It's all in good fun, man.
As for the next big trend in levels, there's been a slew of drifting ones lately. Initial D popular again?
@Speevy, you start working on that idea you mentioned to me awhile back?

Nice one! I'll check it out when I get a chance.RyanardoDaVinci said:Hello, fellow LittleBigContra creators!

Ranger X said:Yeah but this is exploiting the game already to it's maximum in matter of concept here.
People won't ever do more than scrolling background glitched objects with layer movers. This is how this dogfight is done and that's the max you'll see in the final game for this type of thing. It will never be free 3D, will never rotate around, etc
Still is fucking impressive.
Ballistics said:Yeah, I mean it's not like he's made a flight sim or anything, because that really would be the maximum you would ever need......oh wait a minute someone has. You grossly underestimate what people will be doing with this game. Yes, this technique goes one way, but you assume that noone will think up new ideas.
Ranger X said:I don't exactly understand where you're going but...
I'm just saying the guy is already hitting limits of the engine. What I mean by "in a matter of concept" is that stuff scrolling towards you like this is the further you will see the game go in matter of using the glitch and movers^. Per example, you will never turn around completely for real or some will never make a 3D world. There are limits that we are aware of in LBP and it's possible to estimate pretty accurately when someone is going really far. This level there will not be the norm, it will remain as a special level during LBP2 life or until MM adds stuff to the game to a point it would create complete other experiences.
Ballistics said:What more could you need? That's my point. Flying a plane/spaceship with scrolling backgrounds. I'm really struggling to think of anything that's bigger than that. And yes, I know a lot of people can't do stuff like that, but it still doesn't mean there are absolute limits. Mm said in an interview (can't remember who), that someone made a revolving 3D "H" (it was for a top down helicopter game, for regaining health) and Mm said it was impossible to do, yet it was done.
You can make a cube of holographic material, made of small squares and use it like a dot matrix. As well as being able to animate what you like. So I'll believe it when I don't see it.

Ballistics said:@Ranger X, do you remember this conversation?
blablabla
Do you still believe in limits?
And where's Donkey Show? I've got your camera http://lbp.me/v/yxjqq0
Although, the camera isn't there to get (I was in a hurry), it will all become clear very soon

Must've taken a hell of a ton of time to tweak like crazy! I'm itching to get a hold of it sometime down the line.
EDIT: Camera changes are still jarring like my efforts. Shame it can't be smoother because of the wacky angles. Good job on getting all those other angles though!
Oh yeah, so I played it last night. Even with the grapple hooks, it was very LBP1-ish, considering most of it was built in LBP1. =P It was a good challenge the whole way through but I think you could perhaps either cut back on some of the corners when you're falling down the fire corridor with the bunch of grab materials and slow down the pillars of the moving spikes where you have to pull the second switch underwater. Good solid effort. =)RyanardoDaVinci said:Hello, fellow LittleBigContra creators!

Speevy said:Sackbot logic question. If I have one sackbot talking with sound, how do I make another sackbot do the same thing?
I don't want more sound, as I know it's only possible to have one playback of a recorded audio source.
What I want is for a second sackbot to "sing along" with the first sackbot, like moving its mouth together with the other one. Is that possible?

I tried playing it on Monday and broke it - at one point the little dude wouldn't respawn and he was necessary for moving forward. It was late so we ditched that level and tried a few others. By far the most fun of that lot was ABoRTkevm3 said:This Steam Team level is utterly amazing:

