent 6 months just scoring the season.

Just seemed like everything wrapped up, especially with the after credits scene.

Yeah, one of the worst things about the show is that a lot of the characters/storylines just kind of...fizzle out or don't really go anywhere. I honestly thought the woman cop was going to be a bigger part of the season but she just randomly disappeared (after randomly reappearing) after that one episode.

Also, I felt like they could have done a better job reintroducing some of the characters - like Sigrid's dad or the self help author dude - I couldn't remember either of them so their storylines lost some of their impact for me.

Are we sure that (end of season spoiler)
Torgeir isn't coming back? The bit at the end, where he hallucinated the old British man, suggests that his story isn't over.

I was also surprised they killed off Jan in the manner they did. Very dark for this show.
