TelemachusD said:This level is amazing, Ranger. So good, plus I've never seen anyone implement this guy's skill-based scoring method (start with 5000 points, lose 100 every time you die). After a few tries I managed a score of 4300. I notice you didn't actually finish it . Where'd you give up? The level's not that long, but the last section caused me quite a few deaths on my first playthrough.
I'd cross-post this level to the main thread, more people should see it.
Lion Heart said:One of the best platforming levels I've EVER played, unbelievable. Its hard but fair in a Demons souls type way, it lookis amazing, he even played around with the gravity (first time I've played a level with this) and added a sprint to square, mario style. This is the epitome of LBP2.
I also played Jumps level, pretty rad although I did manage to cheat a bit where you have to traverse sideways while jumping. I seemed to hit mid air but jammed on the X and made it through where I should have died. Still a great level, as is that puzzle game (fucking amazing).

An 8 bit treat! Jump, collect gems, and stomp on enemies to reach Harvey the GM tomato and put an end to his reign of terror. Move with the D pad and jump with X. Deflect Crow-woes at Harvey by stomping them to damage it. 1 PLAYER ONLY!

Enjoyed this level quite a bit. I want more stuff like this.TelemachusD said:A lovely 8-bit style platforming level that doesn't infringe on Nintendo's copyrights?! Right now the boss is too hard, but it's still extremely well made.

This level is so good! Not the prettiest around but the guy created a very nice pace, good gameplay, a fun sidekick to sackboy and most of all ---- it's the first time I am playing a community level in LBP2 where having a couple of cut-scenes and a story is actually making the level BETTER. There's also of care put in that level, it's really worth it to play in it's entirely. Did I mentionned it's also the "perfect difficulty" imo? Not easy and never overly hard (infinite checkpoints anyways). You have to play that. Needless to say, the screens don't it justice...

Learned a lot from making this level. And luckily, one of my mates wanted to help out.

You just answered your own question. =)magicaltrevor said:I've been thinking about doing a version where you use the left stick though. But that one should be infinite and I have no clue about how I should do that. Emitters?
donkey show said:You just answered your own question. =)
Well, it's all about positioning and scale. Let's say we split up your current level into 8 with section 1 being the lowest point and section 8 being the top border of the level height.magicaltrevor said:I imagined it would've been something like that, but I don't know where to start... because, well, when the sackbot is jumping, he'll climb in height.
If I had to make a running train with a looping background, the train would just remain at it's place and I could put movers on several set pieces on the back layer that move to the left and get emitted every x seconds.
But the sackbot is jumping, so ultimately, he'll get to the top of the level-canvas, right?
Perhaps you could be so kind to play my level donkey show, and share some ideas/pointers on how to make it endless? It would be highly appreciated!

[9 <-extreme top of stage
[8 <-emitted sections
[7 <-player should not pass
[6 |
[5 |
[4 |
[3 | - player space
[2 <- player should not pass this area
[1 <-section destroyed
[0 <-bottom of the stage
Since we're trying to build a sense of constant movement, your idea with the train is similar, but obviously the level sections are falling down instead of scrolling sideways. The key is having the sections drop at a constant speed that's both reasonable to the player, but fast enough so that the player doesn't hot shot his/her way to the emitted areas. Although using gravity would be okay, I would suggest using a mover to make sure the areas fall at a certain speed and then dissolve when they hit section 1. Hopefully that helps a little.

Moon Lander 2 http://lbp.me/v/xtvv0j
it's one of those classic moon lander type games where you have to fight gravity and keep from touching any walls or you'll explode, the second one has some cool ideas on coop with areas that only one player or the other can pass through. I played through the first and have only touched the second momentarily.
