Limited Run Games - Putting digital games into your hands

Colloquial, but someone on another forum I talk to is really miffed that they said the original run was limited and now they've done a second.

I know it's separately numbered and all, but still. Personally doesn't bother me. I'm holding out for a reprint of the Vita version anyway.
How much do you guys expect the previous print to lose in value? Do people care enough about what cover art a game has for it to maintain most of its value?

I say none.
People weren't paying exorbitant values to open and play it.

It's still special with unique art.

I bought the first physical version of Retro City Rampage DX both for PS4 and Vita. Would make no sense to buy it yet again. I assume most people who wanted a physical copy have one already. So of course there is less interest now.

Furthermore, I can absolutely understand why some are angry: Promising not to do another print run and then doing another print run is a really shitty thing to do. Imagine you paid a high price for a copy on the secondary market because you believed the developers who said there would be no more, and the next thing they do is start selling a new and unlimited edition. "This re-release boasts brand new cover art, disc art and a manual, easily distinguishing it from the original. Owners of the 2014 copy can rest easy, knowing it remains as rare as it always was." Sure, buddy, this won't influence the value of the original at all. And Dolan Drumpf is a respectable businessman who would make a fine president.

Pretty much my exact thoughts

Posted this on our site forums but just want to be certain it is echoed here: take solace in knowing we will not reprint our games.

I want to be very clear to anyone who may be confused - RCR was not released by us. We don't, and will not, reprint our releases. In fact, we lose any legal right to print past games once they've sold out. All the rights revert back to our developers.

There is a very real inventory risk in open editions and reprints of smaller titles. Eventually you'll saturate demand and you'll be left with piles of unsaleable games.

Hey LRG, just out of curiosity are games that have an Asian English release not going to be considered? People in this thread have pointed out that some of the requested games already have an English release through an Asian or Japanese version*, and I was just curious if this is because you guys have a policy against it?

Not that I'm asking you to confirm any game releases or anything, I just want to know if anything with Asian English release is already off the table?

*I have a few reasons for wanting to order through LRG vs ordering from PA/Amazon JP/AmiAmi or anywhere else. Anytime I've bought something from PA it would sit in Canadian customs for like six weeks+, paying for faster shipping usually meant paying duties, the low CAD can sometimes make faster shipping methods more expensive and I also just like having an NA collection with as few imports as possible. I'll import if I absolutely have to, but usually I don't find it's worth the hassle and I haven't had to deal with these problems when ordering through LRG.

Does that mean they could go to Fangamer or Soedesco and get another retail print for their games once the rights go back to them?

So, basically any of these LRG games could potentially be reprinted at a later date and time should the develops feel the need to do so for whatever reason. They just have to go through an alternate means besides LRG and they would look different.
Presumably, they would also have shiny Gold Foil and a new artwork.

The main reason why people are against it, is because many of the people who would buy said release, already did through import sites. The only real reason to have a LRG print versus an Asian English is being able to use the dlc without switching accounts (the only difference in boxart on most of them is the ratings labels). Price would be the same, if not higher than importing, and chances are developers would want a high amount of copies (namely Bandai Namco), many of which could just sit there because the demand just isn't there from people who didn't import.

Well I wasn't thinking the Bandai Namco titles, I was more talking about the indie stuff like Hotline Miami or smaller titles like Caldarius Blaze (and if they ever get XB1 publishing going, Raiden V).

For example, it's $52 CAD just for the Hotline Miami Collection on PA, then shipping on top of that, then duties when it hits customs. Game stuff from the US doesn't get flagged by Canadian customs, so that would already save me money. I figure other people might find LRG to be an easier option, so that's why I asked.

Hotline Miami has actually been mentioned quite a bit in the past and it basically came down to, they want to do it as a complete set on the card (or have 2 different physical releases) and not have a download code. The problem with doing a complete set though, is that it would require the developer to go back and code in a launcher that has both games, something they most likely wouldn't do for a small print number from LRG. Which leaves 2 separate releases as the only real option, which who knows if they'd even want to partner with LRG to have it done.

