Lose Yourself by Eminem is the best Hip-Hop song of all time.

This was the silliest and most terrible career move by Lil Wayne ever. Eminem absolutely eats him alive on this track, it's so one sided it makes my brain hurt. I still cannot believe people listen to this asshole
weezy not em

While we're on it, one of my favourite (read: not necessarily his best) Em tracks ever,

C.R.E.A.M.

My Man.

Ok, time for MY fave Wu-Track (well sort of, it's hard to nail one down, but Masta Killa mangles this track)

If you're gonna go with a "message" song like Lose Yourself then Changes by Tupac is infinitely superior.

It Ain't Hard to Tell is my personal favorite.

Protect Ya Neck is a fun example of different rappers just going crazy on the same track.

Not even close. Not even Eminem's best song. But I wholeheartedly agree with the OP as far as emotions go. That song is incredibly powerful.

Changes is one of my favorite songs of all time, it almost makes me cry at times. And so do both Dear Mama (Hamilton remix) and Ghetto Gospel (with Elton John singing in the chorus). But I think a comparison is kind of nonsensical. Changes is all about a message headed to society as a whole and perception of black people in general (I hope this is not offensive, English is not my first language - just tell me and I'll edit in case). Lose Yourself is a literal description of things happened in his/Rabbit's life, meant to be read as a metaphor for never giving up in life. So yeah, the "message" is way more powerful in Changes, but as far as mere emotions go, I think Lose Yourself still has a shot. Songs like When I'm Gone, Beautiful, You're Never Over, Going Through Changes, Hailie's Song, Mockingbird and Like Toy Soldiers are still emotional bombs though, and each has its own strength, just to name a few.

What's funny is that I'm not even a big Wu Tang fan. It's just that C.R.E.A.M. is so powerful.

Wu-Tang is the reason I got into hip-hop in the first place and still my number one pick period, so much amazing shit came out of that group it blows me brain.

For you my friend:

His flow from the MMLP to 8 Mile era was fucking amazing. Rabbit Run? Sheeeeeeeeiiitttt.

The funny thing about C.R.E.A.M. is how the phrase has been adopted as an ignorant turn of phrase (and who can blame people I guess, it's an awesome line) even though it's probably Wu Tang's most conscious track.

my favroite rap songs are....

WHOOMP THERE IT IS
(Tag Team "Whoomp There It Is")

ALL I WANNA DO IS A ZOOOM A ZOOM A AND A BOOM BOOM... JUST SHAKE YOUR RUMP
(WRECKX-N-EFFECT "RUMPSHAKER")

SLAM SLAM SLAM, DUHH DUHH DUHHH, DUHH DUHH DUHHH, LET THE BOYS BE BOYS
(Onyx "Slam")

Everytime I hear the "I don't like rap, but do like Eminem" argument, this is always, always the song people bring up. It's understandable because Lose Yourself has a huge appeal that transcends the genre

This was me for a really long time. I thoroughly enjoy a lot of eminems songs buy when I tried to listen to other rap I hated it. I missed the complexity and meaningful lyrics. I eventually realized most artists have a few good songs among dumb ones.

Although Eminem is one of the most consistent I have come across. I even like his bad songs like love the way you lie.

I'm not a big fan of rap, but I do love Em. Lose Yourself is definitely one of my favourite songs of all time, rap or not.

He's got better ones that that, in my opinion.

For me, it'd probably be Run DMC's My Adidas, Del's 3030, or Missy Elliot's .. well.. hard to pick one there, but she also wrote a bunch of other songs for other artists.

honorable mention: Run DMC picked Walk This Way as a base to work off of for a reason. Tyler has better flow on that song than a lot of megastar rappers.

So this is the post 'the best' hip hop song thread now right?
Because it's Doo Wop (That Thing) by Lauren Hill, or Rosa Parks by Outkast if you want to stuff Lauren Hill into the R&B box.

Haha no way dude! I used to like Em but even his first album features better stuff. And I'd agree with other posters here that stuff like Wu Tang and Notorious have a bigger claim to this stake.
