I seem to connect to PSN from PS3, and webstore, but PS4 won't connect at all.
Just logged into the PS Web Store. Wondering if I should attempted to make a purchase.

Reading that first line.
"DESIGNED TO DISRUPT TRAFFIC"
There. Can we go now?
Yep, not going to happen again.
You're contradicting yourself you know that right? You specifically said the TOS states Sony isn't responsible for downtime so in light of that you don't then get to say and I quote " If this had PSN go down forever, I'd expect people to get their PSN+ time back, and be compensated for their digital downloads. But that's a completely different matter" no it's NOT a completely different matter because according to the TOS Sony isn't responsible right? Now just think how ridiculous that sounds for a minute..........Down time is down time be it a day or forever it's all the same according to the contract. So in one breath you say Sony isn't responsible and shouldn't be accountable yet in another you say they SHOULD compensate customers something in the event it drags on forever. You said this not me. Please make up your mind.
yes, give this shit service some more of your money
LizardSquad serve no purpose other than to further irritate customers (as if we can change anything from corporations to country laws) and bolster their 'names'
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/12/27/playstation-network-update-3/#sf6590558The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. Well continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and well update this post once the problems subside.
Thanks again for your patience.

Playstation store on phone app confirmed working. Progress

And we are back to killing these guys again. Come on now. Try to get some perspective.Man I just hope someone, either a government, Sony, or even another group like Anonymous can mitigate the attacks soon. The best mitigation would be a bullet to the head for the Lizard Squad types but what can you do.
You're completely contradicting yourself. You're saying it's OK for some contingencies not to be accounted for, but at the same time, it's not OK. What.
I work with networking. I deal with DDOSes. You can't just "fix it". This is nothing Sony can be held responsible for. What you're saying is that they should have an internet connection that is bigger than all other internet connections in the world. Combined. Because that's how you completely eliminate DDOS. When no one has the capacity to fill up your links, you can't be DDOSed. But that can't happen. So it won't happen. The internet will always be prone to DDOS, just like a highway will get congested if someone has an accident. Yelling "it shouldn't" doesn't change anything.
From a ps4 owner: This is just ridiculous, if this only happened to sony, i could(maybe) understand, but xbox solved this ages ago, i know they are doing everything they can since they are loosing a lot of money too, but this isnt professional at all, sony invest in your staff and materials the best you can, wtf...
Not asking facetiously but what do you do at your job to deal with DDOSes if nothing can be done about them?
YupWhat did Microsoft solve? They're getting hammered, too.
I wasnt quoting you, my apologies.
Read my post before,
And know you went from "the TOS doent say anything about compensation" to "that TOS doesnt matter legally"?
read this:

Then perhaps I was wrong. You need to apply what you know about DDOSes and networks with what MS and Sony are.
So, how do you deal with DDOSes?
Wishing harm on these folks seems more reasonable than focusing the outrage on Sony from my view. And we are back to killing these guys again. Come on now. Try to get some perspective.

While yes people don't care about specifics, it being a bit 'less shit' for XBL right now isn't really helping the numerous people it still is down for.I get that we don't know the whole situation...
HOWEVA
It does seem like XBL is up for more dudes/dudettes than PSN is right now...and thats nooooo gooood
and the average person isn't going to care about the specifics.
You cant acknowledge that you were taken down by some pissy teenie boppers from DDOS attacks. Thats like getting beat up by the weakest person at school when nobody was around to see it and telling everybody what happened. You would lose all tough guy credibility.
I got all the way to checkout in the store :O
Loading....loading....

Except it's not. I'm playing multi right now.Meanwhile over at Xbox...they're down too...
And solved? Solved what?
LolIt's more like being beaten up by the weakest kid in school while half the school watched and the local news reported on it, but then you tell everyone that you sold tickets to the fight and lost because you got distracted by the huge crowds.

Out of curiosity what is stopping these people from doing this forever and permanently keeping psn down with DDOSes?
Does anyone know if Sony were using Prolexic before today? I'm familiar with using their service and I'm also familiar with the fact that they're pretty good at selling and setting up their service for you at very short notice.
Sigh.
Except it's not. I'm playing multi right now.
My neighboor has a xbox one and only failed him one day, this is day 3 for ps4.
Microsoft are at an advantageous situation. They have a cloud network in place. Their azure infrastructure means it's much harder to attack them, and that you need a much bigger attack. They likely have a bigger team that can counter it, too. It's advantage Microsoft, and it will be a difference that will make a difference in attack like this. Forever. So if it's important for you that DDOSes impede your services for the shortest amount of time possible, which is a totally fair request, then MS is a better alternative. Sony doesn't run a network anywhere near the size of MS's.
PSN survived that nasty hack with the credit cards, they will survive this. Not saying its not bad but its not the end of the world either.
It's unbelieveable that PSN is still down. If Sony would, at the very least, release a proper statement detailing why its network is having trouble coming back, and staying, online, it would help alleviate some of the anger you see building in consumers. Does no company involved with gaming have a proper PR division anymore?