Damn at that burn.

I'd consider buying a new copy of Hotline Miami if they did a LRG release, though I'd prefer Hotline Miami 2 as well and so far LRG haven't released any "two games bundled on one cart" releases.

Presumably that's because of the extra effort needed to create a splash screen and what not, which is why it's only Hotline Miami 1 on cart in Japan.

But anyway, I'd consider it. Though the box art would have to be AMAZING to beat the Japanese version :P

You can pick up the Hotline collection for $52 (CAD) on ebay, shipping included: http://www.ebay.com/itm/162035000044?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

hoping for a LRG release so you can get the game a bit cheaper misses the point a bit imo

Also you can ask Play Asia to mark down orders so they go through customs easier

As for shipping Play Asia orders actually arrive quite a bit faster here in Germany and are cheaper than LRG orders. Just a matter of perspective

So weird. Being in a neighbour country, P-A packages take 13,5 work days on average to arrive here. Meanwhile LRG is a little over 5,5 work days on average (not counting Saturdays and Sundays).

P-A are the slowest by quite a margin of all foreign stores I order from when it comes to delivery.

The PA avarage seems accurate overall, but all my latest orders arrived faster than that so I think something improved. Had a PA order that took the same time to arrive as something from UK.

For LRG I'm talking about the whole process from placing the order to receiving the game, which can take 3 weeks or longer. Once it dispatches from US it takes a little over a week with the new fulfillment center, that's correct.

Ordering form both sites at the same time, I'm confident PA would be here a good number of days earlier.

Yeah, I'm really only counting the time it takes from receiving a shipping notification. Fullfillment is definitely slow, but not taking that into account because there could be too many reasons for a slowdown there, making it impossible to compare the data.

Haven't been following this thread too actively. What are the confirmed near future releases? I.e. games with a release date/month.

Is Breach & Clear Deadline also coming this week or only Söldner X? Would be nice to combine the shipping costs.

edit: Just noticed the bundles also say 29.07.. Only the standalone game doesn't state a date.

I just got my Xeodrifter Vita and Lost Sea.

I'm sure it's been brought up before, but I'd like to suggest adding a bit of bubble wrap between the games in the bag. My Lost Sea ps4 case has a pretty clear imprint of a vita size dent in it. It hasn't harmed the artwork thankfully, and I'm lucky enough to work at a place I can swap the case for a minty trade in game, but if others want to keep it sealed it could be a bit of a problem

A piece of cardboard would do as well. Stacking games in bubble mailers is generally a bad idea though.

When I buy two games from VGP for example, they usually come in a large envelope and are next to each other. Any number >2 should ship in a box by default.

Got Xeodrifter and Lost Sea. Used a shipping box this time, everything in perfect condition and no loose disc. The extra $5 might be worth it until there are some improvements with the normal shipping.

They can release them separately if they give them new trophy sets. Really every LRG game should have a new trophy set.

Huh? That would totally screw with the trophy rarity though.

I consider most LRG releases other games, because:

- LRG releases are superior versions of the original digital game (Breach & Clear, Futuridium Deluxe)
- New trophy set
- DLC on the box, GOTY edition-style (Soldner X2)

I don't think they should have their own list to be honest. It would be unfair to the 99.9 percent who can't access them.

I'm not familiar with the specifics of each release, but if the game is different in any way then a different trophy set makes sense.

If the game is the same you can use the same save file as the digital game (using PS+ or a more obscure Content Manager method, or for PS4 games probably just keeping the save on the system). This makes cheesing a new trophy set very possible.

Also, if you have a different trophy set you can't compare with friends that have the digital copy.

Just picked up my Octodad copy and I got a golden sticker! My very own ticket to the Chocolate Factory! Thanks for the great work, guys!
