Are you sure? I think that contest is a static page. It's to try to get people to upgrade.
When I visited the page at home I got a Safari specific message, so it's safe to say that its detecting (minimally) what browser your using.

Not sure if it detects versions, but why wouldn't it?!

Desperation marketing.

Sure, Firefox may win in sheer number of add-ons, but many of the customizations you'd want to download for Firefox are already a part of Internet Explorer 8 – right out of the box.
Adblock Plus, Greasemonkey, Flashblock are some of the most popular Firefox add-ons. I don't believe these are out of the box in IE8, right?

Of course Internet Explorer 8 wins this one. There's no need to install tools separately, and it offers better features like JavaScript profiling.
Why is there no checkmark for Chrome for this one?

Knowing the top speed of a car doesn't tell you how fast you can drive in rush hour. To actually see the difference in page loads between all three browsers, you need slow-motion video. This one’s also a tie.
Seems like someone hasn't used the latest Chrome 3.0.

I'm happy to do it, but you don't seem to get it. That thing made by browser slow to crawl. Oveloading an internet browser with tons of calculations is not how you measure how fast it is. Visiting a website is how you do that. Since you know, that's what browsers are actually for.

Yes. My experience is better and more important than yours. Why would I possibly care about your results? Firefox has run like crap on every computer I've ever used it on though, which is why I posted intially.
If you say personal experiences are the only thing that matters, what gives you the authority to say that other people are wrong and should gtfo this thread?

:lol :lol :lol

Your original post implied that your experience is a general accepted truth in the browser world.

IE8 trounces them. I just checked IE8 vs. Chrome and Chromium builds and it's faster in most cases.

You arrogantly implied that since in your experience one is better than the other so therefore it must be true for everyone. Next time, consider the words "in my experience" and stop acting like your experience is the truth for everyone else before backtracking and hiding your tail.

I covered that:
"Firefox has run like crap on every computer I've ever used it on though, which is why I posted intially."

RubixCube:

On my netbook:
Chromium scored 641
IE8 scored 253

Guess what...
On my desktop they would probably score 3x as high and yet pages load maybe 20% faster across the board, with any browser, on it. Not to mention, as I have already said, that test doesn't measure actual web browsing.

I 'implied' Firefox is slow and IE8 is a bit faster than Chrome and Chormium, actually.
As I've stated I've used Firefox on a LOT of computers and it's always slower than the competition, IE8 vs. Chrome may not be the norm, I don't know. But, FF3+ being slow is typical.

Ok, I see. Must've missed that part. What a great argument, and it obviously proves everyone in this thread wrong. I admit I was wrong, and all other people in this thread should too. You're a true hero, and a master in persuasiveness.

Maybe I should start using Chorme again, Firefox is really being a resource hog, taking 1/4th of my 2GBs of Ram.

In your experience. Which doesn't translate to everyone else's experience. Therefore, your gtfo comment sounds like something coming out of MS shrill. Your experience is not the representation of everyone else's.

Yeah, I just recently switched from Firefox to Chrome. It's so much faster. A few bugs, but would rather have that than the massive memory hog that is Firefox.

It seems to be an error with people using W7 RC. On my Vista laptop, the browser text was gone once I installed IE8 but showed the Firefox text if I used that.

It just says "that browser" or "current browser" MS doesn't know Opera. Like the 98% of everyone.
Yep, a simple user agent switch and..

You get the Firefox 3.5 beta? I find a pretty big difference between that and 3. But yeah, Chrome is still the fastest. I just have a really hard time getting into it after using Firefox for so long.
