Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington has committed suicide

Guess I am not surprised by the totally lack of sympathy/empathy by some folks online (no one here).

People are horrible,

There was someone on my social media post about this who was just spamming "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE JESUS" like a sort of "I told you so". I deleted their comments and they just kept respamming them.

They were promptly deleted from my friends list. It was a long time coming frankly

Hybrid Theory, Reanimation and Meteora were such a huge part of my early teenage years and helped me through some tough times. It was also my introduction to heavier stuff through them. Didn't really listen to them past Meterora, except Battle Symphony. My December is still one of my favourite songs and one I keep coming back to... it's just a lot harder, listening to it now.

Thanks for all the great songs and memories. RIP Chester Bennington.

Love their music to death and still listen to it when I want to get pumped. I didn't know where he sang from until he died. This is so sad.

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
Hybrid Theory was generation-defining.

Such a sad thing to happen and such sad circumstances.

I should do this more often. Life is hard enough as it is without totally unnecessary baggage.

Jesus this is terrible to hear...

I've always loved his singing and range and Linkin Park has always been on my favorite bands

Hybrid Theory was generation-defining.

It really was. Even for people that don't like Linkin Park, it can't be argued how influential that album / this band are. Hybrid Theory was for many many people their first foray into rock / heavy music. Its probably one of the most influential rock albums of the modern era

I don't consider myself a fan of Linkin Park anymore, but Hybrid Theory and Meteora were the soundtracks to my life for like 3 solid years during my adolescence. Damn.

RIP Chester

Linkin Park was one of those teen angst bands that hit the charts when I was a few years out of high school, so it will always be "that music annoying teenagers listen to" for me, but they were talented and had a huge following, so I feel for the loss. R.I.P.

I have a feeling most people never heard this song from the CD thousand suns. Give it a listen.

the messenger

When you feel you're alone
Cut off from this cruel world
Your instincts telling you to run

Listen to your heart
Those angel voices
They'll see you to you
They'll be your guide
Back home where life leaves us blind
Love keeps us kind
It keeps us kind !

When you suffered it all
And your spirit is breaking
You're growing desperate from the fight
Remember your love
And you always will be
This melody will always bring
You right back home

When life leaves us blind
Love, keeps us kind!
When life leaves us blind
Love keeps us kind!

Holy shit. :(

RIP Chester

I was a huge Linkin Park fan back in middle/high school. Hell their music got me through my own suicidal thoughts back then

So sad he is gone.

It always amazes me that hanging is so effective. How many places can you really pull that off in a house. And even then you can't bungle it.

Poor bastard, the pain must have been simply too great.

Wow, heart breaking news to wake up to. Linkin Park's first two albums were two of my most played as a teenager. I've had my own battles with depression, and frankly their music was something that helped. I haven't listened to their new albums past Minutes to Midnight, but ill be listening to HT and M today.

Rest in peace, Chester. I hope you and Chris can feel happy again, reunited.

RIP Chester.

I was a big fan during my high school years (Hybrid Theory and Meteora mainly). He had an amazing voice and they were great live.

I'm so sorry for his family. Depression is a terrible, terrible thing.

fuck me....
I forgot about this song.

When the lights go out and we open our eyes,
Out there in the silence, I'll be gone, I'll be gone
Let the sun fade out and another one rise
Climbing through tomorrow, I'll be gone, I'll be gone

And tell them I couldn't help myself
And tell them I was alone
Oh, tell me I am the only one
And there's nothing left to stop me

When the lights go out and we open our eyes,
Out there in the silence, I'll be gone, I'll be gone
Let the sun fade out and another one rise
Climbing through tomorrow, I'll be gone, I'll be gone

I gave Linkin Park a hard time back then when I was listening to fucking stuff like Death metal.

But hey, I started off with the likes of Bon Jovi/Def Leppard and then transitioned slowly. So while I didn't like the band, I can totally see a younger version of myself totally enamored by them. Absolutely.

If my favorite singer/musician growing up died, I'd be devastated.

The band touched people in the feels and gave young kids the type of emotions I did when I started listening to music.

This is so harsh.

fuck man this is just sickening LPs music was and still is a huge part of my life so sad to see a huge part is gone now RIP Chester

Man... this is a tough loss and it's kind of hitting me a little harder than it should be.

I used to get bullied a lot in school and one of my escapes from that bullying was through listening to a lot of Linkin Park, particularly the Hybrid Theory and Meteora albums. I often got teased for that too, sadly, because it was "emo" or some shit and everyone thought it was garbage. I've struggled with mental illness (exacerbated by the bullying, too) most of my life and a lot of Linkin Park's stuff just resonated with me and got me through a lot. I still remember Chester's voice quite vividly.

Fuck. R.I.P Chester.