LittleBigPlanet 2 Teacher Pack due May; Part of bid to get PlayStation 3 used in lessons
PlayStation and playgrounds may not have much in common, but Sony is aiming to change all that with radical education plans.
The platform holder is launching a LittleBigPlanet 2 Teacher Pack courtesy of developer Media Molecule which it hopes will be ready by the start of the summer term in May.
These packs will feature instructions for teachers and demonstrations of National Curriculum-based in-game levels that other teachers have made.
Students will be able to use PlayStation Move motion controllers to play these custom-made levels within LittleBigPlanet 2. Its part of a push to get PlayStation consoles used as learning tools in schools.
The pack will be a really useful way of starting to track and develop interest and involvement in games-based learning, SCEE senior VP Ray Maguire told MCV.
We hope that Media Molecule will have this created by the start of the summer term in May.
Sony is also running PlayStation Move courses for teachers, which explain how the motion accessory can be used in the classroom for mathematics. It can track the distance objects are thrown and work out landing times to calculate speed.
The platform holder has its own specialist education website ConnectED over at www.connectededucation.
com. Several schools already use Sony PSPs as media devices for PowerPoint presentations and as video recorders for class projects.
Consoles dont just play games they are sophisticated media players, added Maguire. There is no reason why you cant play open standard educational content such as videos, audio and web-based lessons through a games console like the PlayStation 3.
And it is not just video games. It is richer content too including video, Flash and audio.
I think there is a great case for a national Digital Curriculum to complement the existing Curriculum.
Ranger X said:But a gamer standpoint... this is boring.
I'm still waiting for good DLC.
There are already schools in the US such as Quest to Learn in NYC using LBP to teach game design to grade school students. And myself and several others have been working on educational modules based on US based STEM curriculum (science, technology, engineering, math) when we won educational grants from UCHRI and HASTAC last year. The idea isn't new, but it's nice to see Mm take a more active approach themselves in at least garnering more attention to the possibilities in interactive learning with LBP. It appears as if this is geared more towards the UK side of education as I'm sure the national curriculum there is not the same as ours here in the US (but probably very similar). It also looks as if this won't necessarily be a commercial product but geared strictly towards institutions looking at alternatives.jump_button said:LittleBigPlanet 2 Teacher Pack due May

Sly & Bently Costume Pack
how did i miss this
Happy Friday, Sack-fans! There are more and more awesome LittleBigPlanet 2 levels being uploaded every day, which is great to see (and in fact were getting very close to a fantastic milestone ) so great work to all the creators out there.
This week, though, I wanted to give you all a sneak peak at some of the new content that is planned for LittleBigPlanet 2 over the next few months. As all the loyal players of the original LittleBigPlanet will remember, we always like to ensure that there are plenty of new bits and pieces popping up to inspire fresh creations, to let you show some of your other favourite games and movies a bit of LittleBigPlanet love, or just to keep your Sackboy looking a la mode.
First off, be sure youve picked up your free St. Patricks Day costume from the Store this week its Sackboys yearly chance to become Craic-boy, and you surely wouldnt want to deprive him of that, would you? There will be plenty more time-limited free costumes throughout the year, so keep your eyes peeled.
Last week, the Even More Animals costume pack was released to ensure that those of you that werent able to pick up the LittleBigPlanet 2 Collectors Edition have the option of dressing up as a Cobra, Mandrill, Crocodile or Vulture, should you so desire. The individual costumes are 0.99 / £0.79 each, whilst the pack of four is available for 2.99 / £2.39.
Looking ahead to next month, youll get the chance to take your Sackboy on a journey into The Grid with the Tron: Evolution minipack. Featuring characters from the game that serves as a prequel to last years Tron: Legacy movie, this pack will contain two brand new costumes Anon and Abraxas plus plenty of sleek and stylish Tron-themed stickers to decorate your levels.
Youll also be seeing plenty of costumes and kits based around other PlayStation characters this year look out for the brand new Killzone 3 minipack, coming soon and featuring Rico and a very cool looking Hazmat Trooper.
But what better way to kick things off than with some indisputable PlayStation icons? Next week well be releasing three pairs of costumes based alongside the release of PlayStation Move Heroes on PS3 Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, and Sly & Bentley (Ive got my fingers crossed for some particularly awesome examples of Sly-themed platforming from the community ). Each pack of two will be on sale for 2.99 / £2.39.
The sharp-eyed amongst you will also have noticed Media Molecule talking about a future Move expansion pack in interviews, and they are indeed beavering away on this. It is a VERY exciting pack that will be coming later in the year, and well be sharing more details soon.
Finally, and moving away from DLC as part of the Make.Believe campaign for this year, our colleagues elsewhere within Sony have put together a cool new behind the scenes documentary that tells the story of how two of the lovely folk from Media Molecule came to be working there. Neither John nor Christophe were originally working in the games industry, but after people noticed the creative wizardry they were showing in LittleBigPlanet, something amazing happened

Ranger X said:So basically there isn't much new stuff coming, they are only releasing exclusive pre-order costumes. Still waiting for TRUE DLC to be announced!!
Best news anyways is MM fixing the local space bug preventing you crazy guys to make 3D games. I mean, holy fuck. This will be amazing. Right now the turning being bugged removed 120% of any interest I could have to play a game using this technique.
