I'm confused about Charlie and other people visiting Hurley after their deaths. Think they did it on a pit stop to Purgatory?
It's an alternate dimension, not a waiting room for dead people. Hurley and Ben lived on the island for another 7,000 years as far as I'm concerned, and they were still there the same time as long dead suckers.

Been thinking about the finale all day. The one problem I have with it. Is the fact that we do not know how the characters lived out their lives and how Hurley and Ben ran the island. Would of liked to know what they did all day some how.

It's up to you, really. They spelled out an outline pretty clearly, I think. They ran the island in a way that it was about bringing people home, rather than bringing people to the island. They came to an understanding that how Jacob ran things, bringing people to the island because it was special, because it needed protecting or any other trivial reason, was not the right way to do it. They started with Desmond and moved on to any of the Others left from the mortar blast and continued with people who were brought to the island for whatever reason. They helped them resolved their issues and brought them home. They ran that shit like true bosses and through that, they gained a great friendship they never fully developed over the course of the show. Ben's serious life and Hurley's levity bonded together. It's just so nice to see it that way, I believe.

Except in the end Ben couldn't get over himself enough to move on. I hated that scene so much.

You guys wanna see why Im seriously just gonna quit the internet.

Look at the countless people who didnt "get it" and are RIPPING lindelof and cuse. I seriously feel bad for Lindelof. I know he reads blogs and comments. But to see this many people STILL think they were dead the whole time and they feel "ripped off" they obviously just didnt get the show and only wanted to see nothing but answers.

Yes, because it's better to just throw in random shit and say "It's the Island" and not have to explain it.

Bullshit.

They are getting exactly what they deserve.

I think the only thing that really annoyed me in Season 6 was the Temple crew. I could overlook other stuff, but that's the part that really just makes me look back and think "Wait, what the hell were they doing in this show?"

They seemed pretty useless overall.

SpeedingUptoStop said:
Oh no doubt. They passed Cindy around like a blunt until she finally had some fucking kids of her own to steal and then they sent her on her merry way.

That needed to be in the show. Ben and Hugo were probably extremely bored if they did not do that.

I wonder why Jack has a son in the alternate world. Maybe that was something he always wanted, but we never saw him express that desire really.

Also, in the alt x, why is the island under water?

(These little nagging questions are coming to me as the emotional fog settles)

hahaha. Though I'm not as angry as you, I definitely think in season 4-6 they made the series about "answers". How can they be surprised at the beast they created? Plus, ham fisted artistry generally gets this kind of reaction. Sure, these people didn't "get it", and are lost on the happenings of the show, but there are plenty of people who did "get it" and are attacking the conclusion for a slew of other reasons.

Just comes with the territory. They should get thicker skins.

::looks at post directly above mine::

See.. even people who liked the ending, often fall in the category of "didn't really get it".

Jack likely had a son because of the father issues he struggled with. His inner desire to fix it, caused his soul to create a situation where he could right his father's perceived wrongs through doing fatherhood "right". The island was part red herring, and partly their collective consciouses wanting the island to have not taken them from normality. Waking up involved realizing just how important the island was to their experience, though.

People are so fucking stupid.

Are people really so blinded by the need for "answers" that they cannot see how well written, acted, directed, and edited the finale was? Even the most ardent answer whore has to acknowledge that production wise, the finale was top notch.

It was *not* well written at all, and that's why people are angry.

Seriously, people were not going in to comment on the fucking editing.

Are you kidding me?

But it WAS well written. And no, that's not why people are angry. People are angry because a) they wanted tons more answers or b) they stupidly think the cast was dead the whole time.

Jack was his son and Jack was able to play out the role of Christian. Jack was working out his final daddy issues before he could move on, something he never got do in life. Juliet was the mother because she never had a child of her own despite being a doctor who helped in creating children, and she had a lingering romance with Jack that never panned out.

And I just realized while writing that previous sentence...Juliet was a doctor who helped created life. She helped create the Sideways universe with the bomb. God fucking damn.

No, an ending which pisses all over the last six years and provides no sort of actual resolution or answer to what people actually wanted is not well written.

you know, an eternity is a long time to allow for experimentation.

Perhaps there's another way, a way where we're both right, Dave.

Perhaps...there's another way.

A better way.

Pardon me for expecting an ending which actually respected the audience instead of being a giant cop out.

I guess the reason why I'm not mad is because I don't remotely understand how one can think that.

is pretty much not up for debate? Absolute fucking bullshit.

Critical thinking skills = randomly popping in the thread to post links

Superb critical thinking skills I must say.

It pisses all over the last year, at the very least. This season has been an utter waste of time. I stand by my initial post in this thread.

Son of Godzilla said:
Season 5 should have been *entirely* about the flash sideways. No island shit until the last ~4 hours. It's not like anything actually happened on the island until this last episode. So many people are waiting on this finale to decide whether or not the season sucked because there isn't fuck all else other than this finale to the season.

Should have been entirely about the sideways.

Lard said:

I don't think it was a cop out and it 100% respected me. So I don't know what you mean.

Oh, shut the fuck up. I've openly talked about the last season being an overall disappointment for the past few threads. Sorry that I can take the final episode on its own for what it was: a fantastic ending for the characters.

Fixed for my literal perspective.:lol Poor SoB couldn't be tortured worse if Sayid did the deed.

Well you might not want to stand by the part where you get the season wrong. :P

It was an emotionally manipulative and sappy.

It just showed how wasted characters like Sayid, Sun and Jin were all season.

Well-written, acted, directed and edited, absolutely...if it was the series finale for a completely different television show. As a finale for LOST, it's the very definition of a cop-out.

For me Across the Sea was the cop out. That's where they flat out told us to fuck off if you've been watching for answers.

The reason they didn't expect the hate for that episode is because they really believed the vast majority of Lost viewers were in for the characters, not the mythology, they were mistaken.

Lard said:

Didn't like the way it made you feel did you? It's okay to cry.

Lard said:

Yeah because bitching about not having a lovie-dovie Sawyer/Kate scene or answering mysteries which they've already given ample exposition about displays critical thinking :lol

It's critical thinking that allows people to see how the ending fits perfectly within the context of the show and the characters and isn't a "cop out" at all. Not saying this applies for everyone who didn't like the ending but a hell of a lot of people who didn't straight up didn't understand it judging by their thoughts on it.
