I think they announced that loft2 is in development, they probably left a skeleton crew to fix stuff in the previous game, they are not gonna get another 5 mil players no matter how much they tinker that one.

You can't prove a negative. Its asinine to say that just because a game was targeted at the "modern audience" but failed, it failed because of that singular reason. Its classic correlation does not equal causation.

However if you have data that shows taking certain approaches that despite opposing the DEI-inspired "modern audience" prescription post launch, and see an improvement in performance, then you have information that can be usefully applied.

This topic is so funny, people's opinions are so entrenched on one side of the other basic critical thinking like I've just demonstrated seems radical !

And i don't see any real disadvantage in releasing the data, big woke ass teams are not gonna change games that are already half done because a dude has some sketchy data and the other half already know that making woke stuff in 2025 is a recipe for disaster, this is not 2020 anymore, if you really think that this dude has some sort of game changing truth on his hand, think again, smart people know what's up without this dude relasing any data.

Look, its pretty simple. When he ran that poll about A-B body types versus Male-Female, he faced an immediate boycott on Reddit and the usual places to try and hurt a game that was being actively developed and improved post launch.

Well guess what, it got relaunched and is apparently doing well. To know how well, we'd have to see accurate sales figures tracking over the period from initial launch to now. But if that corresponds inversely with blow-back from supporters of the "modern audience" ethos, then he has actual hard data to back up the supposition.

Now, he could share those numbers, so we can see the degree of correlation, but that would require disclosing proprietary sales data.

Its really that simple.

CI:s product roadmap says they're targeting fall 2026, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's pushed back to 2027.

Probably, and this is just speculation ... LOTF2 is going to have stuff like shared progression coop (like they added in 2.0 for LOTF) at launch, so I'm getting the feeling that they're back-porting systems from their next game as they go along.

From a media personality, sure, I'd find it questionable whether it was a sincere statement or just playing to their demographic. But for a CEO... Big difference as they have actual skin in the game.

Idk, while I don't want to strawman their position as I don't know what "data" they are referring to, I feel many conflate a game "failing" due to being a poorly made game with "failing" due to the perceived inclusion of woke elements. I can only speak for myself, but I'm tired of the "paint by the number" approach to game development. These projects end up bland, derivative, and soulless.

For example, Vailguard reportedly has bad writing, shallow mechanics, and an art style that differs greatly from previous entries (among other issues). Take out the "woke" elements, and I still think you have a game that misses the mark for Dragon Age fans, much less a gamer who isn't invested in the series.

Of course some will avoid a game that offers type A or type B body types or features a black strong female lead, but I don't imagine it would effect the sales to a large degree if the game was sufficiently awesome. I will concede that I believe that such inclusions does nothing to increase sales, but I blame most of the issues with AAA development on risk aversion.

But hey, I could be wrong.

For my take, the game wasn't mediocre at launch. It was just bad at launch. It's not mediocre now, it's pretty good. There was a time when it was mediocre, but this studio fixed their game after launch. That should be praised, honestly. Just like No Mans Sky. Modern audiences wasn't invented by the anti-woke, it is a woke term. "Modern audiences" imply that gamers no longer exist, devs don't have to cater to gamers, and that gaming has expanded to a more open minded group.

The industry and specifically consultants have been pitching the idea that modern audiences will save a game if it adds politically correct stuff to their game(and even further, pitching the idea that WITHOUT adding that stuff the game is doa, really trying to scare the studios, publishers, devs into changing the game...and if you think that statement is false you may want to check into marketing for some of these consultant agencies and also you may not have followed this very closely as this is widely known), ie gender flips, race swaps, type 1, body type 2, pronouns, ect. Now if you had been told that and then discovered that said audience isn't really relevant to your game's sales, would you not be upset with the consultants and MAYBE try to spread the word to notify other devs before they wasted their money and make their games worse?

I don't think he's referring to any private or proprietary data, just the very public success and failures of games over the last two years where there's a pretty damn obvious pattern and response from gamers.
